Author's note: Adalia is my own original character. She is based off of Sheik from the oot manga, as well as Skyward Sword's Impa and Twilight Princess' Midna.
"Hello! Anybody Home?" The boy in the yellow cape yelled. Adalia jumped down behind them, leaving behind her makeshift bedroom. She hadn't been social before the calamity, and she was reluctant to return to the world of others. She preferred the solitude of her mind, and the freedom to do as she pleased. Now there were 32 people standing in her home. Finally she spoke, voice cracking from disuse. "What d'ya want." "Are you the old guy's kid?" responded yellow cape. "Lemme guess, he sent you here saying I'd help you. Fine, but you do as I say." The Fodlanders exchanged nervous glances. The old man had forgotten to mention how aloof his daughter was. "We'll accept. Thank you for your generosity." This statement came from a boy with a white cape. She scoffed in response. Leave it to father to get her messed up in all of this. "You can find a place down here to sleep. Avoid going outside." She then climbed back up to her bed. She could figure this out in the morning.
Below the now sleeping Adalia, the houses had each claimed a section of the temple as their territory. The small room near the door was now home to the golden deer, now joined by the young Almyran boy. Raphael sat in the corner after determining there wasn't any food nearby. Ignatz, Marianne, and Hildasat huddled in the corner sleeping. Cyril and Leonie had found a few arrows in the jars on the floor, and had started trying to find a way to make them effective in combat. Claude, Lysithea, and Lorenz were by the entrance, discussing what they would do in this strange land. "We should go along with the old man's advice for now, he's our only established contact." "Claude please, we should leave this place and the dirty peasant girl behind." "What a brilliant idea Lorenz, why didn't I do that. Oh wait, because we know nothing about this place!" "Stop!" The arguing pair turned to see a vexed Lysithea glaring at them. "Right now this dirty peasant girl is our only chance at survival, so quit whining." The pair sheepishly separated, before succumbing to their exhaustion.
By the statue at the far end of the temple sat the blue lions. Dimitri raised his head at the sound of approaching footsteps. "May I join you?" "Of course Flayn." "Thank you Prince Dimitri." As Dimitri and Flayn talked, Dedue was sitting in front of the statue. He needed to get his highness out of this situation, but how? Behind him Ashe, Ingrid, Sylvain, and Felix were having a meeting about the days events. "That girl is a danger to us until we discover more about her." Oh come on Felix, lighten up. She's not dangerous, besides she's kinda cute." Sylvain felt a hand smack the back of his head. "Ow! What was that for." Sylvain, for once in your life take things seriously." Ingrid's glare convinced to keep silent. "What do you suppose the danger they mentioned was?" All eyes were now on Ashe. "I mean we haven't encountered any other life besides a few birds." He glanced at Mercedes and Annette who were sleeping near the destroyed wall. What sort of danger was this temple protecting them from?
Above them in the room on the roof were the black eagles. Bernadetta had claimed the corner for herself. She had been shaking for hours and showed no signs of stopping. Linhardt had curled up next to her, falling asleep immediately. She envied his calm demeanor. She felt like she was going to die. Caspar was climbing everywhere on the roof. How did he have so much energy? Looking up revealed Dorothea and Petra coming to sit by her. "It's going to be ok. We're in this together." "I will be doing the protecting of you." Having them by her side calmed her enough to fall into a deep sleep. The center of the small room was occupied by Edelgard, Hubert, and Ferdinand. "We should go along with the residents of this plateau for now." "What if their bandits" "I think that the two of them would be no match for us." "Three actually Edelgard. Have you already forgotten the boy." "Enough Ferdinand, her highness needs rest." Indeed Edelgard was looking significantly paler than usual. She glanced to the corner, before getting up to join the growing huddle of sleeping students. Kronya watched from her post at the far edge of the roof. She had overheard Solon and Thales discussing her sacrifice before she went to the monastery. Was she really that worthless to them? She had done everything they had ever asked of her. Now she sat surrounded by her enemies, wondering if she had a place in either of these worlds. She didn't even notice the boy called Link sitting down next to her,
Below them the ashen wolves sat on the small stone wall by the edge of the temple. Looking out at the landscape revealed no obvious threats. And so they went down the hill, exploring this strange land. Behind them they heard a clacking sound. Turning revealed a creature's skeleton holding a wooden spear. The part they were focused on however was the eyes. Eyes that glowed a terrifying red. Constance opened her mouth, emitting a high screeching sound. The creature charged them, now joined by five others.
Inside the temple Adalia awoke to the screams. Of course they'd gone outside. Grabbing the lynel bow next to her she jumped down, running towards the scene. The few feeble attempts at fighting were proof that these outsiders had no place here. The two girls had fired a couple spells at the stalkoblins, only managing to enrage them. White cape was trying to hit them with a tree branch, only for it to snap. The only one having any success was the big one. He had managed to keep them away from his less capable friends with a few well timed blows.
Stopping at the top of the hill she drew her bow. If she timed this right she could take down three at a time. She released the first arrows, hitting the skeletons in the head. The others looked up, and upon seeing her crawled back into the ground. At least they knew to obey her. Taking advantage of the stunned silence she yelled at them. "Is it really that hard to stay indoors!? I mean seriously, how stupid are you! You're lucky I'm not kicking you out!" With that she turned and went back to her room. The ashen wolves went and sat by the blue lions. They went to sleep soon after, sensing that the next day would be even harder.
