Chapter 7: The Parents Check In
At the Chipmunks' house, Dave was astonished to find that he hadn't heard a peep from the boys since he got them all comfortable for the night. After getting himself a cool glass of milk and watching a few shows on TV, he was starting to get a little curious with how Alvin and his younger brothers were doing. Either they were staying up late watching TV in their room behind soundproof doors or they had decided to surprise him by sleeping under their beds.
Rolling his eyes with amusement, Dave set down his glass and crept up the stairs as slowly as he could so as not to wake his little ones. When he reached their bedroom, he slowly opened the door and saw the most beautiful sight. Alvin, Simon, and Theodore were snuggled up in their beds and smiling as they slept.
Dave approached slowly and got a surprise as he heard the boys talking in their sleep. He saw Alvin turn over in his sleep and heard him mumble "Best vacation ever." Simon was on his back and dreaming deeply, though he could be heard saying "Another scientific discovery to share." As for Theodore, he was snuggling his teddy bear close and mumbling "Another bowl of ice cream? I couldn't."
…
At the Chipettes' house, it was the same story. Miss Miller had been relaxing in the family room and hadn't heard any signs of distress from the Chipettes' bedroom, and there had been no indication of Brittany, Jeanette, or Eleanor suffering from a nightmare.
Curious about how well the girls were sleeping, Miss Miller headed upstairs and silently entered the bedroom, where she found the Chipettes sleeping like the little angels they were. Miss Miller came to Brittany's bedside first and heard her say, "Thank you for everything, Alvin." Jeanette was on her side with her doll pressed to her face, and she was mumbling, "This library is so fabulous." Eleanor was holding her teddy bear to her chest as she mumbled, "I love you, Miss Miller."
…
When Dave and Miss Miller heard these things, they smiled down at their little ones and then retired to their own bedrooms for the night. But when the two had gotten comfortable in their beds, they remained awake for quite a while. All they could think about was how glad they were to have a family all their own, with Dave caring for the Chipmunks and Miss Miller taking care of the Chipettes. The day had been fun and the night was pleasant, and there were sure to be more great and glad days to come, for tomorrow is never far away.
A/N: I hope this ending was short and sweet, everyone. Now I want to say that I still plan to finish Scooby-Doo and the Legend of Atlantis and I have started Chapter 8, but it may be a while before it will be completed.
Nevertheless, I'm glad to be writing fanfiction and hope to complete my first novel manuscript's revisions soon. In the meantime, enjoy my fanfictions, and have a merry Christmas wherever you are in the world.
