Chapter 1 – The Start of the Journey
-:-:-
"Nervous?" Ben asked as their contingent approached the outer gates of Moors Castle – the epicenter of Enchancia and their home-away-from-home for the next few months.
"Not anymore," Chad replied, earning a pleased smile from his friend as their horses promenaded at a casual stroll. While vehicles were the main form of transportation in Auradon, Enchancia was a bit more old fashioned and preferred the use of animals or magic when it came to navigating their ancient streets, and out of respect for their customs, the Blue Fairy had teleported their diplomatic envoy – steeds and all – directly to the outskirts of Moors City, the capital of Enchancia.
Who would have thought that above the miles and miles of Wildlands blocked off by Imperial City's Great Wall that there would be yet another Auradon that was equally surprised by their existence as King Adam had been of theirs. It was, of course, General Mulan, King Eugene Fitzherbert, and Lord Consort Aladdin that had made the discovery with their assorted friends, the trio famous for their explorations of the unknown, only no one had actually expected them to ever reach the other side of the Wildlands.
But they had, and with that achievement came the discovery of another collective of kingdoms that peacefully operated with the blissful understanding that they were the only countries on the entirety of the continent.
Oh, the diplomatic meetings that had followed that little surprise.
There had been a few tense weeks where each side sized each other out, analyzing cultures and managing negotiations before they came to the understanding that both sides were good and wanted the best for their people. A bit more talking, and King Adam came to an agreement with Queen Maleficent that perhaps the best way to settle their people's minor unrest at the sudden discovery of an entire mass of humanity was to do things the old-fashioned way.
After all, everyone loved a good wedding. And royal weddings were even better.
That was how a selection of heirs and their assorted handlers were chosen to visit Moors Castle over the summer in an effort to spark love between the young royals of Auradon and the young royals of Enchancia. With the exception of Ben and Chad, every member of their envoy belonged to a kingdom with multiple heirs, meaning that should any marriage agreements be made, their kingdoms back home would still be taken care of.
Technically Chad, like Audrey, should not be a part of this envoy because he was an only child, and as such his priorities would always be first and foremost to Sardinia. However, at the time of the envoy's creation, his grandfather had still held a seat of power on the Sardinian Council and as such, had seen an opportunity to get rid of Chad and gladly took it.
The duke was gone now, but Chad's place in the envoy was set, which was why there had been some creative rearranging with his duty titles. On paper, he was included to keep Ben company, who despite being mostly engaged to Audrey was required to make an appearance as the future heir of Auradon. To keep from spawning more confusion, Chad and Ben were kept to the back of the envoy so as not to be considered future suitors, and as such were allowed to trade small talk without having to worry about the potential of flirting with someone they didn't know for the sake of diplomacy. Chad knew some of his classmates found the prospect exciting – Aziz and Malvin to name a few, and some were wooed by the romantic aspect of it – like Eleaci, the princess of Prydain, but Chad himself was happy setting his sights on Ruby of Corona, or maybe Jane, who were both super nice and super pretty and would definitely look nice in his mother's shoes.
"Yeah," Ben said softly, drawing Chad's attention back to the present. "I don't envy the others. Even though we're trained to put our duties before our hearts, we were always brought up with the expectation that any political alliances our marriages could bring would be within Auradon. To get engaged to someone from a completely different world…"
"I think Aziz is excited about it," Chad offered. "Or he's pretending to be."
"Aziz understands his duty," Ben said, his smile fond. "I'm just lucky that my family's so close to the Roses, otherwise I'd be up front with the others."
"Eh, maybe not," Chad said. "I don't think the heir to the United States of Enchancia is part of the romance contingent or whatever they're calling it. You guys get an important people free pass."
Like every other time Chad mentioned this, a light flush built up on Ben's cheeks. "I'm no more important than you are."
"That is arguably not true," Chad replied. "But very sweet and thoughtful of you, and I really appreciate it and your friendship."
Now that Chad's grandfather wasn't breathing down his neck and criticizing his every move, he could do things like be open about his affections. It was something Chad was working through with his therapist, who he would be calling weekly to manage his sessions outside of Auradon. Both Dr. Sweet and Chad's father had been worried about Chad relapsing into bad habits when he left the safety net he had literally just created, but with Chad's new, unimportant person status in the envoy combined with Ben's presence- well, it didn't seem so bad. Also, it was an excuse for him to get to room with Ben despite them being princes who would normally require their own rooms, so that was super cool.
If anything, that made Ben's flush darken. "I appreciate you too," he said, as always entirely sincere. "I'm grateful that you're here with me. I won't lie, I am a little nervous about this. This is my first time representing Auradon without my parents watching my back. It's… worrying."
"That's fair," Chad said, because he could say that now. It was true and he could say it instead of trying to hold himself up to unrealistic standards. "They might not be here, but I am, and I'll totally watch your back for them. Because it is my job, yes, but also because you're my best bud."
A smile spread across Ben's face, not even close to the reserved ones he used for public appearances, ones that could be easily maintained and were just the right amount of politely engaged. No, this was a true smile, one that spoke of overt happiness, and it was just for Chad.
"You're my best friend too," Ben said. "And I um- also have your back."
"Then we're good," Chad chirped. "There's no reason to overthink this. Let the other guys worry about wooing and stuff, we'll just check out the libraries and museums and wildlife and get cultured. Your dad can't get mad at you for that."
"Definitely not," Ben agreed as their horses trotted forward, into the unknown.
-:-:-
The castle courtyard was large but their envoy was obnoxiously big, so much so that they didn't all fit inside, leaving the back half to be discretely and politely led around the majestic walls of the castle to be let into a side gate where their horses would be taken to the stables and their luggage up to their rooms. The others would receive a proper greeting and welcome by the crown royals of Enchancia, likely getting a view of the heirs they were supposed to be chatting up, but Ben and Chad were in the unimportant part of the envoy so they got shown inside to a minor reception hall for food and drinks and mingling with other minor dignitaries before they'd eventually be shown to their rooms.
"You are a good boy and I love you," Chad told his horse before it was led off by a groomsmen, and he didn't even care about the strange look he received for it when Major let out a pleased neigh that expressed his own affections, letting out a huff that ruffled Chad's curls as he promised to look after Phillipe Junior – Ben's horse. "You are also a good boy," Chad informed Phillipe Junior, who was entirely unaccustomed to people talking to him, and let out a bashful whinny that Major laughed at.
"This is the life," Ben hummed as they huddled near one of the windows that looked out onto the fantastical gardens of the Moors Castle, each of them armed with a tasty cup of punch. "Immediate snacks and no awkward introductions."
"And later, there will be books," Chad said, earning a pleased grin from Ben. They were, without question, the youngest people in the reception hall, and the Enchancian dignitaries likely thought they were the sons of some royal aides that had tagged along for an adventure. As such, they were mostly left alone, which was just fine with Chad, who wanted a shot at sketching some of those pretty flowers anyway.
"Still giving drawing a go?" Ben asked when Chad took out the small sketchbook he had tucked into his jacket, his empty punch cup taken away by a waiter who seemed confused by their existence but pleased with their reserved manner.
"I can only get better with practice," Chad informed him, focusing on the closest flower and getting to work sketching a rough outline.
In truth, the only thing he was naturally good at drawing were clothes, but he'd been getting steadily better at plant life. He liked to think his mother's affection for such things allowed him a greater aptitude, but realistically, he was sure it was because he had his own appreciation for pretty flowers. It was one of the reasons his grandfather had always called him a ninny, even though he wasn't a ninny. He was a great prince, and masculinity was not dictated by a stubborn appreciation of sports and a lack of emotional aptitude.
"That's true," Ben allowed, but there was a hint of something in his voice. "But you don't need to do this to win Ruby over."
"I know," Chad chirped, catching Ben's shoulder slump with relief in his peripherals. "But if I get good at drawing when she's already great at art, we can bond over it, and then we'll be on our way to becoming friends, and thus step one of my plan to woo her is complete."
Before, under his grandfather, Chad wouldn't have had a plan for wooing anyone, least of all Princess Ruby of Corona. It was only now that he had the confidence to think he deserved romance in his life, and more than that, that he deserved someone as nice and kind and talented as Ruby. Their kingdoms were relatively close to each other, and her older sister could easily be heir to Corona, meaning Ruby could potentially marry another royal. Granted, that was why she was in the young royals' reception in the fancier parts of the castle right now as well. Chad knew he couldn't come between her and any of the Enchancian heirs, but there were enough princesses in the Auradon contingent that he thought maybe he had a chance of winning her over. Maybe.
"It's good to have a plan," Ben said, always supportive. "And I'm glad you're feeling comfortable enough to pursue someone, but-"
"I won't get in the way," Chad assured his friend, giving him a fond smile. "I promise. There will be no diplomatic issues from me. Besides," he continued, ducking his head. "I know Ruby's a longshot. Probably an impossible one, but if she isn't interested, I think I'm gonna ask out Jane." At Ben's startled look, he continued. "I held off because she was my Fairy Godperson and I was afraid that might be weird, but she's also really pretty and nice and organized and smart, and I think I could make her happy."
Maybe. Hopefully.
"At least," Chad continued. "I would try really hard to."
That seemed to make something soften in Ben's smile. "I know you would, bud," he said, voice gentle. "Jane would be lucky to date you."
"Thank you," Chad said, feeling his cheeks heat in a happy flush. "It's kind of scary. Dating, I mean. For so long I was terrified to do it because of all the stuff my grandfather said, but now that I can… I don't know." He shrugged. "I guess part of me's worried that he was right."
"He wasn't right," Ben said, his voice firm. "Not even close. As long as you are yourself – the one that reassures Phillipe and likes to draw flowers and has my back – the only thing anyone will see is how amazing you are."
"Aw, Ben," Chad said, ducking his head as he felt his flush intensify. "You sap."
"I only speak the truth," Ben hummed. "Now, why don't you finish that flower?"
"As my king demands," Chad said, throwing himself back into work.
He'd finished one foreign flower and started on another when Ben cleared his throat, and Chad looked up to see another teen lingering shyly not far from them, seeming torn as to how to make an approach.
"Hello," Ben greeted, as gentle and welcoming as always. "I'm Ben."
"I'm Chad," Chad offered with a grin. "Your coat is very snazzy."
The kid blinked, looking down at his clothes as though he'd forgotten what he had on before flushing. His coat really was spiffy – a combination of black and white fabrics that made it seem more akin to art rather than fashion. His hair was black and white too, and his outfit was accented with pops of red that would make Lonnie happy.
"Thank you," the kid said, his voice softer than Ben's. "My friend made it for me."
"No fooling?" Chad walked over to the kid to get a better look at the seam work and definitely staring far too much. "Wow. Wow. Ben, look at the- the zippers, and the-" Chad trailed off, feeling sort of overwhelmed but mostly in awe. "Wow."
"Chad designs clothes," Ben offered the new kid offhandedly, like that was not a secret Chad was still working up to share with people who weren't Ben or Dr. Sweet. If he'd wanted it to stay private though, he probably should have mentioned that part to Ben. Whoops.
He'd get better at this communication thing in time. It was all trial and error.
"Not well," Chad said with a flush, mentally moving on. "And nothing as pretty as this. Don't listen to Ben, he oversells things, he's an overseller-"
"Do you have pictures?" the kid asked, pointing to his sketchbook.
Chad was pretty sure he flushed down to his toes. "Some," he said, flipping back a few pages and bashfully offering a picture of the last ballgown his dumb brain had to design. "My mother was a seamstress, so I took it up to connect with her." He chewed on his bottom lip when the kid flipped back to see some of his other dresses. "That's why I have so many dresses. I'm not a weirdo."
"No, you're not," Ben agreed, his voice firm. "There's nothing wrong with a guy designing dresses, and your mother would be thrilled with your work."
"She would," new kid agreed, immediately winning points with Ben. "This is very good."
"T-Thank you," Chad said, embarrassed and pleased all in one. "That means a lot coming from a snazzy dresser such as yourself."
That earned him a slightly wider smile, the other kid beginning to seem more at ease. "I'm Carlos," he said, holding out his hand for Chad to shake. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
"The pleasure's mine," Chad said, shaking his hand and backing off so Ben could do the same. "Ours, I mean. Definitely ours."
"Definitely," Ben agreed with a hum. "I'll admit, it's nice to see a younger face here."
"Dude, I feel the same," Carlos said, seeming to have determined that they were worthy of slang. Neat. "I was honestly surprised when I saw you guys. I was spectating the other welcome committee but had to back out because there was just- a lot of good looking people, and they all wanted to talk." He gave a shrug. "Came in here to snag some food and didn't actually expect to see someone my age."
Chad would panic that this was a wayward Enchancian prince, only there wasn't one by the name of Carlos for one, and two, there was no way he would have been allowed out of the meeting without mingling the socially acceptable allotted amount of time.
"That is a fair deduction," Chad said. "And a fair choice, the snacks in here are delicious."
"Agreed," Carlos said, a pleased flush spilling across the bridge of his nose.
"What's your take on how things went in there?" Ben asked. "Any squabbles?"
"Slap fights?" Chad asked, giggling at Audrey's preferred form of combat.
She was a mighty princess, that was for sure. While her preferred method for handling conflict tended to be more hands off, if someone dared to harass her friends, she wasn't afraid of throwing down. As was expected of a princess that came from two warrior kingdoms.
Honestly, the slaps were Audrey being kind. If she wanted to do actual damage, she would have thrown punches.
"Love at first sight?" Ben offered with a wag of his brows that left Carlos laughing.
"Nothing that exciting," Carlos said. "You know how it is. It's a bunch of good-looking strangers shoved together at the behest of their duties. They'll be civil, flirt a little, and try to come to terms with the fact that at least a few of them will definitely have a marriage contract by the time the summer's up."
"Ouch," Chad said, wincing slightly. "That is rough."
"That's duty," Carlos said with enough acceptance that while it didn't seem to affect him, he was at least familiar with the effects of such things. "They can be bitter about it or they can look on the bright side."
"One bright side is that all the Auradon royals are super nice," Chad offered, getting a surprised look from Carlos. "I mean- we have a private school that a lot of the children of dignitaries attend. So we've met them before."
"That's an interesting idea," Carlos said, looking thoughtful. "We should definitely steal that; it sounds way more efficient to have young royals bond with each other at a young age rather than try and figure out how to work together when they're forced to."
"Yeah, exactly!" Chad chirped. "You guys should. Or maybe some of you could come to Auradon Prep one day – that would be fun too. Or we could come to your school."
"The possibilities are endless," Ben said, his tone openly fond in a way that made Chad feel very warm inside.
Chad was about to go on, happy to have made a new friend without the weight of his title, when a throat cleared beside them. They looked over to see Lumiere waiting for them with a pleased smile, one of the Moors Castle attendants standing next to him.
"I believe we're going to be shown to our room now," Ben offered to Carlos. "It was a pleasure meeting you."
"Likewise," Carlos chirped, shaking both of their hands again. "Will I see you at any of the royal excursions?"
"No," Chad said, making a face. "But you'll definitely find us in the library. We are going to read all the books."
"Or make a valiant attempt to," Ben offered. "Goodnight, Carlos."
"Goodnight, Ben," Carlos said, grinning. "Chad."
"Goodnight!" Chad said, wiggling his fingers as a sort of goodbye before he fell into step with Ben, both of them trailing after Lumiere who was tasked with watching after their wellbeing for this trip.
"Well," Ben said as they were guided through private hallways. "At least nothing was set on fire."
"That's definitely a high point," Chad chirped. "They've got one up on Malvin's birthday party, at least."
Ben made a face. "Don't remind me of that."
"How could I not?" Chad said. "James singed off half his eyebrow. It was hilarious."
"The punishments that followed afterwards definitely weren't," Ben said, and Chad had to concede to his point.
-:-:-
There was nothing quite like settling down at a home away from home after a day's journey, and Chad found he quite liked the cozy room he and Ben were shown to. He wasn't sure if the manager of Moors Castle had been informed of Ben's position or if they merely slotted everyone who was part of the less important section of the diplomatic contingent together, but either way Ben and Chad ended up sharing a nice guest room in one of the halls that was likely intended for guests of lesser importance.
Chad didn't mind though, because they still had two beds and a window and their own bathroom, and the window even had a window seat, which was everything he needed in life. The windows to his room back home had been boarded up before his grandfather's arrest, leaving Chad yearning for the outdoors, for sunlight, for animals and plants, but now he had all of that in spades, so he was perfectly happy.
"It's nice," Ben said gently as they unloaded two weeks' worth of clothing into their dressers and closet. "I like how…"
"Earthy it is?" Chad offered. "Yeah, that's definitely cool beans."
Moors Castle seemed to be designed to work with nature, the natural greenery of the Fae's homeland weaving through the architecture until they worked together as one. The kingdom hosted a variety of mythical species as well as humans, who settled in the stone-based, more structural part of the castle. The Fae seemed to prefer the more earthy areas, and while Chad wasn't sure where they stayed, it was pretty neat to see them walking around with their huge wings – Dark Fae talking to sprites and nymphs, humans giving them bright greetings before scurrying off to do their own work.
It really did feel like a fairytale.
"I think I love this place a lot," Chad declared, looking out into the Moors evening, the gardens seeming to sport various glowing plants that made everything seem much more whimsical. When he turned back to check Ben's opinion, he paused, because the other prince had pinned him with a hopelessly fond expression. "What?"
"Nothing," Ben said. "Just- it's nice how you always find the bright side of things now, instead of fixating on your worries."
"I think I prefer it," Chad replied honestly. "I used to be scared all the time, and I'd try to find what was good and hold onto that, but my grandpa…" Chad trailed off with a shrug. "Now I can tell my dad about the bird nest I discovered or the new plants blossoming in the garden and he thinks it's just as cool as I do, which is about as much validation as I'll ever need."
"They're good things to hold onto," Ben said, giving him a kind smile. "And I think they're pretty cool too."
"Aw, thanks," Chad said, ducking his head bashfully. "I really appreciate it."
"I only speak the truth," Ben hummed with a smile. "Would you like to take the first shower?"
"Sure," Chad chirped, gathering up his toiletries and a change of clothes. "You go ahead and pick whichever bed you want, I'm fine with whatever."
"Noted," Ben replied, and then they separated, Chad off to test off their new facilities with a bounce in his step.
-:-:-
The shower they were given was designed to drop water almost like rain, letting it trickle down from directly overhead in a gentle lull that made Chad grin. The shower was partitioned off by stone – no glass or doors in sight, opting for a more natural look which definitely jived with Chad.
He didn't linger long though, not wanting to hog the hot water, so he got through his routine with his usual efficiency, slipping into his comfy pajamas and waving Ben on as he settled onto the bed that didn't have his stuff. He updated his journal and looked over his schedule for the upcoming week (which was empty in a sort of glorious way that made him giggle with possibilities, Chad used to being overscheduled, if anything), making a note as to what questions he could ask their guide during the orientation tomorrow morning before he settled in to enjoy some light leisure reading.
He could do that now without getting yelled at for wasting his time. He could read stories rife with happily ever afters and no one would get mad at him, because it was a totally respectable pursuit.
Ben came out of the shower not long after, clad in his dressing robe and slippers – on point even in comfy clothes – before he started getting his own stuff together for the next day. Ben was allotted more free time like Chad, but he definitely had more meetings to attend. He was still required to rub elbows and familiarize himself with the Enchancian higher ups while also learning about their systems of government, seeing what they had that could possibly be taken back to Auradon proper for implementation. It meant Chad would be spending some time on his own, but where before Chad may have panicked at the thought of being left to drift in a foreign kingdom, now he was eager for the adventure and learning opportunity it could provide.
Plus, he could always retreat to their room if he was feeling overwhelmed, Dr. Sweet had said as much. There was no harm in having a home base, and home bases were used when you felt stressed or worried. It was always good to have a place to retreat back to where you felt safe, where you could unwind, and even if Chad ended up spending the majority of the trip in his room, his family would still be proud of him instead of thinking he was pathetic, because he'd tried.
That knowledge, combined with the massive amount of notes he knew he was going to take during their orientation, gave him the courage he needed to really settle in, cheer keeping his anxiety at bay as they started winding down for the night, Ben leaving a far lamp on so the room wouldn't be totally bathed in darkness, just for Chad.
Chad, who wasn't a baby for disliking the dark when it had been used to hurt him so much, and there was nothing wrong with having a nightlight if it helped him rest easier. Sleep was important, so they all needed to do what was necessary to ensure they had the most restful time as possible.
It was only when they were actually climbing into their beds that Ben cleared his throat.
"Um," the other prince fidgeted on the edge of his bed, his hands twitching in the soft fabric of his comforter. "Do you still have nightmares sometimes?"
Stress nightmares had always been a problem for Chad, though no one had known because his grandfather had managed to get him a single dorm room at Auradon Prep. The night staff at Sardinia Castle were already used to his shouts, and even if they hadn't been, his grandfather had gotten him a gag to combat that so he could be quiet for once.
These were just more things Chad hadn't realized weren't normal until he'd gotten therapy, Dr. Sweet's gaze looking pinched when he explained how rare it was for him to get a good night's sleep.
"Not so much," Chad allowed with a shrug. "I haven't in the past week, but I won't lie, it might act up." He considered his options for a moment. "I could sleep in the closet if you like."
"No, no," Ben said, his tone firm enough that Chad knew it would never be an option for them, which was kind of sweet, if he thought about it. "No, we're not doing that. Just- I um- I was thinking- well, I read something about how sharing a bed could lessen the possibilities for nightmares, so if you didn't mind… well, you can sleep with me, if you want."
"Really?" Chad asked, eyes going wide. He'd never shared a bed with anyone, though according to Aziz, it wasn't uncommon for children to sleep with their parents after they had nightmares, at least when they were little. He supposed based on that information, Ben's hypothesis wasn't far off. "I'd like that."
Just like that, whatever anxiety Ben had seemed to fade away, and it was then that Chad realized the other prince had been afraid Chad would turn him down. "Great," he said, pushing his covers back and sliding into bed. "Do you have a preferred side?"
"Pretty sure I don't," Chad chirped, happily taking up the spot Ben had vacated ang grinning when the brunette dragged the blankets over them. "Thanks, Ben. I really appreciate this."
"You're welcome," Ben said, giving him a wide smile. "I'm always happy to help. And, you know, who doesn't enjoy a good cuddle?"
"Wise words to live by," Chad hummed before he burrowed into the pillows, closing his eyes to the sound of Ben's soft laughter.
Overall, it was a good first day.

Endnotes:
So I did end up posting on Friday after all! Some backstory to that: the computer I was working on had been acting up for a while, and I ended up taking it into the stop. I'm currently posting from a different computer until I get it back, but that's the reason for delayed updates/replies. Everything is still good over here, I'm fine, by computer just needed some attention :)
But onto happier things!
Believe it or not, this story was inspired by the song 'This is My Idea' from the Swan Princess movie. It popped up on my YouTube recommended and I was hit with the thought of how much the VKs would hate an arranged marriage, which somehow let to the creation of this AU.
This story will consist of 20 chapters of story content with an additional epilogue that will be posted along with the final chapter, as well as a chapter of deleted scenes, probably. I update once a week, generally on Sundays, but because things have been so crazy lately, I decided to make an effort to update twice a week. So there will be one update on Sunday and one update on Wednesday/Thursday for now :D
Please let me know if I missed anything in the tags. I prefer to ere on the side of caution with these things, but when you've been staring at something for so long, it can be easy for things to slip through the cracks. I'm also pretty sure I'm missing some sort of body confidence tags for this one, but I'm not entirely sure how to explain it, so if anyone has any idea, please comment! :)
Just a heads up – I update the story tags as I go in order to avoid spoilers. So characters, pairings, content warnings – all will be updated in correlation to the appropriate chapter as they are posted. Also, if you see a tag you're worried about, check the forenotes – the more hard-hitting stuff will have more thorough warnings listed there.
Story notes:
Ben is just – the smoothest of smooth.
Enchancia is very much stolen from the animated show Sofia the First, as are some of the kingdoms the contingent or whatever I called them will be visiting. The VKs all have loving families in this AU, so see where that takes them with the adventures of Soft Chad ;D
Dr. Sweet is from the movie Atlantis. Enchancia is technically from the show Sophia the First, though I mostly just stole the name for a counter to Auradon. Because unlike King Adam, Malificent's not going to name their union of kingdoms after just one of them. So Enchancia is the union of kingdoms, but her kingdom in specific is the Moors.
Sardinia my name for Cinderellasburg, because, you know, Cinderellasburg is a straight up stupid name ;)
Malvin and Eleaci are OCs invented for the purpose of rounding off the AKs. Malvin is from DunBroch (aka Brave) and Prydain is from The Black Cauldron. James is also an OC, he is the prince of Deep Jungle, Tarzan's kingdom.
I consider this one of my anniversary pieces. Every year I try to post something on the day I posted my first fanfic to commemorate a year passing by. This is my twelfth anniversary piece to mark twelve years of writing. Amazing how time flies :)
