Notes: I had this scenario in my head since reading his interlude and listening to his 'idle' voice line and 'activity max' voice line for his Glory frame.

It's been living in my head rent-free and I haven't been able to focus on anything unless I got this out.
Kane is the name of my commandant in-game so yeah this can be a male self-insert if you want it to be.

I hope you enjoy this little drabble.

"And that's everything Langston?" his roommate says, not once looking up from the papers and books scattered across the countertop.

Langston brushes back his golden locks from his eyes and harrumphs, ultimately he softens his gaze at the fellow before him.

"Yes… that's all goodnight Kane." He says biting his tongue, not to reveal anything else, the male before him was so engrossed in his studies that he dare not interrupt him 'Kamui and Wanshi invited me to hang out at the café nearby tomorrow after evening classes, they said I can invite someone.' He ponders, should he tell him or not? Will he say no?

"Why the long face?"

He gasped but his shock subsided as he noticed the frown on the latter's face. "Nothing…"

The other sighs, "Langston what's wrong?" he cups their hands together, "I see the cogs turning in your mind do tell me what's wrong."

"You've come to read me so well," A sigh escapes his lips, "Kamui and Wanshi invited me to hang out at the café nearby our college tomorrow," he curses how pitiful, how cowardly his voice sounded, Kane squeezes his hand, firmly to provide some sort of semblance of comfort. "they said I can bring someone…" he musters up as much courage as he could to look him in his eyes, blue eyes bore into hazel ones, "Kane, would you like to join me?"

Waiting for an answer was excruciating. Time could not go any slower, it was almost the silence was almost taunting him.

"I would love to," Kane says, offering him his most intoxicating smile.

That's right, Kane was not Mr Smith.

Kane did not reject him, he was not interrupting him.

He is not a bother.

However, rejection is okay.

"I think we both need our rest." With that said Kane closes his books and stacks up the papers. "Besides, Kamui can be a bit of a handful."

He truly appreciates Kane.

He chuckles at that statement, "I guess you're right."

Notes: I thought this up because Chrome's character just speaks to me, watching him strive to be his own person after living to please Mr Smith.
Story of my life.

Chrome here is no longer with Mr Smith; our commandant is helping him heal and helping him reassess his self-worth and he deserves the world.
