Ace wakes up with her arm slung over Graham's chest with him looking down at her, "Good morning, Ace."

"Good morning, Graham." They look at each other and smile when they hear a clatter downstairs. Her eyes go wide, "How can I forget that they are here," Ace leans off the bed to grab Graham's shirt and puts it on." She looks around, "Sorry I must remember that we are not the only ones here."

"You look better in that shirt than I could ever look in it, keep it on."

"You sure?"

"Yes," he leans in to try and kiss her.

''I have morning breath," she stops him looking towards that black umbrella with a red question mark handle, "Why would The Doctor ever leave me an umbrella when I barely use one already."

"I don't know." Ace gets up and opens it up to clothes falling out, a change of clothes falling out.

"Did she know that we were going to be together at one point or something?"

"You know what they would say about that, right?"

"Timey wimey," They shared a laugh.

"Exactly, now I can get dressed and we can face those two downstairs and eat." Ace laughs and shakes her head.

"Loverboy is always hungry."

"Always."

Downstairs…

"His car is still in the driveway." Tegan comes bouncing back in after taking a small look outside.

"Just don't tease them to bad honey."

A devilish smile comes across Tegan's face, "You know it is taking them a while to come down the stairs."

"Tegan Jovanka, don't you dare go up there and force them down here."

"That won't be needed anyway, thank you Nyssa for trying to stop her though," Ace says as she and Graham enter the kitchen.

"Graham, did you have a change of clothes in your car?"

"No, though working with UNIT I probably should start carrying a go bag."

"Just for work? How did you get the clothes then, and why is Ace wearing your shirt from last night?"

"Somehow The Doctor knew that Graham would need some extra clothes one day and put some in his old umbrella."

"Which means you will eventually see the Doctor again and tell them to do that."

"We know." Ace gets a bowl down for herself and Graham as they make themselves some cereal before work. "What happened to the two of you last night, one moment you were there and the next you weren't."

"Surprised you notice, it was like the two of you were wrapped into each other's arms."

"You two changed the song didn't you," with no reply just smiles, "thank you."

"I agree with Ace, thank you. I better get going so I can head home and brush my teeth."

"I am sure we can find you a spare. You will probably need it again if you keep having sleepovers here." Both Ace and Graham blush a little, "though they probably are not going to include much sleep."

"TEGAN!" Nyssa shouts, "What did I say, leave them alone. How would you feel if roles were reversed?"

"Ace and I talk like this all the time, you know that."

"As long as it's ok with Ace, it's ok with me." Ace shows Graham out of the kitchen as they look for a spare brush.

"You can brush them in my bathroom, it will keep you away from them for a few minutes."

''Are you ok with everything Ace?" He rubs her arm.

''Yes, I am, Tegan is just paying me back for my ribbing of her for how bad I teased her when her Nyssa finally got together."

"You sure?"

"I am; now go brush your teeth, it takes about 45 minutes to get her to headquarters."

"Ok, do you want everyone to see you in my shirt?"

"What?" Ace looks down at her attire, "I best change then. If you want to look, go ahead."

"I don't think we would leave if I did, so I will close the door." Graham closes the door after Ace walks out thinking she should go very slow finding her clothes for the day. After he is finished brushing he knocks on the door Ace says come in, "Wow sorry," he covers his eyes of a half dressed Ace.

"Nothing to be sorry for." she goes up to him, removes his hand and kisses him, "You saw last night. Minty fresh." She walks back to the closet and puts on her shirt and a blazer. "Are you coming Graham?"

"In a minute," he stands there trying to think of anything but Ace standing there in just a bra and pants.

"What took you so long, Ace and where is Graham?"

"Oh I just gave him a small shock." He runs down to catch up with them.

"That was cruel Ace." She laughs and gives him a small kiss, "I love you."

"I love you too." Ace locks up behind them. Nyssa and Tegan smiling at Ace knowing what she had to have done to get a reaction like that.

Quitely to Tegan "you pulled the same thing to me after we got together."

"It was Ace's idea,I asked her ways that would get you to blush, and it worked. I wanted us to last and here we are."

"You didn't have to try so hard with me."

"I know that now." They watch Ace and Graham say goodbye and kiss yet again.

"Go ahead, we don't want to be late."

"Oi, you two lovebirds, it's time to go to work. You may be fine in being late and getting to be a part of the gossip pool again, but we don't."

"I guess I will see you soon then Ace?"

"You will," she gives a kiss and turns around and walks away. When everyone is at work Kate walks in.

"I have a mission in a small village called Leadworth. You do have a small chance in running into The Doctor in his bow tie wearing form. This mission does require a couple who is in a new relationship and can act all lovey dovey." Tegan and Nyssa look towards Ace then Graham who then look at each other. "Good we have some volunteers, Ace, Graham you will have two hours to go home and pack, and remember that you are in love."

Tegan to herself, "that won't be a problem." Ace and Graham head their separate ways to quickly pack.

Graham picks up his phone, "So you and I are going to be ourselves in that small town?"

"We also won't have to worry about those that know us teasing us every chance they can."

"Do you want me to pick you up then, my car is less conspicuous."

"Let's do that, see you soon Graham." They hang up, Graham finishes packing and heads over to Ace's. He picks her up and they go back to headquarters to get more details, Graham pats his chest to make sure he still has the psychic paper.

"Ok, if you two cross paths with The Doctor what will you do?"

"I will make sure to not say my name and know that I am from his future."

"Good, I have a picture somewhere of him and his companions at the time somewhere," Kate looks around her desk, "Here it is."

"You know this will also explain why he knew I was soaring in life when he talked to me." Ace tells Graham as they walk out and start their road trip to Leadworth.

"If we do, we will have to explain why he needs to leave his umbrella in November 2022."

"We will, I can't wait for his reaction, that the young girl he saved from the planet has no doubt of being in a committed relationship."

"He will be happy Ace, want to stop somewhere to eat?"

"Is food always on your mind?"

"Food and you, sometimes other things pop in here like Ryan and I wonder how Yaz is doing. Though now mostly it has been you and if you heard the times that I almost told you that I love you before I thought you were ready."

"I did hear you each time, Graham and it took time for me to admit it to myself. With advice from Nyssa and a few dreams plus a hologram visit or two from my Doctor helping me along. Which reminds of one of the big fights when he called me an emotional cripple."

"What?!" Graham pulls over to the side of the road, "He said you were a what?"

"An emotional cripple, it was to make sure Fenric couldn't get a hold of me, because of their long chess match, and the fact I had to lose my faith in him."

"It quickly was put behind us, though the wolf inside of me almost came out again in our next adventure."

"He still had no right to say that to you, Ace."

"Graham, it was over 30 years ago, it's ok."

"It's not alright to ever call someone an emotional cripple."

"I know that Graham, I am ok. Can we keep on driving, I love how defensive you just got, but remember it years and years ago for me."

''I guess with how everything happened when my mum died when I was a kid and my dad threw everything away that was hers, I knew to always cherish those close to me."

"You lost your mom as a kid?"

"She died suddenly when I was a toddler in 1962." Ace puts her hand on Graham's.

"I am so sorry to hear that." Graham turns on the blinker to notify that driver that he will be going back on the roadway.

"It's ok, it has been 60 years. There are some hard days, but I barely knew her." Ace leans across to kiss him on the cheek.

Four hours later they arrive in Leadworth to see a man just staring at a blue door. Ace walks up to him, after getting her backpack from the back. "Sir are you ok?"

"No, I recently just lost two of my friends. They lived here. I am trying to get the courage to tell their family." He turns around. "Ace, what are you doing here?"

"Hello Professor, their families already know 10 years ago their adoptive son came and told them."

"You heard about Amy and Rory?"

"Professor, it is 2022." Graham just stands there seeing a man in a bow-tie thinking how weird it is to see the Doctor being a tall man.

"Why did I overshoot it? River just left for her professorship, and I am all alone."

Ace, having read some of what he was up to for a few years, "You may want to go to Victorian England to be with some of your friends that will help you mourn your great loss."

"I will do that, who is that man with you?"

"Someone who you will eventually meet, but when you do can you please leave your umbrella at my place in November 2022 with some of his clothes?"

"Is he good to you?"

Ace smiles and looks back at Graham who has walked away to give them some time to talk, "He is. He is also the first person that I have dated that doesn't judge me and wants in on blowing up Daleks."

"You still do that?"

"Yes, but now it's called Nitro-999. You will need to know that for your future and my recent past."

"Ace, did you ever forgive me for how I treated you?"

"I am talking to you aren't I?" She bumps their shoulders together, "Professor, you are a complicated alien, but well loved by many people, human or alien."

"Sarah Jane told me that in my last regeneration."

"So you have two people who have known you most of their lives telling you that, what does that tell you?"

"They are right."

''Good, now get on and get back to The TARDIS before something decides to come and attack it. I am with UNIT now, so I can handle it."

"What about A Charitable Earth?"

"I do both. You may want to call or leave a message for River to get Nyssa back to earth."

"Why?"

"Let's just say she has someone on earth that needs her, not me, but someone else."

"Tegan?''

"Yes, how did you know?"

"I went to see them on their wedding day, though they didn't see me before I regenerated."

"Ok, Ace, be happy and don't take anyone or anything for granted. If that fellow over there makes you happy, tell him that."

"I will," she watches The Doctor head back to The TARDIS, "Graham you can come over here now." He walks over to her.

"What happened to him?"

"It seems that The TARDIS took him here when he wanted it to be 2012, right after losing Amy and Rory. This is where they used to live." They just stand there for a few minutes before walking away, "He also told me to make sure that you know that you make me happy."

"You make me happy too Ace, do you think that this is important?"

"I don't know, maybe Kate just wanted us away for a few nights. Maybe part of the timeline had to remain intact and I had to be the one to talk to him." Graham grabs her hand as they start to move away from the door when it opens up.

"Ace, Graham, what are you doing here?"

"UNIT sent us for some reason, The Doctor, fresh from losing Amy and Rory, was here, and Ace talked to him."

"Why didn't he want to come in?"

"I know some of his timeline that I read up on recently and he never visited you again, I am sorry. I just want to make sure we don't rip a hole in the time space continuum."

"They had a good talk," They hear screams coming from a bit away.

"I am not getting involved in this." Brian walks into the house. Ace reaches for Graham's hand as they run towards the screams. Graham watches out for the bat as it swishes through the air as his stride matches up with Ace. After they fight off the monsters they find the motel that UNIT reserved for them to find out it's only one room with a single bed.

"I guess we will have to squeeze in tight tonight." Graham says.

"I don't care, how close we sleep together," with the waggle of her eyes she sets to change into some more sleep worthy clothes. Graham's mouth goes dry. "Do you need something to drink?"

"Yeah,'' he walks to the mini bar and takes out a water bottle and drinks half of it. Ace walks over to him with an extra sway of her hips. "You are trying to seduce me aren't you?"

"Yes, is it working?"

"It is." they come closer to each other.

..The Next morning….

Ace wakes up with a slight tickle to her spine with eyes still closed, "Will you stop that?"

"Stop what?" Graham fanning innocence.

''Running one finger up and down my spine, it tickles."

"Really," he says with a tint of his voice.

"Oh no you don't." Graham's finger starts to move faster along her spine as she starts to laugh, "Remember Graham all is fair in love and war." She moves so fast that he doesn't even realize when she starts to tickle him.

"Mercy, mercy," he says laughing looking up to see Ace's hair bathed in the early morning light he just stops and stares.

"What!?"

"You are gorgeous," he says, pushing a stray lock out of the way when a phone rings. Ace looks over to see it's her phone, reaching down and picks up a shirt that is a little long on her.

"Hello."

"Morning Ace, how was it?"

"Morning Tegan, how was what?"

"What Kate sent you on."

"It turned out to be two different tasks in one."

"What do you mean by that?"

"When we first got here we saw a version of The Doctor that had just lost two of his companions. After I talked to him, since he didn't know Graham yet, he left and then we had to fight off some Slitheen." Graham comes up behind her and kisses her neck.

"Do I hear some extra breathing?" Ace bats him away who just shoots her a smile.

"No you do not."

"Tell Graham I said hi, you two must be close to one another."

"Here I thought that getting away would help with less teasing for a day." Ace turns around as Graham starts to walk closer to her. She gives him a look and he just puts his hands up. She laughs at his antics

"What's so funny if you are not right next to Graham?"

"We are in the same room and he is being daft." Graham gives her a look and sticks his tongue out at her, she blows him a kiss and he tries to catch it falling on the bed.

"You two are insufferable."

"Like you and Nyssa were when you were just beginning. Oh yeah, The Doctor knows about the two of you."

"He must know about how all of his former companions' lives went."

"And one future slash past depending on how you look at Graham." Graham walks back up to Ace, "I got to go Tegan, give Nyssa my love we will be back later tonight." She doesn't give Tegan time to answer as she tosses the phone.

…That Night…

"Want to come in Graham," she asks, playing with his jacket.

"I probably shouldn't, I haven't slept in my flat for a few days now."

"Ok, I love you see you tomorrow at work," she kisses him.

"I love you too Ace," Ace turns around to see the curtains close quickly.

''I want those two to find their own place soon."

"I understand, want to give them something to watch?" He leans in to give her a longer kiss this time tongues are dueling when the need for breath becomes strong they separate. "Now how's that for a show?"

"Goodnight Graham," she shakes her head and walks in the door.

"Damn girl, that man must know how to kiss you."

"Hello to you too Tegan. Hi Nyssa, how did you two enjoy having K9 to yourself?"

"Don't change the subject," Tegan looks closely at Ace, "is that a hickey on your neck!?"

Ace rubs at the spot that Tegan pointed at. "What if it is, I was away with my boyfriend and what we needed to do only took a few hours, but we didn't want to drive home yet. UNIT had already paid for a room with one bed; the two of us decided to stay in it."

"You two are as bad as teenagers." Ace just stands there not denying it.

"Well, I didn't really have a teenage love. I had a few relationships." With that Ace walks off to go to bed. As she gets in the bed there is a knock on the door.

"Come in."

Tegan pokes her head in, "You know I didn't mean anything from what I said right?"

"Of course I do, I didn't take anything from it."

She sits in the bed, "You sure, what you said didn't seem like it."

"Tegan, I was also joking. I am in a good mood from my day trip with Graham and meeting The Doctor that few have said liked fezzes."

"How was it?"

"It was sad, he just lost two of his companions and I told him about timey wimey stuff."

"Like?"

"In 2022 he will need to leave his old umbrella here with a change of clothes for his future companion, and to tell his wife to go pick up Nyssa."

"You are the reason Nyssa is here then?"

"I guess," she shrugs, "he knew that she was to be with you though."

"He did?"

"He did, Tegan, we know he wants us to be happy. Sadly I think whenever someone leaves he isn't happy for a while. It seems it's been a bit since Amy and Rory have left him, but he couldn't even bring himself to tell Brian, who now lives in the same house that they once had." Nyssa comes in to see some solemn faces.

"What's wrong?"

"Just talking about how The Doctor is after companions leave him especially if they die."

"Oh," Nyssa leans against the door.

"Nyssa come here, there is room for one more. We all left him at one point to move on and to better our lives. He likes watching us soar in our lives." They just continue to sit there Nyssa trying her best not to think of Adric. "Nyssa, it's ok if you still miss him."

"I know; I just wish that I stayed where I was supposed to. I might have been able to help him. He was just a kid when he died." Both Tegan and Ace wrap her in their arms.

"I miss him too. It was one of the hardest things I had to do when I fought them again."

"Thank you for not letting me come with you."

"I knew that you wouldn't be able to see the Doctor again with everything the two of you went through."

"Like you were," Ace says accusingly, "you were rude to The Doctor when she first showed up."

"I was not."

"Ok more so Yaz, I had to inform you we weren't exactly like her."

"You were nearly smitten with her."

"I was not."

"Sure," with an eyebrow raised.

"Whatever." The three of the start to laugh at their antics in a way that those who have been good friends for ages can. Ace's phone alerts her to a text.

"We best be going to bed Ace, see you in the morning."

"Night, Nyssa, night Tegan."

"Goodnight Ace, see you at work, I love you." Ace decided to call him.

"Hello Graham."

"Hello Ace, how was your night?"

"It was good, just had a good laugh with Nyssa and Tegan. How about you, how was your night?"

"It was ok, tried to get into contact with Yaz."

"Oh, Graham, I am guessing you failed?"

"Horrible, I went straight to voicemail."

"I am so sorry, is there anything I can do?"

"I honestly don't know. Though talking to you is helping. I am worried about her. I hope she went to Shefeild to visit her family, so she isn't alone."

"Want me to call her?"

"I don't know."

"She'll come around, I know it."

"I hope so, she is a great person."

"I knew before she carried the Doctor across the Cyber planet. Graham, from what I know of Yaz she is strong."

"She is. Ace thank you, I just needed to talk."

"You can call me whenever."

"I know that now."

"Good. Graham as much as I want to keep talking to you all night, I should probably head to bed. I love you."

"I love you too Ace. Goodnight." They hang up and fall asleep.
