Summer was quickly approaching. The grass around the castle was returning to its bright green gue and flowers on the forest floor were in full bloom. I was continually spending more time outside. I liked listening to the birds' high-pitched songs and the way the morning breeze felt in my hair. Alucard was back to spending copious amounts of time in his study and I found myself becoming bored and listless.

I had on a simple dark green sundress. Tight upper bodice and a soft flowing skirt. I walked around outside barefoot most of the time, letting the grass find its way between my toes. It was a rainy summer afternoon and I was drenched from head to toe in the rain. I hadn't seen or heard Alucard leave from his study in over three days. Sypha and Trevor had left earlier that morning to go refresh the castle's supply of food.

I heard a low mumble come from just beyond the castle's line of trees. I summoned my sword to my side, letting it float effortlessly at my side. I had spent enough time out here that I was now able to easily picture each tree and its branches with my eyes open. I silently wondered if Alucard could hear this low grumble that was edging closer toward the castle.

I could picture it clearly. A night beast of unmeasurable size was approaching me, and what… With a tiny human walking slowly in front of it? I cocked my head in surprise when the man pointed his hand at me. The night beast started darting through the forest at unprecedented speed. I moved my hands and shut the castle doors from a distance. Letting the magic, I had been diligently training with Alucard to use, flow from my hands with ease.

Let the battle begin…
