General Noah Gesford was standing at the bridge of his Viscount-class Mon-Calamari cruiser looking down at the Runeterra System. Today was the same as every day for the past twenty standard years. Monitoring. Making sure the Empire doesn't strike. He took a sip of his Jawa Juice. "Anything to report on?", he asked the Monitor droids. "No, sir", they responded.
He then sat down and relaxed. Today was going to be a good day. Just then, two Imperial Star Destroyers shot out of hyperspace. A squadron of TIE fighters left each of their hangar bays. A third star destroyer appeared. This one launched all seventy- two TIE fighters along with one squadron of TIE bombers. They all sped toward the patrolling cruisers and began firing.
General Gesford leapt out of his seat and ran to the intercom. "All fighters to your stations! This is not a drill." He turned around and flipped on the holotable. Admirals Sherman and Ayotte were already there discussing strategy. "Get three squadrons of X-wings out there armed with proton torpedoes. We must disable those star destroyers before more arrive." he said.
As if on cue, three absolutely massive dreadnoughts blasted out of hyperspace. The general had never seen any ship that huge before. It had to be at least fifteen thousand meters. It had a slightly rounded back-end and in the front it had what looked to be a battering ram. And– Oh shit. They were headed towards Sherman's and Ayotte's ships.
" Get your ships out of the way of those dreadnoughts! They're headed right for you!" General Gesford yelled. But it was too late. They rammed right through the cruisers. But he had no time for sorrow. Those ships were turning around. He turned to the pilots and said: "Get us the blazes out of here!"
The pilots nodded and they quickly fired the engines. "Sir" One of them said, "they've locked onto us with their tractor beams."
"What!? No tractor beam is powerful enough for a ship this big. Damn it. Abandon ship. Prepare the escape pods."
Even though he had just issued that order he still felt a foolish hope. Said hope wasn't truly gone until the seventh ship exited hyperspace. This one was even larger. He recognized it. The Eclipse. Okay, now his day could not possibly get any worse. The Emperor himself bothered to show up.
"We are going to those esca–"
~oOo~
" The last Viscount is in our sights, sir." said Commander Stakato.
"Excellent," said Admiral Epstein. He looked down at the hologram of the Emperor aboard the Eclipse. The Emperor nodded. The Admiral looked at Commander Stakato and Said: "Commander, fire at will."
The Commander pressed the comm button and told the gunners to commence fire
.
Green light gathered at the side of the Sovereign. It built up until it reached the front of the destroyer, glowing brighter and brighter. Eventually, the ray shields containing it couldn't do so anymore. The super-laser barreled out of the Sovereign and right through the remaining Mon-Calamari cruiser.
It blew up. Cheers went around the Sovereign at the incompetence of General Gesford. But it didn't last long. There were still smaller cruisers headed their way. Though for now the TIE fighters seemed to be taking care of them.

On the Eclipse, Emperor Lucifer Arrhenius looked out the bridge window watching the battle. He smiled, the incompetence of the Triumvirate amused him.
His former Grand Admiral had leaked information to the Triumvirate. That had caused the Empire to lose the Runeterran War. he had personally executed the Grand Admiral for treason. Now, the Emperor was avenging the Empire's defeat. It couldn't have been better. They had the element of surprise, and Triumvirate Academy couldn't train officers that were anything close to capable. He smiled again. "Captain Farrell, move the Eclipse into position."
"Yes, my lord." responded the captain. He turned to the pilots and nodded.
Then alarms sounded. The captain spun around and looked out the window. A Mon- Calamari cruiser was right next to them and firing at them. "Fire the main batteries!" yelled Captain Farrell. Immediately they took out a Mon- cal engine.
"When will we be in position, Captain?" Asked the Emperor.
"Right, about, now!" he responded. "Shall I start the firing procedures?"
"Yes captain, fire when ready."
The captain nodded and sent the message to the gunners.
At the front of the ship a door opened. A humming noise came from it. From the four points that made up the cross on the front came four lasers. The humming grew louder as lasers converged in front of the door. The humming stopped. A fifth laser shot out through that door. Amplified by the other lasers, a streak of green barreled towards Runeterra.
The laser hit the planetary shield.
One second.
Two seconds.
The shield rippled.
Three seconds.
Four seconds.
At five seconds the shield failed. The super-laser continued toward the surface.
It struck true. It split through the crust without any trouble. Magma exploded from the mantle melting more of the broken crust. The surface cracked, then magma. The surface cracked, then magma. Over and over until the entire planet was a volcanic wasteland.
Cheers erupted on the Eclipse. The maiden voyage of the Eclipse III was a success. Emperor Arrhenius and Captain Farrell embraced each other.
The Emperor laughed. "Captain. This may have been a success but we must get out of here. Turn this ship around and plot a course to the Imperial city. I'm sure more Triumvirate ships will be arriving soon.
