The Grinch wants to sleep. Very sleepy Grinch. But those naughty Whos keep on stealing his slumber. "I am most thoroughly displeased by this turn of events," says the Grinch,

But the Grinch is too late for Christmas. It's time to move on. Time for the Grinch to do the right thing. It's time for him to become a hero.

A hero who can no longer hide. A hero who must face his past and come clean.

"I hunger for the flesh of tender young Whos," proclaims the Grinch. He is so hungry he can't even wait for dessert. He begins to devour one of his victims right there in the courtroom, using the victim as his plate. "I am most thoroughly pleased by this turn of events."

He's not finished yet. His appetite only grows. There's one more victim out there waiting to be eaten. Who should the Grinch eat first?

Who would make the best roast?

Who should take his rightful place at the top of Mount Crumpet?

And who, most of all, would love him back?

Only the one who really loves him. Only the one whose heart is bigger than any gift he's ever received.

It's not Ebenezer Scrooge he'll visit that night, but his mother.

"For I have a thirst for her flesh."

The Grinch begins to sing:

"… and she'll taste just like chicken…"

"My mom's always loved me," says the Grinch. "I am most deeply honored by her devotion, which was only strengthened when we were forced together in this terrible accident. She didn't want me to become a monster, but rather, the savior of Christmas. So, instead of sending me to prison, she made me do the right thing. And that's why I have decided to become the Grinch."

It's a long night, as the Grinch searches for his mother's heart. But eventually, he finds it, still warm and beating inside a chest. It's so beautiful. And so very full. It's been so many years since he last heard this sound. And it's time for the Grinch to stop hiding. He has done the right thing.

The Grinch becomes a hero. He can finally go home. The Grinch returns home to be with his family. He goes home to be with his mother.

And when Christmas comes around next year, you can bet the Whos will have their memes ready.

It's never too late for the Grinch. Not ever.
