Another Smash Bros project I made, where I ranked all 31 stages from Super Smash Bros Brawl. The unlockable past N64 and Melee stages will not be a part of this publication. I initially did this project, back in December 2008, during the mundane two week break from school. I don't know why I wrote all this down but, alas I did anyway. Enjoy reading it.

11. 22 - Spear Pillar

To be honest, back when I first unlocked Spear Pillar and played it a few times, It WAS one at one time, my least favorite stage in Brawl but, thanks to my brother getting me and trying me to improve in the stage, Spear Pillar is starting to grow on me.

As always, I start off with the problems. The biggest problem I have with Spear Pillar is the inverted controls on one section part in the stage.

During one of the sections in Spear Pillar, (I don't remember, when it happens) but when this happens, instead of if you were moving the control stick left, you move right and if you were moving right, you would move left. Even some of the main buttons, get inverted when this happens in the stage. Yes, the inverted control change goes back to normal and doesn't last very long on Spear Pillar but, this can be a frustrating way to play on the stage, especially for newcomers to the series. Experts will not mind this problem but, for the newcomers and younger Brawl stages will get frustrated and overall, it feels very cheap.

Another problem I had with for the stage is, that most of the music in the stage, is "meh". The only great song, I heard on this stage is, the remaked track version of the Diagla/Palkia fight in D/P. Every other song such as Route 209 tracks are not very good for the stage.

Gameplay wise aside from the inverted controls on the stage, work good most of the time. On paper it may seem hard to avoid the white laser that appears on this stage but, in reality it isn't. Before the laser appears, it gives you a warning that a laser is going to pop up on the stage and that keeps the gameplay action fairly balanced.

Even do some of the action may be hard to dodge, it works out for the better. Some of the action such as Diagla's Roar of Time on the stage, is balanced as while the stage runs slow, all players on the stage move the same. This again makes the stage more fun and the word again, BALANCED.

Overall, I rank Spear Pillar to be a average and/or decent stage in Brawl. Spear Pillar is mostly a love/hate stage in Brawl as if you a veteran to series, you will probably like Spear Pillar and if you are a newcomer to the series, you probably will not like this stage due, to SOME unbalanced gameplay action that happens on this stage. For me, I think Spear Pillar is decent.
