The idea behind this story was once just a romance one note involving Supergirl and an OC. I decided to expand on it and make it a full story. We'll see where this goes! Ideas and comments are welcomed!

Metropolis

03:00:00 CST

Officer Sean Alberto Castillas of the Metropolis Police Department put his cruiser into park. He quickly rushed to the scene of the action. It was a run of the mill robbery. Men armed with shotguns held a number of hostages at bay.

The lead one barked at all of them. "Alright! Nobody move a fucking muscle! We're here for the money and just the cash! Get smart and you end up dead!"

About twelve of his comrades in the MPD rushed to his side. Some of them were armed with shotguns and assault rifles at the ready.

One of them, his longtime partner, a pretty brunette by the name of Rebecca Lane, shot him a look. "Hey partner! What's the plan?"

He then drew his own sidearm and pointed it at the robbers. "Negotiation. Drop the money you morons! Let the hostages go and maybe…just maybe…we will let you go."

The lead then turned to the young officer with a sly grin. "Heh. Sure pig. We'll let them go in exchange for you as a hostage. He then turned to his men and let out a long laugh and aimed the shotgun at him. "Lay down your weapon pig and let us take you as leverage. In exchange….we'll let these fine citizens go about their day."

Sean looked back at his comrades and nodded. I have to do what I can. These are innocents. "Alright, fine. I'm putting mine down. Let them go!" He then laid down his sidearm on the floor.

Rebecca's eyes widened. "Sean. What the hell are you doing?" He then turned to her with a serious look. "Saving lives."

The lead one grinned at him. You are brave and…foolish…for a pig. I halfway respect that. Risking your life for these privileged assholes. They steal from my people and leave us in ghettos! You know that?" He then turned to his crew. "Release the hostages! We have no more need of them now!"

The men complied with his orders and quickly set to work untying and freeing the workers and customers they had corralled in a line.

The hostages eagerly ran to the line of policemen and women who started helping them out of the Central Bank. The lead one spoke again.

Sean realized his accent was heavily Mexican in origin. He was also much bigger and taller than he had surmised before. He wore a heavy set of Kevlar armor and was armed with an assault rifle with a grenade launcher attached. What looked like tunes of some green liquid ran from gauntlets in his arms to a section in his neck. He then cracked his neck and smiled at Sean under his mask. "What's your name, officer?"

Sean turned up to glare at him. "My name is Sean Alberto Castillas. I'm an officer of Metropolis PD." He then spat in Bane's face. "Not that that name should mean much to criminal scum like you pendejo."

Bane wiped the man's spit off his face and laughed. "Well well hermano. You speak the mother tongue well." He then shook his head. "It's a shame you never understood who the real enemy was." He then grunted. "The Caucasians...the powerbrokers...in this city have been beating our people to the ground for years. They've fed off our labor, eaten our food, stolen our culture and our children. Their insolence must be paid in both reparation and blood."

Rebecca then spoke up, alarmed, "That's why you are doing all this? Because of past injustices?"

Bane turned to her with a cold look in his eyes. "Past, present and future." He then turned to Sean and dropped his rifle. It made a large cluttering sound as it hit the ground. He then reached in his pocket and pulled out a large Bowie knife. He then pulled out another one and tossed it at Sean. "Out of respect for the Motherland…I give you one chance to redeem yourself in death to your brethren. A knife fight to the death."

Sean blinked at him. "What about my people?"

Bane grunted. "Your traitorous friends can leave with their heads up high. I have no interest in them…only you."

One of Bane's men then protested. "But Boss…I thought we came here for the money."

Bane glared at the man and proceeded to shoot him in the head. He then turned to the rest of his men. "Anyone else have a problem with my new orders?"

None of the men remaining bothered to raise an argument.

Sean just rose to his feet, picking up the knife, "Fine. I accept those terms!"

Rebecca felt as if her heart were going to break. She adored Sean and thought of him as family in a way. The two of them had grown up together in Texas and had even followed one another to Metropolis when they each got an offer to transfer. "Sean! Please! Don't do this! This is insane!"

Sean turned to her with a serious nod. "You know I'm the one with the rank Rebecca. I will not allow you or anyone else to get hurt on my watch. Stand down. That's an order."

Rebecca glared at him and was about to give him an earful but bit her tongue. She huffed and felt herself blush. Suicidal idiot. Why do I adore him so much? "Fine. But if you die…I'm taking the TV."

Sean turned to her and shook his head laughing. "Deal."

Bane just drew back his knife. "Prepare yourself traitor!" He then attacked with ferocity, striking like a raging brute.

Sean, meanwhile, was dodging out of the way, trying to cut at the bigger man's legs and knees. He knew trying to overpower a big man like Bane was impossible for a man of his size and stature.

Bane howled and groaned in pain, falling down to one knee as a result of some of the cuts. It was a struggle to stay ahead of the brutish gangster. His enhanced abilities made him a danger to Sean.

Sean soon felt his body grow sore from exertion and his arms and legs soon felt like metal weights as if they were going to give out from exhaustion.

Some of the officers were cheered him on.

Sean then realized something. Whatever is in those tunes is giving him strength. I need to separate them. He then grabbed the knife Bane had dropped and aimed for the venom tubes. He threw it with perfect accuracy and with enough speed to sever all three of the tubes.

Bane howled in pain and collapsed to the ground, heavily breathing as the cut tubes made a hissing sound.

One of the officers gasped. "The Lieutenant did it! He beat him!"

Another round of cheers came.

Rebecca let out a long sigh of relief, shaking her head with a smile. He got lucky. He got damn lucky. Sean. You are a fucking moron. But you are a handsome moron. I wouldn't have you any other way.

Sean then let out a deep breath and fell to his knees gasping for breath. The fight had taken a lot out of him.

One of Bane's men, obviously angered that a lone police officer was able to best his boss, quickly brought his rifle up to his shoulder. "Die pendejo!"

Rebecca tried to draw her sidearm in an attempt to stop the thug. "Oh. I don't think so!"

The rest of them followed her lead with their arms. They were too late though as the thug already started blasting away recklessly at Sean with his assault rifle.

Sean closed his eyes and smiled as if to resign himself to his impending demise.

Rebecca cried out in horror. "Sean! No!" She quickly dropped her gun and ran over to act as a human shield for the man she secretly loved.

Luckily for her, that was when Kara made her grand entrance. The gorgeous Kryptonian warrior merely made herself a human shield between the officer and his assailant and even outstretched her arms as if to grant him even move protection. The bullets, although deadly to a human, merely bounced off her armored suit.

She then narrowed her eyes at the thug. "How deplorable! This brave officer agreed to your boss's deal. He put his life and body for those innocents and you try to kill him for it."

The thug, obviously frightened by her apparent invulnerability to his bullets, then started to blast her full-auto with his rifle. "Shut the hell up bitch! Die!"

Kara, angered even more now by his futile attempt to kill her, just walked up to him and bent the receiver backwards. She then activated her heat vision just enough to scare him. "Run off now…before I get angry."

The man then dropped the gun and then tried to make a break for it. He wasn't the only one.

The rest followed his lead.

They soon found themselves in the waiting arms of the MPD officers that had been watching Sean's back.

Kara took in a deep breath and allowed her eyes to return to normal. She smiled. "That takes care of that." She then turned to Sean. "Are you hurt officer?"

Sean blinked at her, shaking his head. "No. I'm fine. Just a little…" As he tried to stand himself back up, he felt his right ankle twist hard right. "Ow! My right ankle! Damn it! I must've twisted it fighting that big guy over there!"

Kara blinked at him confused. "What big guy? What do you m…"

Sean then pointed to Bane's unconscious form on the ground.

Kara glanced between him and the downed Bane. "You took down Bane? How did you manage that?"

Sean grit his teeth and gently rubbed his twisted ankle. "I realized those green tubes in his neck were his source of strength. I cut them with a knife to weaken him."

Batman then walked up to the two of them with both Batgirl and Robin behind him "Not bad officer. It took me a whole lot longer to figure that out when I first fought Bane. You are lucky to be alive."

Sean just gave Batman a nod of agreement. "I'll take your word for it."

Batman nodded back and turned to Kara Zor-El. "We'll take it from here Supergirl. I've got a nice cell in Maximum Security back at Arkham Asylum just for Bane."

Kara beamed at him. "Good. I would sincerely appreciate it if you kept him out of Metropolis from now on. Kal and I have our own rogues gallery, you know."

Batman just grunted in acknowledgement. He then walked over and flipped Bane over his shoulder. "Let's go Robin. Batgirl."

Both Robin and Batgirl gave their shared mentor a smiling nod and followed him.

Batgirl waved back to Kara smiling. "See you Supergirl! Come visit sometime!"

Kara gave her a nod. "Of course. " She then turned to Sean smiling. "Now let us tend to your injuries Sean. Lay down and I'll have a look."

Sean shook his head blushing. "I've had worse Supergirl. I'll just head to a hospital or head on home. You don't need to waste your powers on me."

Kara let out a giggle. "That's noble of you officer but I don't remember asking for your permission."

She then sighed and caressed his face with a hand." You humans are so prideful. It's adorable honestly. Especially you men. What? Does the mere fact that you were saved by a woman threaten your ego?"

Sean looked up at her and balked, "What? No! Don't be ridiculous! I have no issue with your gender! I serve with women on the force! I respect them just as I do the men! To even insinuate…"

Kara then stopped him mid-rant by putting a hand over his mouth. She had a knowing smirk on her face. "Okay then. If you truly respect women then grant me that same respect by letting me tend to your wounds. Please. I feel terrible I wasn't able to make it here in time to prevent this from happening to you in the first place. I'll do it for free."

Sean just sighed and muttered to himself. "Well I already have a bill to pay so…fine."

Kara giggled. "Well okay then. I'm glad we settled that." She then proceeded to pick him up bridal style. "Hold on tight."

Sean's eyes widened at her. "Wait! What are you…" He didn't have time to finish before she flew off with him in her arms.

Some of the men whooped and hollered as they saw their commanding officer get carried away.

Others looked on with jealousy. Rebecca was one of them. She was glaring daggers at the Kryptonian as she flew away. Hey! He's mine!

Fortress of Solitude

The Kryptonian then flew down with Sean in her arms. Sean grunted in frustration. "Did you seriously have to carry me all the way here? I had a cruiser. You could have just driven us here."

Kara let out a laugh and shook her head. "I…actually don't know how to drive. Flying is as natural to me as breathing." She sent him a knowing smile. "I'm surprised to hear you complaining. I saw how some of your men were whooping and cheering as I carried you away. I mean think about it. I was giving you my undivided attention and I did save your life. You were in the arms of a pretty blonde. Most people who end up in your position end up on their knees thanking me and praising me as if I were a God."

Sean sighed, shaking his head. "With all due respect…there is only one God I worship and he's the Creator."

Kara smiled down at him. "So you are a man of God then? That's refreshing. That's a relief. For the record…I've never been comfortable with all the hero worship. It makes me uncomfortable."

She then walked him into the entrance. Sean felt the cold breeze hit him. "Jesus! It's freezing here! Why is it so cold?"

Kara smiled down at him as she laid him on the couch. "This is the Fortress of Solitude. My cousin's home here on Earth. It is modeled after both the temperature and environment on our home planet of Krypton. I share it with him."

She then smiled. "Now don't move. I'll be right back."

Sean just gave her a nod. "Right. I'll just stay right here."

He then laid his head back on the pillow sighing. The Fortress itself was actually quite barren. It wasn't like any sort of Earth-like home he had ever lived in. There were no pictures on the walls of family or friends. There was an old suit of metallic armor that seemed to hang on the wall all by himself. There were scratches and bullet holes all over it. There was another suit that looked seemingly ancient in comparison. The metal was more rusted on this one and it looked really worn down with a large, indicative scratch going across it. That looks peculiar.

"Here we go! Found it!" Kara's cheerful tone suddenly brightened up the room.

Sean turned to her blinking. "This..is quite the place. Very spacious. I assume your cousin likes the quiet."

Kara then kneeled down to his level smirking. "He does. He..has a very stressful, yet important job that leaves him little time to meditate or any sense of peace. That's why this Fortress is so large. It gives him the quiet he needs."

She then began taking off his boots. She then placed her hands and gently started to rub the twisted ankle. "Tell me…how much does it hurt?"

Sean grit his teeth in order to deal with the pain. "A lot. I must've really messed up. Damn it all. I'm going to have to take medical leave."

Kara then shook her head and took one of his hands in hers squeezing it. "Hey. Take it easy. Everything will be alright. I've got something for this. I guarantee you human medicine hasn't even discovered it yet."

She then removed his gloves and then started to blow her cold breath on her hands. Once they were cold enough, she then began rubbing her hands all over his ankles.

Sean let out a long sigh of relief. "I didn't think you had cold presses. There don't seem to be many shelves around this place."

Kara smiled. "That's because I'm not using any kind of equipment. One of my abilities is the ability to breathe ice cold breath. That's what I'm doing to you now.

Sean just nodded, closing his eyes. "That sounds like it comes in handy."

Kara let out a giggle. "It has its uses."

She then unzipped her bag and pulled out the cloth wrappings. She then began to wrap them slowly around the sprained ankles. "Would you mind if I asked you a few questions?"

Sean just nodded. "Uh..yeah..sure. What do you want to know?"

Kara then turned up to him with a warm smile. She felt herself blush a bit. "I'm curious. What made you take on Bane like that all alone? You had to know he was stronger, faster and could take far more punishment than you could deliver."

Sean looked up at her and sighed. "My men and I were surrounded. I knew Bane was dangerous. He offered a chance for me to get them out of there safely. I took it. Not much there."

Kara nodded at him with a look of surprise on her face. "So you just did it out of concern and safety for your men? You jumped into harm's way just like that?"

Sean blinked at her. "You sound surprised."

Kara smirked at him and blew on her hands again to get them cold again. "I've been on Earth for sometime now. Most officers I know leave fighting the supervillains to me and my cousin. It's rare to meet one who is brave enough to actually fight one of them head-on."

Sean nodded. "I see your point but if I'm being honest…Bane isn't much of a supervillain without that greenish liquid pumping in his veins. He literally collapsed when I cut those lines. He's just another terrorist on some kind of power trip. He's a big and brutish but slow…you cut his legs out from under him and he falls down like the rest of them."

Sean then groaned as Kara again rubbed his ankles. "Though I may take your advice next time. I trained to take on hapless thugs not brutes with super-strength. I don't exactly have the fortitude to make it a habit."

Kara giggled and finished wrapping the man's ankles.

She then kneeled in front of him. She then reached in her pocket and pulled out a silver watch. "Give me your left arm."

Sean blinked at her in shock blushing. "Um okay then."

Kara then put the sliver watch on her wrist. It automatically locked itself around his wrist and let out a beeping noise. "This is a Justice League communicator watch."

She then showed Sean her left wrist.

There was a similar sized watch on it. "See. I have one too. With these…we'll be able to keep an eye on one another."

She then pressed a button on her watch. "This is the communicator button. Just hit it and you'll be able to talk to me anytime and anywhere."

Sean just nodded. "Got it."

Kara then put his socks and boots back on and carried him into her arms once more. "Now. Where do you live? I'd like to get you home before my cousin gets back. The last thing I need is him teasing me over having a man over."

Sean just nodded. "I understand. Starlight Apartments. Room 101."

Kara smirked down at him. "Okay. Here we go then."

Starlight Apartments, Metropolis

Room 101

It didn't take long for Kara to fly Sean back to Starlight Apartments. She quickly touched down slowly so as to not injure him further. "You have your key?"

Sean gave her a nod. "I always have my key. Never leave home without it."

Kara smiled and then helped him to his feet. "Okay. I'm still going to wrap an arm around you to help keep you upright."

Sean nodded. He then reached inside a jacket pocket and pulled out a key, entered it into the keylock, turning it until the door unlocked with a click.

He attempted to start walking but almost stumbled and fell.

Luckily, Kara was there to catch him. "It's alright. I've got you."

Sean gave her a nod. "Thanks."

She then helped him walk and then sit on the bed. "Let me draw the covers over you."

Sean laughed nervously. "Ah..come on. I'm not that weak. I can do it myself. You've done enough."

Kara then let out a laugh and turned his face towards hers, speaking in a joking manner. "I think not. It'd be such a waste to have to re-ice my hands. I'd rather not waste my powers again "

She spoke those next words in a rather flirty and joking manner.

Sean blinked at her.

The game of wits between them had evidently fallen in her favor. "A-Alright then."

Kara giggled blushing. What am I doing? We're two different people from two different species. Ah. Kal always told me I need to learn to be more open. I'll give it a shot. "Lay down in the bed and I'll run the covers over you."

Sean nodded and did as she asked. He felt his cheeks heat up and his heartbeat skyrocket. What is this woman doing to me? She's rendering me speechless and making me feel something. I..don't know how to handle this.

Kara sighed contentedly and put her hands to her heart. Maybe we could try this out. It'd be nice to have my own Lois. She then turned around to face him, speaking in a slight stutter. Her cheeks reddened. "Um…I have one last request before I go."

Sean blinked at her again and stood himself up in the bed. "Okay. What is it?"

Kara then glanced up at him smiling rather bashfully and running her hands through her hair. "Would you like to hang out sometime? Maybe at a coffee shop or a sandwich place. I...really like being around you. You are kind of cute and you make me laugh. You are honestly one of the most intriguing humans I've ever met. I'd like to get to know you better."

She then let out a long sigh. "Preferably in an environment that doesn't involve me busting skulls."

Sean just shrugged. "Uh…sure. I mean…I keep a busy schedule but I do have my downtime like everyone else. I could use the break from patrols."

Kara let out an internal squeal of glee. Yes! My first real friend that isn't a superhero! This is more than I could ever hope for! She then rushed over to him and gently took his hands into her own. "Thank you! Thank you! This means so much!"

She then put a hand over his watch. "Just contact me through the communicator. I'll try to answer when I can."

Sean just chuckled nervously. "Heh sure."

Kara smiled warmly at him. "Good. Take care of yourself. I look forward to hearing from you." She then gave him a quick peck on the cheek before walking over to the window and opened it.

The Kryptonian then jumped out the window and flew her way out with much more grace than usual.

Sean then placed a hand where she had kissed him. What the hell just happened?
