Medical Examiners Conference

Victoria spun around with her arms stretched wide as she looked out at the grounds surrounding the Grand Floridian Hotel. "Look at this place. It's magical!"

Jess and Jimmy were so happy at her reaction. "It sure is. Let's go check in."

They walked into the lobby with Victoria in the middle and Jimmy and Jess on either side holding her hands. The reception desk had a spot open that they went to. "Hello," said the guest services employee, "how can I help you?"

"We're here for the convention and a vacation. The reservation is under Palmer."

"Very good, sir." He looked up their name and said "Here you are. A nice suite on the seventh floor."

Jimmy signed the registration form and gave him a credit card. He handed Jess one of the key cards and headed to their room with a bell hop dressed in a penguin uniform bringing their luggage.

Once situated inside their room, Jess opened the curtains to enjoy the view. She spotted a glass house and glass carriage. "Look Jimmy, do you want to take a ride in a glass carriage?"

Jimmy came over to the window and looked out. "That looks real fun just as long as we don't turn into a pumpkin afterwards."

Jess looked over at Jimmy and punched him in the arm playfully. "Not going to happen."

Victoria looked out too. "That does look like fun."

"We'll look into how to get a ride tomorrow," Jimmy said.

"Let's unpack and go down to the pool and get something to eat," Jess said.

"Great idea, mom," said Victoria.

The suite had two bedrooms, a living area and a small kitchen with a refrigerator and two bathrooms.

Jimmy took his and Jess' luggage into their room and Jess took Victoria's suitcase into hers.

They hung up her clothes and filled the drawers of the dresser. Victoria hugged Jess and said "thanks."

"Put your swimsuit on and meet us in the living room in a few minutes," and Jess headed into her room.

Jess entered their room and closed the door. Jimmy was busy unpacking both their suitcases and had just finished. She noticed her bikini on the bed next to Jimmy's board shorts. She walked up to him and gave Jimmy a hug and kiss. "Thank you, sweetheart."

"You're welcome."

Jimmy flopped onto the bed on his back and Jess followed suit. "This feels nice and comfortable," they both agreed. Jess rolled on top of Jimmy and gave him a big kiss. Jimmy smiled and returned the kiss while holding her close. "I think we will find this bed very satisfactory."

They got off the bed and Jimmy went into the bathroom to use the facilities. When he came back into the room while removing his shirt he found Jessica wearing her bikini bottoms and starting to put on her top. "Let me help you with that," Jimmy offered. Jess stopped and lowered her hands so he could get a good look at her. "I'm glad my Jimmy is always eager to help."

Jimmy chuckled and took the top from her. "Yes, especially when I get to enjoy the view."

Jess laughed. "I'll make sure you get to enjoy the view as much as you want. It is only for you."

Jimmy pulled her to him and held her close, their bare chests pressed together. He captured her lips with his. "I love you my Jessica, and I am only for you, too."

Jess kissed him back and said "Don't forget our daughter is probably waiting for us outside this door."

Jimmy smiled. "We'll just have to pick this up later."

Jess grinned and agreed. "We sure will."

Jimmy and Jess were relaxing on chaise lounges watching Victoria in the pool. Victoria was a strong swimmer so they weren't worried about her there and she had made a few friends in the pool.

A waitress came to where they were located and asked "Can I get you anything to eat or drink?"

Jess looked over at Jimmy and said "Yes, please. I would like a cheeseburger and mineral water. What about you, sweetheart?"

Jimmy said "I would like a Rueben on Rye and some French fries. A cheeseburger for our daughter too if we can get her out of the pool."

The waitress chuckled. "Very good. I'll bring those items shortly. Anything to drink for you?"

"Mineral water sounds good for me too and a glass of lemonade for Victoria."

Jimmy peeled his T-shirt off and grabbed the sunscreen. He looked over at Jess and asked "Will you help with my back, sweetheart?"

"Of course. Hand me the bottle sweetie."

Jess took care of Jimmy's back and front giving a little massage along with it. "Thank you sweetie. Do you need some?"

"Of course," said Jess as she rolled onto her stomach. "Be sure to do a real good job. You don't want me to get burned do you?"

Jimmy laughed. "Of course not," as he began applying the lotion to the back of her legs and worked his way north.

A little while later, their food was delivered and Jimmy signed the slip to charge the room. Jimmy got up to walk over to the pool to tell Victoria it was time to eat. Jess watched Jimmy until her attention was caught by someone she never expected to see in Orlando. Walking into the pool area was none other than Ernie Malik from NCIS Hawaii and Carla Chase, their medical examiner.

Ernie looked over at Jess and smiled as he admired her figure in her bikini. It made Jess want to cover herself up with a towel. Thankfully Jimmy returned with Victoria who sat with Jess on her chaise lounge. Jess wrapped her up in a towel since she was wet and took the opportunity to cover up too.

Jimmy frowned for a moment as he was looking forward to enjoying seeing his fiancée in her bikini. Then he noticed Ernie Malik. The light bulb went on in his head.

"Ernie, what a surprise. What brings you to Orlando?" Jimmy asked.

"Hello, Dr. Palmer. I assume you are here for the Conference. What about you Jess? I'm surprised to see you here."

Jess hugged Victoria to her as she looked quizzically at her mother. Jess made sure her engagement ring was easy to be seen. "Hi Ernie. I'm here with Jimmy and Victoria for a little R & R while Jimmy is at the Conference. We also have some great news to share."

Ernie spotted the sparkle coming from her ring finger and frowned.

Jess said happily… "Jimmy and I are engaged."

Ernie looked over at Jimmy and then back at Jess. Forcing a smile said "Congratulations you two." He stuck out his hand to shake Jimmy's hand which Jimmy took.

Carla, standing by chimed in. "Congratulations. When's the big day?"

"Soon. We want to be sure Jess' father can come from the far east." Jimmy replied.

Ernie noticed that they were about to eat lunch. With the news he really wanted to get out of there. He looked over at Carla. "Let's give them a chance to eat." Carla nodded.

"See you at the conference Dr. Palmer," Ernie said, and then they were gone.

Victoria watched them leave and asked "Who were those people?"

Jess answered. "Our counterparts in NCIS Hawaii. I'm really surprised Ernie was here."

Victoria spoke up. "I didn't like the way he looked at you, mom. Dad can look at you that way but no one else."

Jimmy looked on with clarity. "No wonder you covered up so fast. That was very rude of him."

Jess responded. "I'm glad you came back when you did, Victoria. It saved me from further embarrassment."

Jimmy passed out the food and they all dug in. Now that the coast was clear, Jess unwrapped herself from the towel so Jimmy could enjoy the view. Jimmy looked over at Jess and smiled at her whispering an "I love you." Jess grinned back and whispered "For your eyes only, darling."

After eating, they played the game of Uno. Victoria won every time. "Let's go back in the pool." Victoria said and stood up. Jimmy got on his feet and helped Jess stand up. They jumped in the pool enjoying the refreshing water. Victoria challenged Jess to a race to the other side of the pool. It was close but Jess won by a touch. Jimmy went under the water and came up with Jess on his shoulders. After a few minutes Victoria said "That looks like fun. Do that do me Dad." Then she started splashing Jimmy which caused him to let go of Jess' legs. Jess fell backward into the pool with a big splash. Jess came up out of the water spluttering and started splashing Victoria. Jimmy joined in and a very wet family laughed heartily.

Ernie and Carla were in the hotel's café for dinner. Carla noticed Ernie's foul mood while he was munching on one of his onion rings. "What's eating you?

Ernie stared back at her and shook his head. "It's nothing."

"It's not 'nothing' Ernie. It's about Jessica isn't it?"

Ernie slowly nodded. "How could she choose Dr. Palmer?"

"Instead of you? You have a high opinion of yourself."

"Why not me? I'm smart and handsome and fun."

"I hate to break it to you but that doesn't mean you're God's gift to all women. Be happy for her and Dr. Palmer."

Ernie shook his head. "That doesn't mean I have to like it."

"You're not going to try and cause some problems between them are you?"

Ernie sat there stone faced deep in thought. "Of course not," Ernie replied while thinking about how to solve his Jessica and Jimmy problem.
