Day Twenty-Six - Hot Chocolate
After a snowball fight at The Burrow, everyone gathers inside to warm up with some hot chocolate.
Not everyone had been out in the snow all afternoon, but those who hadn't were more than happy to settle in the living room with the others and some hot chocolate. It was the quiet time between Christmas and New Years, so everyone had gathered together for the day.
Hermione and George were sat cuddled together in one of the arm chairs while Hermione read her new book.
Harry and Ginny were sat on the floor playing with young Teddy, while Bill and Fleur sat nearby with Victoire making sure she didn't put any of the toys in her mouth and try to eat them.
Molly and Arthur were sat with Remus and Tonks on one of the sofas, catching up with Andromeda, Ted, Lucius and Narcissa. The Black family sisters had recently reconciled and were thrilled to be invited to The Burrow over the holidays.
Ron and Draco were occupying a spot in the corner, engaged in a game of wizards chess.
Fred and Charlie were being mysteriously quiet in the two remaining arm chairs. They were busy trying not to laugh or look too suspicious, since they'd spiked everyone's hot chocolate with Fire Whiskey.
'Fred, Charlie, why are you two being so quiet?' Arthur finally asked. It was unnerving him.
'No reason,' Fred shrugged innocently.
George shared a look with his brother. He could always tell when he was up to something.
'Boys, if you're planning to prank someone, I'd seriously reconsider that decision,' Molly told them sternly.
'Ah,' Fred said simply.
'See, mum, that might be a little difficult,' he began hesitantly. 'We may have already pranked someone…'
'Or everyone,' Fred mumbled.
Everyone but Teddy and Victoire turned their heads to Fred and Charlie.
'What did you do?' Hermione asked worriedly.
'Nothing too bad, don't worry,' Charlie rushed to reassure them.
'You all just might want to think carefully when you go to travel home,' Fred continued.
'Because we may have spiked your hot chocolate's with Fire Whisky,' Charlie concluded.
There was silence for a moment before Molly began chastising them.
'Boys! Why on earth would you think that's a good idea? We have guests over!'
Everyone else in the room was already laughing, though it was hard to tell if it was due to the alcohol in their drinks or because they actually thought it was funny.
'Don't worry, Molly,' Remus finally spoke up. 'I'm sure we'll all be fine getting home. I doubt Fred and Charlie put too much Fire Whisky in our drinks.' He looked at the two, silently asking them to agree even if he was wrong. It was much less peaceful with Molly yelling at two of her children.
'Yeah, of course, Remus,' Charlie hurried to agree with him.
'We didn't put much in at all,' Fred told her.
She finally calmed down and resumed her conversation with the others.
Fred surreptitiously sent a wink in George's direction.
'Might not want to drink the rest of that,' George muttered to Hermione. While the adults had gone straight back into their conversation, the others were still a little wary of their spiked drinks. After noticing Hermione carefully place her drink back on the side table, the others carefully put theirs down too, not really fancying the after effects of the Fire Whisky.
A few hours later, Molly was in a much better mood about the spiked hot chocolates, and was quite happy to offer another round to everyone. The adults all accepted. The kids realised they would likely have to deal with some… merry adults that night.
