Chapter 4: Brittany and the Prince of Her Dreams

That same evening at the house of Miss Beatrice Miller, the Chipettes: Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor, had gotten ready for bed in much the same way. After a warm bath and dressing in their pajamas and brushing their teeth, the three sisters were being read to by their adoptive mother. After their story, the Chipettes said their prayers and then laid down on their pillows.

Miss Miller tucked Brittany into bed and kissed her on the cheek. Then she put Jeanette's glasses on her nightstand and fetched one of her dolls to cuddle while she slept. After giving Jeanette a goodnight kiss, Miss Miller came to Eleanor, who was snuggled up with her Snow Bear teddy. Miss Miller pulled Eleanor's covers up to her chin and kissed her cheek as well.

"Comfy, my little angels?" said Miss Miller.

"As comfy as can be, Miss Miller," replied Jeanette.

"I'm counting on really sweet dreams tonight," added Brittany with a little yawn.

"And I'll be warm all night with Snow Bear in my arms," put in Eleanor.

Miss Miller beamed at the Chipettes and prepared to depart from their bedroom. She turned off the light and whispered, "Sleep well, darlings."

The door was closed and soon Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor were fast asleep. Their faces became alight with smiles as they slept and inside their minds, the world became a wonderland entirely their own.

Brittany found herself wandering alone through a grassy meadow until she came to a high, wide hill overlooking a vast land of endless clouds. As she put her left foot forward to continue her walk, she saw the scene change before her eyes until it was no longer a field under an open sky but a glamorous hall inside an enormous castle with the walls painted golden and crystal chandeliers on the ceiling complete with a red carpet under her feet, which led down a flight of stairs.

Seconds later, Brittany discovered that her pink shirt and skirt and blue hose had become a glittering, rose-pink gown with a bodice decked with rubies and a crown of gold on her head, and her red ponytail had become a very ornate hairdo of braids. At the foot of the steps was a crowd of people and she could have sworn she saw Jeanette and Eleanor with Miss Miller among them.

Brittany began walking down the steps with as much poise and dignity as she could muster. Trumpets sounded as the crowd of onlookers bowed and said nearly in unison, "All hail Princess Brittany!"

As Brittany took her walk down the aisle, she looked ahead to see Alvin, dressed in a prince's raiment colored red as usual. However, she noticed that he was wearing a crown instead of his baseball cap, but he still looked as handsome as always. As Brittany approached him, Alvin gave her a dignified bow, to which she returned a curtsy. And then he took her hand in his own, placed his other hand on her waist, and they began dancing together under the light of the chandeliers.

It was a magical moment for Brittany as she looked into Alvin's bright blue eyes. She had been wishing for a ballroom dance like this since they had danced together at the school Valentine's Day dance and had been named King and Queen of the ballroom only two years ago. Now here she was, dancing in her dreams with the boy who warmed her heart.

"Does this dance please you, my fair princess?" asked Alvin as they waltzed and mingled together.

Brittany nodded warmly and said, "I wouldn't dream to dance with another, my handsome prince."

"You know, Brittany, I don't think I've had the courage to tell you before now."

"Yes, Alvin?"

"I'm in love with you."

Brittany's eyes filled with glowing hearts as she continued to dance with Alvin and after a few more minutes of spinning together, they stopped and she looked him in the eyes. She said, "I'm in love with you too, Alvin."

And there in front of the entourage, she gave him a big hug and a kiss. Then as the two resumed dancing, Brittany laid her head on Alvin's chest and let him hold her close as their waltz slowed. Before she knew what was happening, she and Alvin were standing on the balcony of the topmost tower of the great castle.

Brittany smiled and wiped a tear of happiness from her cheek as she and Alvin embraced each other under a radiant sunset. This was a wonderful dream, one that she wished could last forever.

A/N: I hope Brittany's dream was as heartwarming as the Chipmunks'. Also, I wish to apologize if my chapters are shorter than usual, but that's just because this fanfiction is meant to be more of a short story than a novelization of a franchise. Hope you enjoy this story, and keep a lookout for what Jeanette and Eleanor are dreaming about.
