Chapter One
From One Galaxy to Another
Somewhere, beyond the vastness of space. Lies a sun, orbited by five planets. The Gemini System. A place inhabited by humans and other races. Casts, Newmens, Beasts, and Deumens. For five hundred years, there was a war among the five races. A seemingly never-ending conflict that would've lasted forever, that is until the Dolls came and spread chaos throughout the system. It took the collective power of all five races to set aside their differences, and join together to fight back against this new threat for the sake of their system. Eventually, after one hundred years of fighting and sacrificing, an era of peace was obtained as the five races lived together in perfect harmony. But the scars from the war left the system's resources dwindling as they began to explore the far reaches of space in search of other planets to aid them in their need to recover from their fight against the dolls.

Gleipnir, an organization within the Gemini System that studies the field of science and technology. Founded in the year XXX, it was created to help in the war by creating technological tools to help convert photon energy into weapons to combat the alien menace. Now that the doll's threat has been eradicated, the organization focused its attention on exploring other galaxies and advancing in the fields of science, medical science, and technology.
"Sol to command, do you copy?" said the voice on the communications console "Sol… Annabelle, stop tinkering with your experiments and answer me!"
"Gah! Sorry, sorry!" Annabelle said as she pressed the communication button in her ship.
"You need to stop working on your inventions while you're on the clock, you know?" the voice over the intercom replied.
"I know, but when you're in a section of space with little to no life within that section, it tends to get a bit boring at times. A-Anyway, what was it that you were calling to inform me of?"
"I wanted to give you a fair bit of warning," her commanding officer informed her. "There's a cosmic anomaly by your sector. We're unsure how it happened or what it's doing, but we're asking for all ships to stay out of the region until it's deemed safe to pass through."
"You don't think the dolls are back…do you?" Annabelle asked with a bit of excitement in her voice. "I'm a bit interested in seeing what makes up their cellular structure again~."
"We don't know. All we do know is that we need you to head back to the colony before it gets worse."
"I'm hoping it's the dolls and not some kind of new threat. With the dolls, we have the means to kill them without problems. New threats on the other hand might be hard. Especially seeing how we're still recovering from the side effects of the war."
"We'll send out probes to see what's going on. Anyways, get yourself to a place to dock. The Beast planet is the closest one here. I'll let the folks there know you are on your way."
"Understood, I'll be there as soon as possible." The deumen said before punching in the coordinates to the Beast planet to the ship's autopilot.
"Good. Stay safe, Annabelle." The commander told her before ending the call, allowing the pilot to input the coordinates of the space carrier into her ship's Navigation unit.
"I suppose heading to the beast planet isn't so bad…Though fighting against the dolls was interesting to say the least…especially when I was able to dissect them~."
"Please keep your excitement under control," A new voice on the ship, as the deumen looked over to her right to see a tiny floating girl with black & white long hair, red eyes, and wearing a blue & white colored Kimono with a gold hairpin in her hair next to her. "The last time you ignored protocol, you had your ship's license taken away."
"Hey, I had a good reason for that one."
"Just because you wanted to take home a new species of Octopus, doesn't mean you can ignore protocol...especially when you happen to genetically alter it to breathe on land and can coat itself in water to prevent dehydration."
"Well it gets lonely up in space when you're down for maintenance…granted he can't talk, but he can communicate via writing thanks to altering his brain a bit."
"Hard to believe Gleipnir would give you access to their most exclusive resources…then again you were the first to create a weapon to take down the dolls." The mag said before sighing. "Look, let's just do what the commander says. He's already angry and you don't want it to get worse."
"Fine, we'll follow his orders for once and head on over there," Annabelle groaned as she turned the ship around and began to make her way over to her destination. "Tamahime, how long have we been with Gleipnir?"
"Simple or statistical terms?"
"Does it matter how you say it?"
"Fair enough. About ten years, going on for eleven." The mechanical lifeform replied. "Why?"
"Hard to believe a lot had changed during that time huh?"
"From what you told me, just a girl living a normal life in the countryside of the planet you lived on before the dolls came. Now here you are, thirty-five years old, an assistant researcher for science and technology, and nominated by a lot for being the first to find the means to kill the dolls."
"Yeah…not gonna lie. But I do miss having a normal life. Spending my days in the golden wheat fields, helping the family out with the crops or if they need me to heal them, exploring the forest for new species of insects or animals…I do miss those mundane days."
"You know, you could always file for early retirement? No one would blame you for doing that…that and I'm pretty sure the boys back on Gleipnir would be glad to know that you won't be in the lab doing late-night experiments."
"Hey, I cleaned up and restocked the supplies after I was finished," Annabelle said as the mag deadpans at her.
"That's not the issue, the issue was that you scared the living daylights out of them from seeing you covered in blood, laughing like a mad woman, or fighting a monster that you brought in to catalog it into the database."
"Well, it's not like I didn't want to let anyone else claim my efforts. You know how people are nowadays?"
"Perhaps, but you do scare people even when you don't mean to do it."
"Whatever, let's just head home before something else happens." The deumen said as she was about to lean back in her seat, only for the alarms on the ship to go off. "And I just jinxed myself with that comment."
"Annebelle, we have a problem."
"Please tell me we're not being attacked by a bunch of space pirates or something."
"Okay, I won't…but hypothetically, what if we were being attacked by space pirates?" Tamahime asked.
"...Then I would be annoyed that we're being attacked."
"Well…I suppose you're not going to like what's going to happen within the next couple of minutes." Tamahime spoke before bringing up a digital screen as two space crafts were currently surrounding them as they fired upon Annabelle's ship. "We're being attacked by Space Pirates."
"Seriously? What are space pirates doing out in the middle of nowhere!?"
"I can only guess that they're here because they were heading towards the nearest planet, know about how expensive our ship is, or just enjoy causing trouble."
"Swell, as if this wasn't a pain in my butt. Are they still down for maintenance?" Annabelle asked as she pushed on the gas peddled to her ship.
"Just finished with maintenance. Do you want me to open a communication line with them to give them a warning as to who they're messing with?"
"That would be nice, yes." The deumen said as a digital screen appeared in front of her. Once the communication line was established, the face of a heavy build male beastmen with red hair, dark skin, blue eyes, and wearing worn down & patched clothing glared at her. "Attention captains or individuals of their respective ships. You are attacking a ship that belongs to the Gleipnir colony. As agreed upon by the union of the five stars, it was forbidden to not attack any ship being part of a colony. This is your first and final warning. Failure to stop attacking me will result in-"
"Shut it. Do you think we care about that? Just hand over the ship and we won't leave you for dead once we disable it."
"...Is that the only thing you have to say? Not even going to give me a reason why I should let you take my ship?" She asked as the pirate simply stared at her with a stoic expression. "There's a planet not far off from here, you should have enough fuel to-"
"Give us your ship or else we'll leave your dead lifeless body floating in space."
"...Tamahime, end transmission." Annabelle ordered as the mechanical lifeform ended the call. "Options, Tamahime?"
"Well trying to escape would be a problem seeing how they can cut us off. I would suggest you let me hit them with an EMP pulse blast so that we may escape."
"Wouldn't that leave them stranded in space?" Annabelle asked before examining their ships from the window of the cockpit. "I mean, looking at the way their ships are looking. It looks like they won't last a month floating around in space."
"Much as I dislike having to do this to them, they made their choice. No point in reasoning with them if that's their response."
"Regrettable, but understandable. Ready the EMP pulse blast." She orders before pulling the ship out of autopilot and beginning to move the ship while the space pirates follow after her.
"Main blasters are online...Warning, unknown energy flux. Source…possibly the cosmic anomaly that the commander mentioned." Tamahime said before hearing something explode. "Left pulse gun, disabled."
"Seriously? I just got that fixed a month ago." The deumen said before taking evasive maneuvers to avoid the photon shots from the pirate ships. "Focus on charging the EMP for the time being. We'll repair the damaged gun when we're safe.."
"Uhh…It might go without saying that when I mean disabled…" Tamahime said, showing an image of the weapon only half intact. "I mean blown to bits…sorry."
"I know the commander is going to chew me out for letting that get destroyed..again. Do we have anything to distract them?"
"We do have a crate of bombs that scrambles a ship's visual and audio frequency. We were planning on selling them due to how incompatible they were with the ship." She said as Annabelle turned the ship to dodge another barrage of photon energy coming from behind them. "Should I set it to charge?"
"That would be helpful, yes."
"Opening hanger doors." The mechanical lifeform said as the hangar doors open up and release a cluster of heavy-looking orbs into the path of the space pirates. The moment they were within range of the bombs, they soon activate before exploding into a powdery mist as they flew through it. A grin appeared on the deumen's face upon seeing them slowing down and bumping into random space rocks and themselves. "EMP Pulse is ready. Would you like for me to use it?"
"...Do it." She said as a turret appeared from a doorway on top of the ship. Electronic energy started to form within the barrel of the turret before firing off a small orb at the bewildered pirates. The moment it was within range of them, the orb exploded into a wave of electric energy onto the pirate ships as it causing their engines to go offline and remain motionless within space.
"Targets neutralize," Tamahime replied. "However…I don't think we can exactly rest just yet."
"What do you mean?"
"There's a gravity influx from that anomaly that's a few kilometers out. It's a blackhole…and it's pulling us in."
"Are we able to pull ourselves out of the gravitational pull of the anomaly?" Annabelle said as she tried to move the ship out of the way of the gravitational pull.
"If we were in a battleship, then we could. But seeing how we're in a carrier ship, that's impossible…at least not by normal means."
"By normal you mean?" She asked as her mag pulled up a digital screen of their ship and the black hole.
"Activating hyperspace or lightspeed wouldn't help seeing how it would pretty much kill us due to the pull from the blackhole sucking everything in itself, but using the dimensional space drive could help."
"Not like I'm against the idea, but wouldn't that take us out of this universe?"
"You are correct, but what other choice do we have…unless you want to spend your aching moment being inside of a black hole until you die?"
"...Normally I would judge your decision. But we don't have much of a choice in this matter." She said before pressing a few buttons on the control pads beside her. "Engaging warp drive."
"Engaging, warp engines are active and ready," Tamahime said as a blue aura developed around the ship. "Ready when you are."
Annabelle nodded upon hearing this before hitting three medium size buttons. The moment she did that, she strapped herself into the seat before hitting the gas pedal and braced herself as an orb made out of photon energy appeared around the ship as it soon vanished from the Gemini System.
