Pairing: Established Ash x Clemont.
Summary:
Clemont's eyes were briefly bigger than his lenses. Was this not about Pokémon at all? Did Ash want a kid?
"Clemont! Hey, Clemont!" Ash zoomed into the lab at such high speed his shoes left squeaky treads and smoke.
"Whoa, slow down Ash! You might break something!"
"Ohhh, sorry! Did I wreck something you were working on!"
"I meant you, Ash! Wouldn't want you injuring yourself on something sharp in here or tripping over – whoawhoawhoa!" He slipped on a metal pipe.
"Clemont!" Ash caught the Gym Leader under his arms before he was sitting on the floor.
"Dear, look at me, lecturing you on safety and almost breaking something myself! I should tidy up!" Clemont laughed at the irony.
"No, no! My fault, really!" Ash wrested responsibility back from Clemont.
Pikachu picked up the pipe and presented it to his Trainer, who removed it to somewhere less hazardous.
"Thanks, Pikachu."
"Pikachu!"
"So Ash, what was it you were saying before?" Clemont straightened his glasses after straightening himself up.
"Oh! A Pokémon!"
"A Pokémon?"
"Its name is Maushold! A Trainer from out of town had it with him at the Pokémon Center! It was a family of three Pokémon in one, huh Pikachu?"
"Pikachu!"
"Nurse Joy said nobody knows where the child came from when it evolved from Tandemaus! But that got me thinking!"
"About what, Ash?"
"We should have our own little Maushold!"
"Um, okay, I'll do a search to see where they live in the wild and you can –"
"No need, Clemont!"
"Oh? You asked Nurse Joy?"
"Nope! We're gonna make one!"
"Make one? WHA –? ASHH!" Clemont's eyes were briefly bigger than his lenses.
Was this not about Pokémon at all? Did Ash want a kid?
"Ash, it doesn't work like tha –!"
"Pikachu, like we planned!"
"Pika!"
Ash swung his arm over his husband's far shoulder, and Pikachu jumped up between them.
"Ta-da! Our own little Maushold, Clemont!"
"Oh good…For a second there, I thought you were –"
"Thought I was what?"
"Never mind, Ash. Overthinking things." Clemont was able to breathe again.
