Dinner was served in apartment 4B. Sheldon was the first to judge the flavor of that sausage noodle. He usually loves it when Amy prepares his favorite dish, but tonight he didn't suspect the real reason behind the special dinner. Knowing how much pasta with sausages means to her husband, Amy made sure to prepare him to help when revealing her pregnancy, because she wanted everything to be perfect, in addition, Sheldon tends to react badly to big changes. The news that he is going to be a father can leave him in shock or speechless at first. Concerned with creating a pleasant environment, she resorted to Mary's infallible recipe.

Enjoying the magnificent view of the platter of pasta, probably thinking about the exact number of turns of spaghetti on his fork, Sheldon remained looking down, resolute with the joy of another dinner with his lovely wife. And everything was perfect in his opinion. Nothing out of place or different. After taking a sip of water and returning the glass to the table, Amy cleared her throat, causing her husband to finally look up and pay attention to her. Normally, she would know how to start a conversation, but this was no simple conversation.

"So Sheldon, how was your day?"

Asking about how the day went is always a good starting point before getting straight to the point.

"Oh yeah, I'm glad you asked, Amy!" Sheldon put down his fork and leaned forward to proudly emphasize his research, which was moving forward at full speed. No pun intended!

"How wonderful! I think it's great that you're doing well!" Amy said, taking another drink of water.

"After lunch I called your lab because I really wanted to hear your opinion and was told you weren't there."

"Is it true? Did you call? What did the assistant say?"

"That you had an emergency and needed to leave. Is everything okay? Did something go wrong?"

Amy didn't want to tell him that she had gone to the gynecologist to find out about the baby. Instead, she said, "No problem going on, work is great! It was just an unforeseen event, no big deal! And my cell phone died in my purse, so that's why you couldn't reach me."

Amy reassured him before more questions came. After a while, she continued: "You know, Sheldon, I've been thinking about what we talked about a few weeks ago about buying a house, and I thought this would be the best time."

"I thought you told me to wait a little longer and see how things turned out after the Nobel Prize"

"True, I did say that! But now I think we have a significant reason not to put off buying our house any longer."

"But I like this apartment!"

"He's too small, Sheldon! There's barely room for the two of us. And besides, you keep saying how much you don't like him. What's changed?"

"Nothing! I just like being around my friends! It's comforting to know that Leonard is across the hall and that, at any time of the day or night, I can make him lose his temper without me having to go inside in a car or take a bus!

"I have a great reason that will change your mind!"

"Oh and what would that reason be?" Sheldon clasped his hands under his chin and waited for the "big" answer at last.

Amy didn't answer. She just got up from the chair, went to the bedroom and came back with a box in her hands, then handed it to Sheldon so that he could open it himself. Sheldon was confused, but nodded suspiciously, having no idea what the object contained. With a quick gesture, he removed the lid, then froze at the image of the little woolen slipper at the bottom of the box. Amy remained standing beside her husband, waiting for his reaction. The mother-to-be hoped that Sheldon, this time, would understand at first. Her heart was pounding, her chest was rising and falling, and there was an urge to cry.

Sheldon glanced quickly at Amy. Stunned and not quite understanding what was going on, he stammered before asking whose shoes were so small.

"They're our son's!"

"What son are you talking about?"

"What am I waiting for!" Amy replied, touching her belly.

Sheldon looked at the gesture his wife was making on her stomach and, even if he wanted to say something, at that moment the words disappeared. In his surprise, Sheldon continued to sit and blink as if it were a dream he didn't know how to wake up from.

"Are you pregnant-pregnant?" He asked.

"Yes Sheldon, I am! You're going to be a dad!

Sheldon took a deep breath. In that instant, he was reminded of his own father. George would be proud of the grandson or granddaughter of the only child he thought would never form a family.

That was definitely not the reaction Amy was hoping for. When Sheldon narrowed his eyes silently, she worried and wanted to know if he was feeling all right. For a few seconds, she came to believe that he didn't want to start a family. Usually, Sheldon was good at everything or almost everything, but his biggest fear was showing that he wasn't as good as his whole life thought he was.

"Amy, I wanted to tell you what I'm feeling, but I can't!" He said it and he was sincerous.

"Do you not happy that I'm pregnant?"

Amy was saddened, and for the first time, Sheldon had perfectly identified an emotion in a person. Realizing that he could be hurting Amy made him get up from the chair and hug her without warning that he would take this action.

"You are the best thing that ever happened to me!" Sheldon whispered as he hugged her tight and full of love, a sincere love he couldn't live without anymore!

Amy felt that her husband's words were loaded with truth, that's when she really started to cry. Since he didn't like to see anyone crying, Sheldon requested

she to hold back his tears. She, in turn, said it would be impossible, for obvious reasons: she was pregnant! A woman in your condition is unable to deal with hormones. Sheldon nodded as he broke the hug and held her hands.

"So it's okay? You're not freaking out that I'm expecting this child?

"I'm not going to say that I'm not terrified of fatherhood knocking on my door, because I am! And a lot! It's a lot of responsibility to bring a child into a world filled with stupids. In fact, I'm very scared too! But I I want you to know how much I love you and how much I want to have this baby with you!"

"Sheldon!"

"I don't want you to think that I didn't like the surprise. I was just remembering my dad and how hard it was for him."

"Don't worry honey, I didn't think anything of it."

"And if we happen to have a girl, I want you to talk to her about coitus. I can't do that!"

"Look, you don't have to worry in advance."

"I know! Still I insist!

"It's not a girl!" Amy was objective. "This afternoon I took the exam. It's a boy!"

"Oh thank God! I was just wondering what it's like to be a girl's father!" Sheldon placed his hands over his heart and let the relief show in a smile.

"I think you'll be a wonderful father to her, I mean when we have a girl."

"With guys visiting our house because of her? Oh I doubt it!"

"I'm glad you came back to the subject! About our house, what do you say?"

"I say we buy a house right now!"

"Are you sure? I know how much moving stresses you out, and Leonard and Penny live across the hall, suddenly it might be hard for you to have to leave them!"

Sheldon pondered for a second and then added firmly that the most important thing is his family. Amy arched an eyebrow. Because of her perception, he finally confessed that he won't leave his friends just because he's going to change neighborhoods. Sheldon pointed out that distance never stopped Benadette and Howard from being a nuisance. How many times did he have to share dinner because Raj showed up unannounced or Bernadette or Howard or all three at the same time? Countless times! In fact, he could say the exact number, as he remembered his own birth. But it's not the math that matters right now. The redundant point in this question is the guarantee that no matter where the train goes, it always returns to the station!

"Oh heavens, Amy!!"

"What?"

"I'm going to be a father!"

"That's what I told you ten minutes ago!"

"Oh God!" he exclaimed.

"Sheldon, are you okay?" Amy worried when her husband started pacing around the room as if he were a drunk in the middle of the street.

"I think I'm going to faint!" Sheldon said and then passed out.

"Is this serious? My hormones are killing me and he's the one passing out?" Amy stared at her husband on the floor. If Sheldon could see himself, he would have a germophobia attack from being sprawled on the rug. Sure enough, he would take a bath in alcohol. The news of the pregnancy really hit him, otherwise Doctor Cleaning would never have been lying on the floor!

As Amy knelt down to help him, she heard Leonard knocking on the door. Upon opening the door, Amy expressed how happy she was to see them. Penny and Leonard exchanged a look that showed how much they didn't understand anything and, pulled by Amy, the two entered the apartment, it was then that the couple came across Sheldon lying in any way near the sofa.

"What did you put in his milk?"

Penny decided to joke before she got really worried.

"Nothing! He passed out on his own!"

"How hilarious!" Leonard smiled and took his cell phone out of his pocket.

"What are you doing?" Amy asked when Leonard started taking pictures.

"I won't miss the opportunity!"

Leonard was having fun.

"Why did Sheldon pass out anyway?"

"Because we're having a baby!"

"Oh my God, Amy! You're pregnant!" Penny clapped her hands. She was also pregnant and loved knowing that her best friend was also going to be a mother. Two first-time moms!

Leonard wanted to congratulate her, he just didn't know exactly how his best friend would play as a father.

"How far along are you?" Penny wanted to know.

"Not long to complete the three months!"

"Three months ago you were receiving the Nobel Prize!" Leonard watched.

"Wow, so it was at the awards?" Penny's brain has never worked so fast.

"What do you think? Do the math, Penny! I was happy, Sheldon was happy! We were all high on adrenaline and two of us was using a medal...some men find a Nobel prize medal very attractive!"

"Naughty Sheldon!" Penny said, perplexed.

"I know how it is!" Leonard chimed in as if he remembered something.

"Looks like our girls' nights out will be filled with prams, bottles and diapers" Penny gave an analysis as Amy went into the kitchen and got some alcohol to wake Sheldon up. Half a minute after she rubbed a damp cloth across his nose, he finally opened his eyes.

"Where am I?" asked a confused Sheldon and Leonard wasted no time, seizing the moment to capture another wonderful photo. The flash bothered Sheldon's eyes, who sternly muttered a "Leonard grow up, don't be a kid!". When he finished saying the word child his brain clicked and then he looked at Amy and then at her belly and he remembered everything.

"Sheldon, you fainted. Do you happen to remember why?" Amy's voice was a melodious sound, patient, sweet and gentle. Even when she used her evil* voice to make him do what he didn't want to do, she couldn't help but be adorable.

"I remember everything!" Sheldon stated and there was a panache in his blue eyes, something like genuine happiness.

As he picked himself up off the ground with the help of his friends, he said nothing. But as soon as he was on his feet, he put his hands on Amy's stomach and, in that way, started talking like a locomotive without brakes.

"I'm pregnant! Amy will give me a child, my first child. I'm going to be a father too, Leonard!"

"Yes you go!" Leonard was happy for his friend.

"I still can't believe our Sheldon finally grew up!" joked Penny. But Sheldon didn't care about anything, just the fact that his life is wonderful and that he wouldn't trade it for anything in the world, not even the opportunity to colonize the planet Mars.

"Are you happy?" Amy asked.

"So much so that I don't know how I can be anymore!"

"Good, because I love you!"

"I love you too! I love you more than I thought I would when we first met!"

"So you felt it too?"

"Of course I felt our meeting was special!" Said Sheldon. "You are the great love of my life!"

"Ohhh Sheldon!"

"Stop it, you're going to make me cry!" Penny requested, waving her hands in front of her eyes.

"You're the man for me, even though I know you're going to pass out during childbirth!"

"Oh he will!" Leonard reaffirmed.

"I will! You bet!"

"I already told you to stop it! There's a pregnant woman watching from the side." Penny looked beautiful at the height of her six months.

"I will stop!" Amy said.

"And I will kiss you!" Sheldon warned and then slowly approached his wife's body as if she were now made of glass and he was afraid of breaking her. Again with his heart overflowing with joy, he kissed her on the mouth without caring about the audience.

Leonard was no longer finding the situation funny. In all his life, since meeting Sheldon, he had never seen him as mature as he was now. It seemed impossible that Sheldon would one day find the perfect woman for him and Amy came along. It seemed impossible for him to fall in love and so he did. It seemed impossible to marry anyone and so did Amy. More impossible would be to see him with a child in his arms and now his wife was pregnant. At that moment, Leonard shed a tear which Penny saw and thought was cute. In seconds, the living room of apartment 4B became an environment where everyone hugged like a big happy family.
