Oftentimes, some look up to hope, and this hope is often mentioned as the ultimates that lived in the many regions of the world.
It was not a surprise that sixteen of these young ultimate talents were invited to explore a newly founded island that was far away from the well-known regions.
As expected, there were fifteen that showed up to the ship that was meant to take them there.
The sixteenth one, however, was the last one to arrive.
Now standing in front of the walkway that lead into the ship's inside, the Pokémon could hardly keep his excitement in, looking at the massive ocean liner made for the ultimates.
He looked left to right, now realizing that his excitement made him forget that there was no one else here, not even the many fans that were for sure to be here.
Perhaps they needed to do it without anyone watching, as there were crazy fans.
Shaking his head, the Pokémon took a deep breath and began to slowly walk forward, his footsteps dropping against the sturdy walkway.
Reaching the entrance, the Pokémon still could not believe that he was chosen.
Out of the hundreds, maybe thousands, of Pokémon, from Kanto to Galar, he was chosen as a 'Lucky Candidate'.
This thought lingered within his head as he took a step into the vessel, expecting someone or something to be there.
However, all the Pokémon got as a welcome was his vision warping and twirling until that was washed away in a sea of black.
--
The Pokémon woke up with a start, his back straightened on the bed.
The bed had a black blanket with a white pillow and sheet, although, the room he was in was dominated in green.
"What the?" He questioned, "How did I get from walking into a ship, to into a bed?"
Strangely enough, he stretched, then shifted over to the end of the bed.
He looked down, seeing the sharp ends of his body protruding like always.
"Wait," The Pokémon said, looking at them, as well as the blades on his arms, "I thought I sharpened them before I came here,"
Standing up from the bed, he looked around the room, seeing a desk, a smaller desk next to the bed, holding a lamp, and two doors.
The gaze from the Pokémon stood with the doors.
Looking closer, one was farther away from the other. So he went to the closest one, opened it, and found out that it was only a bathroom with a shower, a toilet, and a sink.
After closing the door, he walked to the next door, this one having a small corridor before being reached.
He stopped, looking at the handle, and saw a lock, similar to the one on the bathroom door.
"This must lead to the outside of wherever I am, hopefully," With that, he gripped the handle with his hand, pulled it down, and pushed it open.
The Pokémon's eyes were greeted with a hallway.
At one end a large mirror stood proudly, while the other end lead into another supposed room.
On the sides of the hallway stood 15 other doors. One side had pink doors, while the other had blue doors, his included.
He closed the door and noticed that the other doors had small portraits on them.
Portraits of Pokémon.
"The door that I came out of must have a frame as well," He said, looking at the door he walked out of.
The portrait showed a Pokémon and a name under it.
Bisharp - Ultimate Lucky Candidate
"Huh?" Bisharp asked, confused at seeing himself in the portrait, "Should have expected that,"
"So the other doors must be the other ultimate's rooms," He said, walking down the corridor, eyeing the portraits on the doors, "Better not disturb them, and keep on walking,"
So he did, and soon, arrived at the next room.
This one was bigger than the hallway, and most likely all the rooms combined, with a huge table in the middle.
On one of the walls, a huge screen showcasing a map of most likely the building Bisharp was in.
There was another map on another wall, though this one Bisharp had no clue what it showed.
The next thing that caught Bisharp's eye was the two other Pokémon in the room.
One was standing in a corner, while the other sat at the table.
Seeing them, Bisharp thought that they must be ultimates, and decided to do his greetings.
He breathed in and walked up to the Pokémon that was standing.
On closer inspection, it had a mohawk-like hairstyle on its head and looked to wear oversized pants that it held with its two hands.
"Excuse me," Bisharp said, getting the Pokémon's attention.
"Oh, hello," His voice sounded so boring as if listening to a long lecture, yet Bisharp wanted to hear more, "are you another ultimate?"
"Yes I am," Bisharp replied, "My name is Bisharp, I'm the Ultimate Lucky Candidate,"
"Oh, you're the lucky one?" The Pokémon spoke again, clearing its throat, "My name is Scrafty, and I am the Ultimate Historian, it is an absolute pleasure to meet you,"
Scrafty - Ultimate Historian
Bisharp nodded upon hearing that, "It's nice to meet you too,"
Hearing this, Scrafty's mouth turned into one of confusion, and then suspicion.
"Wh-whats wrong? Did I do something?" Bisharp asked, turning worried.
"You can just tell me my voice is boring you out, you know?" Scrafty said, "Instead of making that face,"
"Huh?" Bisharp asked, confused, "It is not, I can assure you,"
"There is a reason why I am trying not to speak for too long," He muttered, turning away, "I'm sorry, but can you go? It was nice meeting you, but I don't want to start again with my long drabble,"
"Alright," Bisharp replied, walking away and feeling dejected, "Let me speak to that other Pokémon,"
Bisharp walked to the other Pokémon and stopped in front of it.
In one of its hands, it held a kitchen knife, with its head looking down at it.
Seeing the knife, Bisharp felt a little queasy, but became prepared to speak anyway.
"Excuse me," He said to the Pokémon, and its head looked up and locked eyes with him.
A gust of tenseness blew over Bisharp as he stared at the Pokémon, its red eyes matching the red hands and lightning-styled line of red that shoved itself onto its main white fur.
That tenseness, however, disappeared as the Pokémon spoke.
"Oh, hi," He greeted, even forming a smile, "Nice to meet you, what's your name?"
"Uh, oh," Bisharp said, regaining his posture, "My name is Bisharp, and my Ultimate is the Ultimate Lucky Candidate, what's your name?"
"Oh right, my name," The Pokémon spoke, "My name is Zangoose, and I am known as the Ultimate Cook, don't know if you heard about me,"
Zangoose - Ultimate Cook
"Ultimate Cook?" Bisharp asked, "Phew, I thought you were something else,"
"Was it the knife?" Zangoose asked, raising the knife, "I guess that's understandable,"
"Erm, yeah," Bisharp said, sweat starting to drip, "you are right,"
Zangoose turned his head, "Something wrong? Are you having trouble socializing?"
"Oh, no," Bisharp shook his head, looking at the knife, "Whenever I stare at something sharp, I get queasy,"
"Really?" Zangoose asked, raising an eyebrow, "I suppose the many sharp blades on your body don't affect you, right?"
Bisharp nodded.
"You are an interesting fellow," Zangoose said, "I would have had a better time believing you were socially awkward,"
"Yeah," Bisharp replied, looking at the huge screens on the walls, "Do you know what these are?"
Zangoose gazed at what Bisharp was talking about, "Not really, but after looking at them, they seem to be maps of this building and the outside,"
"Outside?" Bisharp asked, "Outside of the ship?"
A scoff came from Zangoose, "One thing I can tell you is that we are not on the ship anymore,"
"Really?"
"I can guarantee it," He replied, "The maps on the walls will state the same thing,"
Focusing on the screens, one looked to be the inside of a building and showed the same hallway and bedrooms Bisharp was previously at. There were also other rooms within the building, leading to another hallway that he just noticed now.
The other screen was a little different, and a bit confusing.
Instead of the inside of a building, the screen showed the outside, with five buildings in a circular shape. In the middle was a round pond of some sort.
"I can understand why this map is from the outside, but what are these buildings?" Bisharp asked, pointing at them.
"I know one is this building, named 'Dorms', Zangoose responded, "I guess it is the one with the bedrooms and everything,"
"Uh huh," Bisharp nodded.
"The other buildings though, I don't know," He continued, "but I know the others are searching them,"
"Others?" Bishop asked, feeling himself get excited, "You mean the other ultimates?"
"Well, yeah," Zangoose replied, nodding, "If you are going to go introduce yourself to them, the doors that lead to the outside are over there,"
He pointed to the two big doors that were situated in between the corner Scrafty stood in and another.
"Thank you," Bisharp said, "I'll see you later then,"
"See you," Zangoose responded, looking back at the knife.
After talking with Zangoose, Bisharp knew what to do.
He approached the two doors, placed his arms in front of him, and with a deep breath, pushed the doors open.
A frenzy of colours met Bisharp's gaze, making him cover his eyes.
Once he lowered his arms, Bisharp took a good look at the outside.
The ground was covered in grass that looked to be taken care of. A trail led from the stoop of the building to a circle in the middle. This circle had other pathways that led to the four buildings on the map. In the middle of the circle, a fountain stood in its grace, spewing out water to almost perfect proportions.
Although the sight left its mark in Bisharp's head, a few things led him to curiosity.
First was the other pathways that started at the circle around the pond, but ended at the walls surrounding the area.
The second thing made him look up at the massive dome that covered the top of the place, almost like a helmet.
"Now this is definitely not the ship," Bisharp said, closing the doors behind him, "But, I can't tell,"
It was true. Though one could say that if Bisharp was on a ship, the swaying of the ship floating on the sea or the creaking of the structure would have notified him, but of course, the ship was made to have you feeling like you were on land, so one could not really tell if they experienced it themselves.
Another thing that caught Bisharp's attention, was the Pokémon that stood on the pathway, looking up, seeming to be mindlessly wondering.
He never thought of it much and began to walk to it.
Once close enough, he could see its skin was dark blue, with its red chest and two spots of yellow on its head and below the red bit. On closer inspection, Bisharp saw the fins on its arms and one on its back, and by this, he was sure that this Pokémon was a male.
So he breathed in, ready to speak.
"Excuse me, Sir," He called out.
The Pokémon looked down at Bisharp, and his blood ran cold.
While looking at the Pokémon, Bisharp knew that it had something that could distinguish it from being a male and a female, which was on its back fin.
The reason why Bisharp began to sweat and become contaminated with fear was not that it was taller than him.
But because it was a female, while he thought it was a male.
"I-I'm sorry!" At this point, Bisharp began to shake and sweat, "I did-did not mean to make that mistake!"
His arm shot forward in a handshake gesture, "I ju-just wanted to greet you,"
At some point, Bisharp closed his eyes, expecting the worst.
However, Bisharp felt his hand being grabbed, and it and his body began to shake. He opened his eyes to see the Pokémon with a smile on her face.
"Hello there, friend, it's nice to meet you!" Her voice was surprisingly energetic, "What's your name?"
She looked again at Bisharp who was getting shaken up and down by her handshake, "Oops, sorry,"
With that, The Pokémon released Bisharp's hand, and he flew up and landed on his back on the ground.
"Sorry about that," She said, rubbing her head with her claw, "I sometimes forget my strength whenever I am so pumped,"
"It's fine," Bisharp said, getting up, "I'm not hurt,"
"Well, what's your name?" She asked again.
Bisharp nearly replied quickly due to her voice, "Oh, my name's Bisharp, and I'm the Ultimate Lucky Candidate,"
The Pokémon shook its head, "What a name, but it's missing something..."
This led Bisharp to look in confusion, "What is it missing?"
"Importance!" She shouted, making Bisharp jump, "When you say your name, you're supposed to say it with pride, since that is what your name deserves,"
"I see," Bisharp said, still shaky from her shout.
"Speaking of which," The Pokémon said, "I did not introduce myself yet, so allow me to do now,"
"Alright," Bisharp replied, preparing himself for another shock.
The Pokémon breathed in, "My name is Garchomp, and I am known as the Ultimate Motivator!"
Garchomp - Ultimate Motivator
"No wonder," He muttered.
"See how I did it?" Garchomp said, folding her arms, "That has the energy and confidence to let anyone know who you are,"
"That was really impressive," Bisharp said.
"So now you try," Garchomp said, pointing to him.
"Wait, right now?" He asked.
"Yes!" She replied, "You can do it, just feel the energy within you,"
"Okay," Bisharp began, reluctantly, "My name is Bisharp and..."
"No, no," Garchomp stopped him, "Say it louder, I know you can do it,"
At this Bisharp felt himself shout, "My name is Bisharp! I am the Ultimate Lucky Candidate!"
"Hmm," Garchomp mumbled, holding her head with her claw, "I can see you have it, but you need to practice,"
"I see what you mean," He said, feeling quite energetic, "but not right now, I still have to meet the other ultimates,"
"Damn," Garchomp said, disappointed, "Well, if you want to work on it, just come ask me anytime,"
"Will do," Bisharp said, "Bye,"
"Bye, Bisharp," Garchomp said, smiling.
At the sound of that, he walked down the pathway.
"I don't know if it is her energy or her confidence," Bisharp said, walking to the ring, "but she made me want to do something, I guess she lives up to her talent,"
Once reaching the circular pathway, Bisharp was wondering where he could go, but after thinking, he decided to walk to the left.
Walking down the ever-turning pathway, he finally reached one of the buildings.
The outside was not really much. With a few windows and an ordinary door, it could be easily forgotten.
Though Bisharp found a sign next to the entrance, and this read 'Storage'.
"Storage?" Bisharp asked himself, staring at the sign, "What could be stored in here? I better look inside,"
Taking a step, something flew against Bisharp's head, and he immediately jumped out of the way and covered his head.
He looked up and calmed down.
The Pokémon that stood, or floated, before him looked much like a balloon, its purple skin stretched. The red dots on its face and the yellow 'X' covered what appeared to be its mouth did not go well with its cloudy hair.
Below its huge body, four ribbon-like arms swayed with it, most likely the thing that Bisharp walked against.
"Sorry about that," It said patting Bisharp's head with one of its arms, "I tend to forget that these things are loose,"
Its voice almost sounded like he was running out of breath as if needing air.
"It's not a problem," Bisharp replied, standing up straight, "I needed to greet you anyway,"
"Oh, really?" The Pokémon said, "Well let me start. My name is Drifblim, and I am the Ultimate Aviator."
Drifblim - Ultimate Aviator
"Nice to meet you, Drifblim," Bisharp replied, "My name is Bisharp, and I am the Ultimate Lucky Candidate,"
"One of those randoms, eh?" Drifblim asked, "Well congrats, but that won't help our situation now,"
"Situation?" Bisharp asked,
"Yeah, I think we may be stuck in this place," Drifblim answered, "but I can't stop hating the fact that I don't know why we are here,"
"You think we are stuck?" Bisharp asked,
"Well, it's just a guess," He replied, "but I won't settle for that unless I get a logical reason,"
"You know, I even tried to break this dome, but that does not even work," Drifblim said, anger starting to show, "I hate that,"
"Well, I would not know why we are here," Bisharp said,
"Sorry Bisharp," Drifblim said, "I need to go, got to release some air,"
So Drifblim floated away from Bisharp, while he stood there watching him.
"I should head into this building," He said, walking to the Storage door and opening it.
In front of him stood many rows of isles filled to the brim with literally everything. There was so much variety that Bisharp could not even name any of them.
Though, of course, down one of the isles, Bisharp saw a Pokémon looking at what appeared to be an isle that housed chemicals.
Bisharp walked up to the Pokémon and saw it holding an open capsule, seeming to sniff it.
"Hello," Bisharp said, causing the Pokémon to turn towards him.
It had a roundish egg-like shape, it's main colour scheme was pink. The egg that sat snuggly in its pouch convinced Bisharp who it was.
"Oh, Hello," The Pokémon greeted, closing the capsule and placing it back onto the shelf, "I don't think we met before,"
"Yeah, I'm Bisharp, the Ultimate Lucky Candidate," He answered, "What's your name?"
"Nice to meet you, dear," The Pokémon said, "My name is Chansey, and I'm the Ultimate Chemist,"
Chansey - Ultimate Chemist
"How are you feeling today?" Chansey asked in an almost motherly tone, "Is there anything wrong?"
"I'm alright," Bisharp answered, "I know my face says different but I promise I'm okay,"
"Don't worry," She said, "It was not your face, but I can tell something else is bothering you,"
Bisharp looked at her with confusion, "What could be bothering me?"
Chansey placed her hand under her chin, "Intimidation?"
"Huh? What do you mean?" He asked.
"Well, I suppose you are intimidated with all the ultimates around you while you only possess luck," Chansey answered, but held her arms up in defence, "Not that it's a bad thing,"
"Maybe you are right when you put it like that," Bisharp said.
"Either way, I don't want you to feel intimidated by me," She said, "but maybe Decidueye will most likely do it,"
"Who?" Bisharp asked.
"He's behind you, you know," Chansey said.
Suddenly, Bisharp felt a chill in his spine upon hearing that and turned around.
Once turned, he met his gaze with another Pokemon. This one looked like a bird, its green and light brown wings looking like a cape, with a hoodie over its head. Its eyes having a cold glare was probably the cause for Bisharp to jump back in fright, nearly falling over.
"Uh..." The Pokémon said, staring at Bisharp, "What are you jumping for?"
"You scared me," Bisharp said, looking back at it.
"It's my fault, dear," Chansey said, having a sad expression on her face, "I apologize,"
"Whatever," The Pokémon spoke, "Even though you greeted Chansey already, I did not hear your name,"
"Oh, Okay," Bisharp said, "My name is Bisharp and I am the Ultimate Lucky Candidate,"
The Pokémon looked away, not seeming interested in what he said, "I'm called Decidueye, and I'm the Ultimate Forensic Scientist,"
Decidueye - Ultimate Forensic Scientist
"It's nice meet you-"
"I assume we have nothing more important to say to one another," Decidueye said, facing his back towards Bisharp, "So it is a farewell for now,"
And with that, Decidueye walked away.
"I hope Zangoose does not speak to him," Bisharp muttered under his breath.
"Don't mind him," Chansey said, looking at the shelves, "He is like that, but I'm sure he means no harm,"
"That's good to know," Bisharp said, "I have to go now though, it was nice meeting you Chansey,"
"It is my pleasure that I met you, Bisharp," Chansey said, putting on a warming smile, "and don't worry, if you are still intimidated, think about how lucky you are, that is a talent within itself,"
"I'll keep that in mind," He said, walking to the entrance and leaving.
"Weird," Bisharp said, closing the door, "I never thought of it like that, but is luck really a talent or is it just... luck?"
He looked at the other three buildings he had yet to explore, "Okay, six down, nine more to go."
