The fourth Melee stage in a row to appear on this countdown, goes to Jungle Japes. Just like the three stages before it, I found Jungle Japes to be a very annoying stage and not very fun at all to enjoy fighting on.

The biggest problem I had with Jungle Japes is, the river current in this stage. If you opponent knocked you in the river current, you would have a hard time recovering from it and it would result of a KO. The flowing river would pull on the left side of the stage and you were given hardly anytime to recover and get back on one of the platforms in the stage. You probably only had say maybe 3 seconds to recover and if you didn't you be KO' ed and bigger characters like Bowser and Donkey Kong have a harder time to recover while in the river current and if you had a character like Yoshi or Jigglypuff with a terrible recovery move, you would be screwed. This stage favors characters that have long recovery/special range attacks and is extremely unbalanced and unfair to what character you picked to fight on with your friends in this stage.

The Klaptraps from Donkey Kong Country would also make an attack cameo on this stage and if you came in contact with you, you were forced into the river current by it causing it to KO you and lose a life.

The stage itself was also fairly small making the gameplay action bland and cramped up. There was only one medium sized top and bottom based platform with only two other small platforms to fight on this stage.

The only positive thing, I can say for this stage is that, the stage does have decent music but asside from that mild pro I gave, I really cannot say anything good about Jungle Japes. Not a good stage and not very fun at all.
