Anna Jay sighs and stretches lazily. It's cold out, she can feel it creeping in through the walls, and it makes her cranky and reluctant to move. But she also knows if she hates it, then Tay Conti must be completely miserable, so she sighs and un-cocoons herself from the bedding, grimacing as her toes hit the floor. Scrambling for socks and slippers, she finally makes her way slowly out of the bedroom.
The kitchen somehow feels a little warmer and she breathes it in before flicking a light on, wincing against its brightness before finding the gourmet cocoa they found at a local sweets shop, setting a pot of milk onto the stove to warm up. While she waits, she pulls out a bag of marshmallows, humming sleepily under breath and waiting. Once she's satisfied with the milk, she mixes it and a generous couple spoonfuls of the cocoa into two mugs and drops three large marshmallows into them after stirring it.
She carefully gets ahold of the mugs and pads her way back to the bedroom, careful not to let a lot of light into the room as she pushes the door open and peers inside.
Tay is still sprawled out in bed, breathing steadily, fast asleep. Anna smiles at her, gently setting one mug on her bedside table, before rounding the bed and setting the second on hers. Crawling back into bed, she presses close to Tay's back and hugs her close, pressing gentle, warm kisses to her neck, brushing her hair out of the way to journey along her throat, up her jaw to her cheek. "Good morning," she murmurs upon feeling Tay's eyes flutter against her skin.
"Anna?" she mumbles, accent thick as she struggles to wake up enough to make sense of the world around her. "What... what's happening?"
"I made cocoa," Anna murmurs into her skin, and Tay hums, tilting her face towards her.
"Did you now?" she mumbles, yawning into her hand. "Well, then. This is the sweetest wake up call I've ever had."
Anna grins and eases back so Tay can sit up, lean back against the headboard, and start sipping from her cocoa. "It was a little chilly, so I thought this would be the perfect way to start Christmas."
Tay's eyes widen. "Oh, shit," she realizes. "It's Christmas."
Anna laughs. "Yes," she says. "It definitely is."
Tay hums, sets her cocoa aside and does the same for Anna's, before drawing her closer and pressing a kiss to her lips. "Merry Christmas, Anna," she whispers.
"Merry Christmas," Anna says, grinning as Tay presses kisses along her face, her nose, up to her forehead. She breathes shallowly, and then murmurs, "The cocoa's gonna get cold."
"We can always reheat it," Tay shrugs. "There are other ways to keep warm, anyway."
Anna laughs. "You're horrible," she says, then gasps as Tay shifts to smoothly straddle her, grazing her fingers up Anna's sides.
"Maybe," she says. "You love it though."
All thoughts of cocoa flee from Anna's mind as she looks up at Tay, still rumpled from sleep, a slight ring of cocoa around her lips. She's never looked more gorgeous in all of the years that Anna's known her. "You're right," she breathes, reaching out for Tay and drawing her back down to resume kissing her. "I absolutely do."
