Prompt: Shopping
Fandom: Supernatural
Pairing: Dean Winchester x OFC
As they made their way through the sidewalks of downtown Topeka, Kansas, Dean couldn't help to think how he wished he could be anywhere but there. The only silver lining was Aliyah, his girlfriend, the reason why he was venturing downtown to buy Christmas presents for his brother and Cas.
Dean had told Aliyah that he would just buy everything online, that way he didn't lose time in lines and busy stores. But Aliyah had playfully scolded him for not fully embracing the spirit of the holidays and that, even though it could be stressful, going Christmas shopping in person was part of that.
He, of course, didn't have the heart to deny it, so there he was, walking in a sea of people, all busy buying their presents, and going into stores overflowing with more people. Let's face it, he enjoyed Christmas, but he hated in-person shopping.
Going into another store, Dean watched as Aliyah made a beeline to what she wanted to buy for Sam, while scanning the shelves to see if she could find what she wanted for Cas as well. He stood at the entry of the aisle, watching her eyes light up as she found what she wanted for them both, smiling back at him with a smile of triumph on her face that reached her eyes.
Smiling back at her, he thought back to the first time he introduced Aliyah to Sam and Cas. Cas had been a tad apprehensive at first, but after some time he came around. Sam, on the other hand, was all for his brother to have a girlfriend, especially one that could talk lore books with him.
Aliyah walked back to his side, the gifts for both Cas and Sam in hand as they made their way to the register. Waiting in line to pay for the gifts, Dean thought that maybe this wasn't so bad, maybe shopping for presents in person was something really meant for getting into the Christmas spirit.
Looking back at Aliyah, he pulled her close and kissed her, cutting her off mid-sentence. She smiled and asked him what that was for, to which he simply replied that he was thankful to have such an attentive girlfriend and that he loved her. Aliyah told him she loved him too and that she couldn't wait for the guys to see their gifts.
After paying for the gifts, Dean and Aliyah made their way out of the store only to find that it had started snowing. Aliyah smiled, thinking that it was perfect. She felt Dean grab her hand as they walked to his car, snowflakes falling around and on them.
Aliyah felt lucky. She had an amazing boyfriend, she adored his brother and best friend, and they were going to spend their first Christmas together, her favorite holiday. Things weren't always easy, between his crazy work and Cas's initial resistance to seeing his best friend with someone that had been possessed by a demon (even if she was a hunter herself), but now things were good, and she couldn't wait to see what the future brought to them.
As they got into his car and drove away from the busy streets of downtown Topeka, Dean realized that Aliyah was right. Going Christmas shopping was a really good way to get you in the mood for Christmas.
