It worked.
A year after she was supposed to, Shuri finally recreated the heart-shaped herb. This herb was her only chance at beating Namor. She couldn't save her brother, but she'll be able to avenge her mother.
Shuri stood in the ancestral plane. She wondered who was meeting her. She had a list of people she could meet. It could be her mother, father, brother, and, if she was unlucky, her uncle or cousin.
Shuri stood in the throne room. In the realm of the living, the room got flooded in the attack, but here it was intact. Shuri looked around, waiting for something or someone. "I can't wait to see the adjustments you make to your ceremonial outfit," a familiar and comforting voice said.
Shuri turned around, spotting her brother. She ran over and hugged her older brother. T'Challa wrapped his arms around his younger sister. "I knew you could do it," he said. "I'm so proud of you."
"Why?" Shuri asked. "The herb was supposed to be for you. You weren't supposed to die. I couldn't save you or mom."
"There are some battles you can't win," T'Challa responded. "I was fighting one with that disease. And mom chose to sacrifice her life for the scientist. She wouldn't have done it if she didn't think you were ready."
"How do I battle Namor?" Shuri asked. "We've never faced something like him."
"It will be a hard battle," T'Challa confessed. "You have everything you need. Don't let your thirst for revenge take over you. Don't repeat the mistakes of our ancestors."
"I'm sorry for not coming to you while you were sick more," Shuri said. While T'Challa was sick, Shuri was in the lab all the time, trying to save him.
"It's okay," T'Challa responded. "You're going to wake up soon. I want you to go to Nakia's school. There's someone there I want you to hug for me. You'll know."
