A little while later, both Maestro's had announced that there was another surprise waiting for them. The human guests awaited what surprise was in-store, when all of a sudden, the stained glass murals that lined the isle glowed a brilliant light, and shot upwards, creating a beautiful Aroura Borealis-esque show in the sky.
The humans looked in awe at the lights in the sky, as they spread all throughout Wonderworld, it's beauty too captivating to stop looking at it. "Oh Balan! It's absolutely amazing!" Iben said, her eyes sparkling as she and John cuddling together in the snow. "She's right!" Bruce said, he and Mara gazing at the Borealis in the sky.
Balan and Lance smiled, they often heard the same thing heard year after year from the costumes. But hearing it from those outside of Wonderworld, brought on a sense of pride. "Why thank you friends, that means a lot. Gives us a reason it give it all we got." Lance said, his cold demeanor warming up in the snow.
Balan's smile however, got a bit bigger "That's not all that's in store! In fact, for surprises, there's one more!" He said, his gaze still fixed on the sky. The human guests didn't know what that meant, until they saw small white streaks shoot through the Borealis, causing small ripples in the light that made the light streaks, explode like fireworks, and then return into streaks.
These small streaks, as it turns out, were shooting star like snowflakes that had gained the Borealis's magical glow. Leo's eyes widened, this is what Balan was talking about back in the theater! Now it all depended on actually CATCHING one of them, especially without Alice seeing him. That's when he had an idea "Hey Mr Cole? Can you talk to my mom? At least until the lights fade out?" He asked. Francis raised an eyebrow, but he complied nonetheless, walking to the blonde woman, and beginning a friendly chat with her.
Seeing that she was distracted, Leo got to work trying to catch one. However, the snowflakes were descending to the ground too fast, almost seeming to shatter upon impact to the ground. Leo looked up, hoping to see where they would Land next, but even that was hard to tell, thanks to the explosions of light in the sky. Leo wouldn't give up though, He had to get one for his mom's gift.
Emma saw what Leo was trying to do and rushed to his aid, hoping that an extra set of eyes and hands would be able to catch one, but even the snowflakes evaded her grasp as well. Soon, after a few minutes of a aimless snowflake catch, they ran into each other and landed in the snow. Leo laid in the snow, his eyes looking above at the shimmering lights that glimmered above him.
"'Sigh' so much for catching one..." Leo sighed, sadness in his voice. Emma walked over to him and joined him on the ground "Well, Maybe you can find her something else." She said, her eyes taking in the colors above her. The two of them heard footsteps as Balan and Lance leaned over them. "Hello you two! You look distraught...I see a snowflake you haven't caught..." they both said, completing each other's sentences.
Leo glared at the top hatted maestro "Oh Gee. Ya think?" He asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "That's a shame, but I'm sure it'll be fine, especially since I'm giving you one of mine." Balan said, one of the magic glowing snowflakes in his hand. Leo's eyes widened. "Y-You caught one?! But how?!" He asked in awe "One of the joy's of being me, I can get closer to them, see?" He said, handing one of them to Leo.
Leo took the snowflake from Balan as if he was taking a Baby Tim. The snoflake absorbed the light from the Borealis, making the snowflake glow a rainbow of color, and making it shine brighter than the stars in the sky "Whoa..." Leo whispered in awe, he had finally gotten the perfect gift for his mom. "Will it melt Balan?" Emma asked. "Perish the thought, melting it will not." Balan simply replied before he felt Leo hug his torso and tackle him to the ground.
"Balan...thank you..." Leo said, a sincere smile on his face. Balan hugged the boy back. "You are very welcome Leo..." He said as they all looked back up at the Borealis, and the magic snowflake fireworks in the sky.
