Behind the Scenes – Chapter 4
Enjoy and don't forget to drop a review and let me know what you think! I do NOT own Once Upon a Time, its characters, the script used in this story, and this is all for fun!
"Everybody, places…." The director called out to the large cast on set that day. It had been time to film Robin Hood's funeral scene and while it may have been fictional, the main cast had to put themselves in a place of true mourning. This will have been their fourth time recording this scene over a two day span, getting the technical things in order, fixing flubbed lines, etc.
A hand snaked through Jen's arm and made her jump slightly as she wasn't fully expecting it. "Hey, kid!" she let out a laugh, her opposite hand shooting up to her chest, "I'm supposed to be sad, not scared!"
"Sorry!" Jared smiled, letting out a breathy laugh that almost matched hers.
Jen squeezed his arm as if she were giving him a full hug, "Ready for this?"
"I guess," Jared looked around, "being sad doesn't come as easy to me…" His eyes glanced around the crowd.
"Yet….doesn't come as easy to you, yet," Jen tried reassuring him. "Think of something that got you upset…lose a video game…girl break your heart…anything?"
"Ok, yeah, I got something," Jared shook his head at an awful memory, trying to suppress it from the full surface of his memories.
"Everyone quiet…and…action!" the director called.
The cast worked through the main part of the scene and reached the end where people slowly began walking away in sorrow. Jen and Jared remained back as Lana and Bex looked to one another and began their slow-paced walk off the scene.
The cameras were now on Jen and Jared as they slowly moved forward toward the casket. They both stared down, letting the sadness of their true-life memories wash over them, really playing in to the sadness of the scene at hand. The cold and rainy weather of Vancouver became a great bonus to a dreary scene, but it was also taking its toll on the actors, adding into their sorrowful faces. Josh and Ginny moved forward behind them, Ginny stepping into Jared's place and Jared now walking in step with Josh. They walked off and left the women behind to continue filming.
Jen looked over to Ginny and sniffled, pulling herself out of a darker memory, and wrapped her arm around Ginny's waist.
"I hope we never again have a day like today," came Ginny's sulked voice.
"Me, too, mom," Jen kept her voice low, a frown remaining on her face. Her eyes were brimming with tears.
"I know what you're thinking, and this is not your fault."
Jen avoided eye contact with Ginny, knowing if she looked at her directly that one of two things would happen, they would either burst out laughing knowing how ridiculously hilarious it was to have to dig and make themselves cry for these scenes, though it came more easily for Ginny than Jen, or Jen would really break down because of how comforting Ginny had always been to and for her and these real memories and feelings would all come tumbling out. She blinked slowly, gave a quick smile of reassurance as Emma Swan realizing it wasn't necessarily her fault that Robin had passed, and she lost Killian as well, and blinked again, a tear passing the brim of her eyelid and dropping down her cheek.
"I just want to say goodbye, alone, if that's ok." She continued looking down at the, albeit empty, casket in front of her. She leaned into Ginny's half hug and prepared herself for the rain about to come down on her as Ginny was going to walk away with the umbrella. Ginny had such a warm, delightful, graciousness about her and Jen soaked that in in that short hug.
"See you at Granny's," Ginny leaned back and rubbed her back, slowly walking away.
Once Ginny was off the line of the far camera, a second camera moved in closer to Jen, recording her facial expressions of mourning.
"And, cut!" the director yelled.
Jen took a deep breath and turned towards the cast that had moved out of sight. They were all standing quietly, waiting so as not to disturb the rest of the scene's recording.
"Alright, let's keep moving forward. Can we get Jen back in place, please. Camera A, we need you lined up behind her for this next shot…"
Everyone got into their places, Jen moving back to her placed and looked back down at the casket as she had been doing before. She envisioned someone she loved being inside so as to hold tight to the emotions of the scene. She tried to hide the relief that she was about to feel, though, as she knew this next scene was with Colin. She got her head in a place where she felt like she had lost him, recounting some of the feelings she had felt during their short break and not being able to see him.
"Jen, count to five and really throw yourself back, really feel into that moment of something being broken," the director spoke to her from a distance. "Camera B, be ready for your pan into Jen's face."
And just as the director had asked, Jen did what she was told. She counted to five and jolted her body back, an expression of shock covering her face. She threw her hands out to the side.
Filming cut to Camera A to get the behind shot of Colin's shoulder and all of Jen still standing at the casket, reacting to being jolted. She brushed some hair back from her face that had fallen when she jerked herself.
Jen hadn't seen or heard Colin get into his spot behind her so when she heard him speak his first line, her heart did its usual flutter it always did when he was around.
"Swan," his voice was soft and sincere.
Jen whipped her body around in response, her eyes landed directly on him. They were still glossy from the crying she had to endure for most of the workday. She was exhausted but he was her breath of fresh air. She let the relief wash over her face as if she had truly been mourning him and he suddenly reappeared.
She waited a few seconds and then her voice squeaked out, "Killian?"
Colin took a step forward, ready to embrace her as she ran to him. Jen wrapped her arms around his neck, Colin's hand reaching around to her shoulder, his hook finding the small of her back gently. Their lips met in a passionate kiss as their hands shifted to bring each other closer. Jen moved her hand from his neck to his hair, down to his arm. All unscripted, just felt in the moment. Colin's hand wrapped tighter around her upper back, keeping her close as his lips continued moving passionately, warmly against hers.
Jen moved back in the slightest, letting out a breath of relief, "How, how are you here?" Her voice shook as she grabbed hold of his jacket.
"Zeus, he must have sent me back…" Colin laughed as Jen kissed his cheeks. She was the perfect scene partner, he had discovered over the years, as she knew just what to do in character to make the scene play out realistically, "…as a reward for helping defeat Hades."
"I mean…what?" Jen laughed and pulled back to look at Colin.
"Zeus, you know, the ruler of the Olympians…" Jen kept her hands placed behind Colin's ears, holding him close as he continued to speak, letting some tears of joy flow, "…the most powerful…" and then she pulled him in for another kiss, not letting him finish his line. She couldn't wait any longer to feel his lips on hers once more.
"I don't care, I don't care how you're here, I'm just glad you're here…" she said between kisses, still holding onto him closely. She exhaled loudly, trying to slow her heart, which had unknowingly began racing.
"So are you," Colin felt Jen rest her face on his and leaned in even further to her if that was possible. Everything felt right with Jen in his arms, a calming peace, something he had a hard time putting into words, something that he rarely felt with Helen, something he always felt with Jen, from the very start. She had a power over him, unbeknownst to her.
"I'm so happy you're alright," Colin sighed as they hugged each other, feeling just how tightly Jen was holding him. She needs me right now, he thought to himself. He held her tighter with his one hand placed on her upper back, using the cuff of the hook on her lower back to make her feel secure there as well.
Jen leaned back to deliver her next line, looking into his eyes deeply as if to send a message to him without words, "Not all of us are," her hand played with the ends of his hair and slid down to his jacket, grabbing hold once more as she turned to look back at the casket.
Colin held her close, placing his eyes on the casket as well. Jen moved her hand from his jacket back to the nape of his neck, holding ever so lightly on to his hair. Colin looked down and back to the casket, rubbing Jen's back.
They stood there for a few moments more before the director finally yelled, "Cut!"
Jen turned her head to face Colin once more, "Hi!" her voice whispered. She smiled and pulled him back into a hug.
"Hi, Jen," Colin's voice was just above a whisper and he let out a small laugh, embracing her in the hug.
"Alright," the director cut in, "let's take it back from just before Jen turns around, we want to try another angle with Camera A."
Jen pulled back out of Colin's hug and looked deeply into his eyes again, not saying another word. She felt as though she could get lost in his icy, blue eyes and looked down before losing her focus completely. She let go of him and started to move back to her spot when she felt a tug on her hand. Colin had grabbed her and stopped her. She looked back at him and he raised an eyebrow at her, still holding tight to her hand. Jen dipped her chin and smirked at him. Colin returned the smirk and let go of her hand, letting her get back into her starting position and they replayed through the scene again, with just as much passion as before.
Four hours had passed before the actors were finally released from the set. The cloudy overshadows and on and off rain did not help keep the consistency in the scene which made for a drawn-out day.
Jen never minded when the days seemed to run long when she was paired to do her scenes with Colin. He made the day run more smoothly, kept her entertained between shots, and was the calm in her storm, no matter what. When they were told they could go for the day, Jen looked to Colin, "You want to grab a bite to eat?"
"Absolutely," Colin patted his stomach, "I'm famished."
Jen couldn't contain a laugh and turned to start walking, stepping slowly so that Colin could walk beside her. They walked together back to their trailers and separated only momentarily to change their clothes.
Jen searched through her trailer closet and found a simple black dress that cut off mid-thigh. She looked through the bottom of her closet and found a pair of red heels to go with it. She pulled off her black jackets, black boots, black leggings, and the black blouse and skirt they had her wear for the scene. It felt good to take off Emma Swan and put on Jennifer Morrison, or at least, that's how it felt to her. She was stripped all the way down to her black lacy bralette and a pair of black hipster underwear that bore the same lace as the bralette on each side of her hips. She walked over to the mirror and examined herself from toe to head, scanning over her thinning stomach and visible collarbone. It was hard to find time to eat when she was working these long hours, several months of the year. She had lost an unnecessary amount of weight and it had started showing. She told herself she needed to get back to squeezing in snacks where she could, shook off any negative thoughts, and pulled her dress from the floor where she had dropped it to undress before. She stepped into the dress and pulled it up over her shoulders. The top had a wavy dip down the middle, down the almost the end of her sternum, and had clear mesh holding the fabric on both sides together. Jen remembered she had to go bra-less in this dress and quickly removed her bralette. It was most definitely one of her more revealing dresses, but still very sleek for where they were going to eat. She reached her hand around and started to move the zipper up her back when a knock came at the door.
"Come in!" Jen called, still trying to work the zipper up her back.
"You ready?" Colin called back to her as he walked up inside the trailer. He looked at her and froze, "Oh, uh…sorry, love, I didn't know you weren't dressed yet. I can…" Colin stammered.
"Come help me with this?" she turned from looking at him in the mirror to looking at him directly.
"Yeah, uhm, of course." Colin walked over to her, only a few feet away.
Jen watched him as he moved towards her. He was now wearing a wine-colored button down with some black slacks and black shoes. His shirt was partially unbuttoned at the top, revealing his chest hair and necklace. Wow, she thought to herself, taking him in through the reflection as he closed the distance between them. She swept her hair to one side to avoid it getting caught in the zipper and looked down some to keep it in place, revealing her open back area to Colin. He got closer and grabbed onto the zipper, holding one hand just below it to help ease the zipper up her back.
Jen could smell the cologne Colin had put on and breathed in slowly, satisfied with it. She looked up at Colin in the mirror, watching his eyes watch the zipper and then met her stare. He held his hand in place at the top and bottom of her zipper for a moment before he spoke, "There you are, love." His breath felt close and warm on her neck.
Jen turned around and wrapped her arms around his neck, playing with the bottom ends of his hair once more, "Thank you." She kissed his cheek and lingered near his lips.
Colin looked at her then down to her lips, so delicious and pink, like they were calling out to be kissed. He couldn't help himself and leaned in, meeting her closeness. He opened his mouth and ran his tongue along her bottom lip before feeling her tongue touching his.
With heightened awareness, Colin wrapped his hand into Jen's hair, the other staying on the small of her back, pulling her in as close as he could, their bodies now pressing together. Colin continued to kiss her, taking in the heat of the moment. He felt Jen's hands move to the collar of his shirt, she, too, holding him as close as possible.
Jen's hands then moved down to the top button of Colin's shirt, fumbling with the button before it finally gave way under her fingers. She moved down to the next button, and the one after that, before suddenly, his whole shirt was undone, draped open and revealing the rest of his torso. She then moved her hands back to the top of his shirt, pulling away from her so that the shirt would slide off of his shoulders and down his arms. In one fell swoop, his shirt was now on the floor.
Colin scooped Jen up, placing one hand under her bottom, the other under her arm and playing at the nape of her neck. He carried her back to the bed at the end of her trailer and turned around, sitting down on the edge of the bed, Jen now sitting in a straddle on top of him. He moved a hand to the top of her zipper, and just as easily as he zipped it up, he undid the zipper, pulling it down slowly, leaving time for Jen to stop him if she had wanted to.
She didn't and leaned back, slipping each arm out of the holes, letting the dress top drop to her torso. She moved from Colin's lips to his jawline and slowly down his neck, feeling his warm skin under her lips. Colin let out an audible gasp at how wonderful it felt for Jen to be kissing him this way. His head tipped back, allowing easier access for her. When she moved back up towards his ear, Colin took her head in both hands and looked at her, breathing heavily. He couldn't help but smile and catch his breath in this glorious moment, a moment of pure passion between them. Jen smiled back at him. He pulled her close as if to kiss her again, but began nibbling along her jawline, back to her ear and down her neck.
He lifted her again and spun around, laying her back on the bed. He slowly pulled her dress the rest of the way off. The only thing remaining on her beautiful body was the black underwear. He took her in for all she was and then placing a knee between her legs, leaned over her, cupping one breast in his hand, the other landing next to her head.
Jen felt breathless as she felt Colin's hand take her, his warmth so comforting and pleasant. He fingers caressed her nipple as he watched her. She closed her eyes and arched her lower back up.
My God, she's so sexy, Colin thought to himself, how am I so lucky?
His hand moved from her breast down her stomach, toying with the top of her underwear.
Jen opened her eyes and looked at him looking back at her. She gave a small nod of reassurance as to what was about to take place, feeling evermore thankful that Colin was the kind of man who made sure she was comfortable in every moment.
She lifted her waist so he could slide her panties off with ease and then placing her hand on his shoulder, she pushed him back and sat up. Colin watched her closely as her hands found the button on his waistline. She popped it open and unzipped the zipper. She pulled relatively quickly at the hipline and his pants met the floor. Colin removed his shoes and pants the rest of the way off. Jen's hands then grabbed at the hipline of his boxers and looked up at him, giving him the same courtesy, he had given her. He placed his hands on top of hers and they worked the boxers down together until they too hit the floor.
Colin leaned over and his lips met hers again as he slowly pushed her back with his mouth, his body now on top of hers.
For only a moment, after he had laid Jen fully back on her back again, he stopped and whispered, "Are you sure?"
His answer was met with her lips back on his, Jen's arms wrapping around under his arms to his back, pulling him fully down on top of her.
Their naked bodies felt wonderful against the other, and in a quick movement, Colin shifted and slid inside her.
It was Jen this time who let out an audible gasp of pure wonderment. Colin felt so good inside her, what she would consider the perfect size, nice and erect, responding to her. Her nails dug into his back, and he slide back and forth. Her hips met his a few strokes in, and they rode up and down together, still passionately kissing one another. Jen bit at Colin's bottom lip softly and repeated the same motion right after. He then moved to kissing her jawline again, moving slowly down her neck and sucking lightly on her collarbone.
Jen's hands moved to the back of his head, grabbing fistfuls of hair, and squeezing softly at the pleasure he was creating for her. Their hips began moving faster in time as they both reached their climax together and all movement ceased to exist.
Colin collapsed his body half on Jen and half on the bed, so as not to crush her beneath his weight, or that's what he told himself. He lay there, watching her while she laid there with her eyes clothes, breathing as heavily as he himself was.
Jen laid there with her eyes closed, taking in everything that had just happened, feeling the release of his semen inside of her, feeling him slide out and lay next to and on her, keeping close. She finally opened her eyes and turned her head towards him, meeting his eyes.
She let out a small laugh and simply voiced, "Wow!"
Colin laughed too, "I agree."
