Day Fourteen - Mistletoe
Fred loves his pranks, and this holiday he's decided to catch someone with some charmed mistletoe to annoy them. It just ends up catching the person he least expected.
A/N: This is a Fremione one shot, so if you're not a fan of this pairing feel free to skip this one :)
Hermione was spending the day at The Burrow visiting the Weasley's. She loved being in their house at Christmas. She loved her own house decorations too, but since the Burrow was a magical household, the decorations were extra special, at least to her.
Molly had asked someone to go upstairs and ask Fred to join them all for hot chocolate, since he had spent the last two hours working in his old bedroom. Everyone else, George included, were downstairs celebrating the holiday season with Christmas music, but Fred had insisted he had to get some work done.
Hermione, being the only one not sat comfortably around, had offered to go and fetch the mischievous red head. She should've known it wouldn't be as simple as simply knocking on his door and requesting he follow her back down the stairs.
The second she stood in front of the bedroom door she realised her mistake. She couldn't move. She looked up to find charmed mistletoe hanging above her, and let out a groan of annoyance. Of course Fred would hand up charmed mistletoe to trap whoever would come up to fetch him.
She guessed he had done it to trap someone in his family, since everyone but him was in a relationship and would have to call down the stairs for them to come and help them escape from the mistletoe that trapped whoever stood underneath until until they kissed someone. Unfortunately for Hermione, she wasn't in a relationship.
Fred must've heard her noise of complaint, because he suddenly appeared in the doorway.
'Well, well, well,' what do we have here?' He smirked down at her, leaning against the door frame.
'Fred, you git, why did you have to put up mistletoe here? Now I'm gonna be stuck here all bloody day!'
'Well, dear Hermione, I wasn't expecting you to be the one to come and fetch me from my old room,' he told her. 'Why are you here anyway?'
'Everyone else was already sat down and comfortable, so I offered, and now I regret it.'
'Aw, but Hermione, aren't you glad to see me?' He gave a fake pout.
'Not when you pull stupid tricks that mean I'm stuck here for the foreseeable future. There's no one else in this house for me to kiss to get out from under this thing!'
'Are you sure about that?'
'Of course I'm sure,' she snapped.
'Are you sure you're not forgetting someone?' Fred asked, pushing himself off the doorframe and taking a couple of steps closer.
Hermione looked up at him and realised that yes, she had forgotten someone. The very person who had trapped her here in the first place.
'Oh,' she said simply, a little lost for words.
'Yeah. Oh,' he chuckled. 'So, would you like me to help you get out of this predicament or should be both stay stuck here forever?'
'I suppose you could help me out. I mean, it is your fault after all,' she told him, crossing her arms across her chest and looking at him accusingly.
'Well then, allow me to rectify my mistake.'
Fred wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her towards him gently. She quickly unfolded her arms and wrapped them around his neck as he kissed her gently. She felt the charm wear off, but neither of them pulled away.
They stayed like that for a few moments more before Fred finally pulled back and pressed his forehead to hers.
'Well, that certainly wasn't expecting when I decided to prank someone in this house with the charmed mistletoe.'
'No, I imagine it wasn't.'
'But it was certainly better than anything I had expected.' He gave her a small smile before he pulled away properly and moved his arms from around her, moving to hold her hand in his instead.
'Well maybe you should move the mistletoe,' Hermione suggested innocently. 'You never know who else might appreciate being stuck underneath it.'
'Oh, so you appreciate my prank now do you?'
'Maybe a little.'
'Excellent. And you're right, we should definitely move this elsewhere.'
He reached up to take the mistletoe down and pulled Hermione back over to the stairs.
'Best Christmas holidays ever,' he smirked as they finally made their way into the kitchen after hanging the charmed mistletoe in front of the fireplace for any unsuspecting Floo participants.
