The only real Donkey Kong stage I ever liked in the Super Smash Bros series was, the original Kongo Jungle stage back in the first Super Smash Bros game on the Nintendo 64. While it's a better stage then Jungle Japes, that really isn't saying much.
The biggest problem I had with Kongo Jungle is that much like other stages that appeared on this countdown already is that, Kongo Jungle has no stage interactivity whatsoever and that the stage was fairly small to fight on. This makes up for a stage with the expection of the catchy DK rap song that plays on this stage, a very forgettable, bland and fairly boring stage.
The main fighting takes place on one medium sized platform with four small platforms forming the top of it. This makes up for chaotic and sometimes boxed up action happening in combat on the stage. The top platforms in Kongo Jungle like I stated earlier, are fairly small. Big characters like Bowser, Donkey Kong and others would take up room for one of the these small platforms alone and Medium sized characters like Mario, Luigi, Captain Falcon and among others, could take up room for half of the size of the platforms at the top of the stage.
Another problem I had with Kongo Jungle was that, the barrel that moves from side to side and the small rock in the bottom right corner of the stage, were annoying and near worthless for use for recovery on the stage. If you enter the side to side barrel in the stage and try to use it for recovery purposes, you would be screwed because the barrel would shift in different directions very fast likely resulting you down the opposite direction you wanted to be in and it would result of a KO. The rock that also appears in this stage and another use for recovery, would sometimes block your action if you were trying to grab and recover on it and it would result of a KO.
My overall opinion on Kongo Jungle is much like Yoshi's Story. It's a stage with decent music but, suffers major problems due to the stage being small to fight on and having next to zero stage interactivity whatsoever in the stage. A very forgettable stage and not much fun at all.
