Cold was the night in Royal Woods City as the gale force winds blew through the city. Only a madman would go out on a night like this, but someone was walking in this weather. Now, if you're anything like me, you'd probably wondering what this person was doing walking in gale force winds in the dark. But you needn't worry about it. It was only a 15 year old girl named Luan Loud.
Luan was a girl with light brown hair worn up in a large ponytail with a small swirl at the end held in place by a yellow scrunchie with two long protruding hairs sticking out from the center of her forehead and prominent buck teeth. She was dressed in a white sleeveless shirt, a yellow skirt with a checkerboard pattern, yellow socks with a line pattern that are worn all the way up, and brown shoes. She also had three pink flowers, one on her shirt, and one on each shoe. From the look of her, you'd think she hadn't bathed or washed her clothes in weeks because she was covered in muck from head to toe. She was also very very sad.
But Luan wasn't always so gloomy. She used to be a very goofy and fun-loving girl with an enthusiasm for comedy and making puns. Her goal was to make the world laugh along with her. Being the fourth eldest sibling of her family, she took it upon herself to liven things for her family. Wasn't that thoughtful of her? She always had a positive and cheerful attitude. She was very optimistic, as she liked to support her siblings, and especially make them laugh and feel better. There was also the April Fools Day incidents but we don't talk about them.
However that all changed one Christmas when she was caught in a lab accident that killed both of her loving parents which enough sadness to last anyone a lifetime. But in Luan's case, she was there with her nine sisters and one brother. So they were directly involved with it. Luckily, thanks to a device made her sister Lisa, Luan and her siblings were able to escape just as the lab disappeared. Their parents were not so lucky as they were trapped in the room were Lisa was working. Luan still had nightmares of the accident and believed she was the cause of it.
After the accident, Luan's brother Lincoln somehow become corrupt and cruel. He became obsessed with order and perfection that he banned his sisters from their activities and wouldn't them leave the house! Anyone who defied him was locked in the basement for a week and something special to them was taken from them and barred up in the attic. Her other sisters were scared by their brother's sudden changes but they reluctantly fell into line. But not Luan. She tried as hard as she could to make her brother smile but nothing she tried worked. Every one of her usual gags failed and she always ended up getting locked up. Not even a balloon animal could make him smile! After a failed attempt to make him smile, Luan tried to make peace with her brother but Lincoln snapped these words at his sister.
"I trust no one, but myself. You and the others are nothing to me! You never were, and you never will be."
Luan was shocked by this. After being released from the basement, she realised that her brother would never change and nothing would ever get better for her family. At this time, Lincoln had taken away almost all of her stuff except Mr. Coconuts, her ventriloquist dummy and her favourite card, the Odd-Eyes Dragon. The card had been a gift from her Dad who believed that Luan would one day she would make the world smile. But that day, Luan felt that she had failed her father's wishes.
But Luan had discovered that the accident that had taken their parents away from them had also done something to her and her siblings. As time went on, Luan stayed pretty much the same as she always did. When she decided to talk to Lisa about it, she found out that the accident had stunned their growth meaning they would never get older or die. Luan felt like the world was crumbling down around her. Not only was she stuck in her brother's vice like grip, but she was stuck as a 15 year old for all of eternity.
So one day Luan decided that she had enough. If things weren't gonna change at home, She had to leave. Or Lincoln would keep making her life miserable. So that explains why she was out on the street in the cold cruel night with only Mr. Coconuts (who was inside a backpack) and Odd-Eyes Dragon for company. Luan was cold but she didn't stop. She knew that it was only a matter of time before her brother found out that she was gone and if he found her, she would be locked in the basement for all of eternity. She wished she had bought a jacket with her but all her clothes were locked away in the attic. And she left in quite a hurry to avoid getting caught by Lincoln. She didn't even have time to say goodbye to her sisters. But it was too late for regrets. She had to keep on moving.
Eventually Luan arrived in Royal Woods Park tired and shivering. She sat down on a bench and slowly caught her breath. She looked up at the stars in the sky sadly.
"Now what am I going to do?" Luan sighed. "I got nowhere to go and no one to turn to. And if Lincoln catches me I'm dead!" She looked around at the moonlit park. Everything looked so magical under the moon's golden glow and despite the wind, it was actually quite a pleasant night. She could see now why her sister Lucy loved taking a moonlight stroll before she and her sisters were forced into their imprisonment. Luan felt that she had done the right thing but she also felt guilty about leaving her sisters behind in their brother's cold cruel hands. She wished that she could have helped them escape from his cold cruel tyranny but they would've slowed her down. Even Lily, the youngest daughter of the Loud family would've been a problem to take with her. If she started crying, it would be all over for her.
Luan looked up the stars with sadness in her eyes. She pulled Odd-Eyes Dragon out of her shirt pocket and stared at it for a while.
"I wish." Luan started before she choked back a sob. She hated this. Lincoln had forced her to leave home. Looking back on retrospect, She should've stood her ground and tried to reason with Lincoln a little more. But she didn't and well, here she was. At this point Luan was starving and freezing. She started to cry, upset with herself for leaving her family and for Lincoln acting like his family didn't matter. It wasn't fair!
Finally Luan Looked up to the stars, tears still in her eyes. "I know I've done terrible things to you in the past Linc. But this shouldn't stop us from being a family! I just want to know what it's like to have fun and make friends again."
Suddenly Odd-Eyes Dragon began to glow in Luan's pocket. She pulled it out in shock. Odd-Eyes had never done this before! Just then Luan noticed three objects at her feet. She bent down to pick it up. The three objects turned out to be Card Wars cards.
Luan looked at the three cards that she picked up. They looked like normal Card Wars cards. But something was different about them. She pulled out Odd-Eyes Dragon. But somehow Odd-Eyes had changed. "NO WAY!"Luan gasped. Odd-Eyes had somehow changed to match the other cards. Even the name of the card had changed.
Luan looked at the four cards. What was going on? Why was Odd-Eyes reacting to these cards? Were they part of a set? Suddenly the four cards started to glow causing Luan to shield her eyes. Suddenly Luan disappeared in in a bright flash of light. When the flash dissipated Luan Loud was nowhere to be seen. Even Mr. Coconuts had been disappeared in the flash.
