Anna woke up first, finding Matt still sleeping with steady breathing. She ran her fingers through her hair, trying to make a sense out of this. She saw Daredevil die in front of her eyes just 10 days ago. So how is this possible? If it wasn't him, then who was that man Dr. Moon killed in the bakery? She also saw Daredevil fight, she was around him long enough to know that he doesn't look like a blind man. But Matt, he's perfectly playing the blind man act, there's no way he can see. And according to Karen he is indeed medically blind. But they're the same for sure, no more doubt.

She stood up and walked to the bathroom to get the medical kit. She didn't mess with healing his other cuts and bruises, which he most likely had after an accident like this.

When she walked back he was still laying on his back, his eyes were open now, focusing somewhere on the ceiling. She sat down on the coffee table and dropped the kit next to her. She heard him swallow.

"I'm really sorry, Anna. Especially that you had to find it out this way." He said quietly. She rubbed her face, had no idea what question to ask first.

The silence was unbearable, and Matt tilted his head slightly on the pillow, trying to focus on her heartbeat and breathing to find out how angry she is.

"Please, stop reading me, Matt." She said after realizing what he's doing. She lowered herself on the floor next to him. "I'm not angry at you. At least not that much."

There was another head tilt, more like a surprised one.

"I'm disappointed though, that you didn't trust me enough with this. And confused about a lot of things."

"I was trying to protect you."

"I get that, really do. But were you planning to tell me at all, in the future maybe? What if we went out on that date? Maybe after that? Or... a year, or..."

"I'm sorry... I wanted to tell you, just..."

"And you pushed me away, excluded from your life, then asked me out, then sent me away again. Just to kiss me so passionately the following day."

"I'm really sorry."

"Why? Help me understand. Who are you really? Are you Matt, playing vigilante at night? Or are you Daredevil, playing a defenseless blind man during the day?"

When he didn't reply immediately, she answered her own question. "Or you don't even know anymore?"

He slowly sat up on the couch, feeling some dizziness still. Lowered his head and shook it slowly. "I have to protect the people I care about, Anna, by keeping them away. You are very important to me... I'm sorry I wasn't honest with you, but knowing this will put you in danger. It's not that I don't trust you, I wanted to save you from all of this, because you deserve better, a normal life. That night, when you... when you felt how deeply I care about you made me realize that we got too close to each other, too dangerously close. I didn't want you to get hurt, so I had to push you away, which was one of the hardest things in my life. But then that morning on this same couch your touch woke me up and I realized I just can't lose you, I just couldn't let that happen... even knowing how selfish that was from me. And the signs you gave me, that you actually want me were unbearable. Anna, you wanted me, the real me under that mask. I lost a fight with myself, and just couldn't help, I wanted to tell you how important you are to me, hold you and kiss you for so long and that moment I just... I lost control..."

"But then you realized your mistake and pushed me away again."

"It wasn't a mistake. It was what my heart always wanted, but also knew I don't deserve it. I hurt people at night... I'm a vigilante, not a hero who deserves redemption, nor someone like you."

"You are a hero, Matt. More than anybody. More than you think."

He made a weak smile.

She sighed, feeling still like dreaming, this meant she got back both men alive, and they're indeed the same.

"So, who else knows what you're doing at night? Foggy, Karen?"

"Nobody. Claire knows my face, but she doesn't know who I am."

Anna looked at him surprised, doing this all by himself, without having anyone to talk to, anyone to support him. She knew how hard it is, she's been like that with her secret. It's a cold lonely life.

"Fisk found out my identity, and we have an agreement on keeping it secret and he leaves my friends alone until I leave Vanessa alone. But he is dangerous, Anna. I tried pushing Foggy and Karen away several years ago, and I thought I did, but they stayed. Not even sure why... Now I have to protect them, and if Fisk finds out about you, you will be at risk as well."

"I've been in danger all in my life, one more or less doesn't matter. He can get in line." She said quietly and both went quiet.

"I want to know everything." She said after a long silence.

He nodded. "I want to tell you everything." He sighed. "I've been wanting to tell you everything for a long time."

"Are you really blind?" She spat out the first question bugging her mind.

"Yes, I can't see with my eyes if that's what you want to know. But there are other ways to see."

She narrowed her eyes and picked up the kit from the table. "So, what am I holding in my hand now?"

"The medical kit, what you brought out from the bathroom just a few minutes ago."

"Ok, this is weird..." She put the kit back down next to her. "So you can do all the things you told me about as Daredevil, hearing heart beats, voices from miles away, all the smells, the senses...? And you were able to do all those why you were with me as Matt...?"

"Yes, and I'm sorry for that."

"But... how?"

"Remember I told you I lost my sight in a car accident?" He asked.

"Yes, and I read an article about a kid saving a man's life, then having chemicals blinding him."

"Those chemicals, they enhanced my other senses." He explained. "First I didn't know how to fully control them, and I was afraid of telling about them to anyone. When my Dad died, it got much worse, I wasn't able to filter anything out, it was a complete mess. The nuns at the orphanage thought I'm crazy, so they brought in this guy to help. His name was Stick."

Anna was listening intensely to every word.

"He taught me how to use my abilities to my advantage, how to navigate in this world without seeing with my eyes. How to separate one distant conversation from all the rest, so it's not just a white noise. How to taste the food and pick out all the ingredients used in it. Not just smell things from the distance, but read people by their smells. I can tell what they touched before, even if only a tiny trail of scent left on their hand. I can tell about their emotional state, tell if they're telling me the truth or not, everything."

Anna shifted in her position, feeling uncomfortable and exposed all of a sudden.

"And where did you learn to fight like that?" She asked, really wanting to know everything.

"From Stick, as well. He was preparing me for this big war, I've never knew what it was exactly. He taught me how to use my abilities in fights. And taught me of a mixed sorta martial art, so I can be effective against any opponent."

"So, he raised you?"

Matt laughed miserably. "Oh, no, not at all. Turned out he wanted a soldier, a soldier without a soul or feelings. I wanted a dad, or at least a friend. Well, both of us got disappointed, and he left." He thinned his lips and lowered his face.

"I'm so sorry, Matt." She really felt for him, knowing from experience how hard it is for a kid to grow up without parents. "But I'm glad you have a soul." She added and reached out to touch his chin, so she can look into his eyes. She saw the pain in them and wished she could erase it somehow.

He made a weak smile. "It's been a long time, but still gets to me." He said with a frustrated laugh.

"Where do you keep it?"

"In that closet by the staircase." He pointed exactly at the direction of the closet doors and Anna rolled her eyes. It's so interesting to see him act like a person with sight. She walked up to open it. "It's in that old wooden chest." He said with a miserable laugh.

"Oh... the one I opened before... now I get it why you looked so... startled by it." She said while lowering herself on her knees and opening the lid. Matt was standing right behind her and removed the top compartment, revealing all Daredevil's clothes and equipments.

"Wow..." she traced her palm over them, and lifted the batons out, rolling them between her fingers. Seeing all this made everything so real. She knows this man for much longer than she met Matt Murdock. As she thought about it it's been 7 months now since they first met that night she found him dying in that back alley.

"So, how long you've been Daredevil?" She placed the sticks back in the chest and they walked to the couch.

"It's been several years now, around seven I believe, since college. I just had to do something, to help people. I tried ignoring the screams and cries, but after a while just couldn't look away anymore. That feeling, that I can help, but still sitting in my apartment doing nothing, it was just unbearable, if you know what I mean."

"I know exactly." Anna said and lowered her head. "When I lived in North Carolina, I couldn't stop myself helping people either, by healing them. But Dr. Moon's men found me. They didn't capture me, but I had to run away from Wilmington. But it kills me seeing the pain and doing nothing about it."

Matt leaned closer to her and reached out to touch her hand. "I have never had anyone who understood me like you do. Nor to talk about these things." He pulled her up closer to sit next to him.

"Well, I've never had anyone to talk with honestly, ever either." She looked at him, realizing she hasn't cleaned his wounds yet. "And I would really love to keep talking to you, but I won't be able to if you'll get some nasty infection from all the scratches on your body. I only healed the life threatening injuries, so let me take care of the rest."

"No, you don't have to, I will be fine." He started protesting, but Anna silenced him with one finger on his lips.

"No arguments. I'm gonna do it the old fashion way, too tired for a second round just yet." She smiled, then blushed red.

"I like when you're blushing." He smiled at her, and Anna froze.

"What? You know that I'm blushing?" She covered her face as the realization hit her. "You always knew it when I was blushing?" she squeaked in embarrassment.

"Sorry, I told you I'm good at reading people." He smirked.

"All right, just be careful. I have the disinfecting wipes!" She lifted the medical kit and shook it. "And I'm not afraid using them!"

Matt put his hands up in a defensive position. "Ok, ok, I stop now."

Anna smiled and took a wipe out to clean his forehead. There were multiple cuts there and some road rash on the side of his neck, so she wiped that clean as well. He didn't complain or made any moves. She placed a bandaid on one of the bigger cuts, then checked the back of his head, since he smashed it on the pavement when falling backwards. There was some blood, but the wound didn't need stitches, so she just disinfected it. Then moved her fingers to the buttons of his torn shirt and slowly undid them one by one.

She heard him taking a sharp breath in. "Is everything all right? Do you hurt?" She asked alarmed. "Broken ribs maybe?"

"No, it's not that. I think you healed those well. It's just... I don't think it's necessary to check there, really." He sounded very nervous, and Anna wasn't sure why.

"It's ok, I will be careful, it won't hurt. Trust me."

Matt laughed, he wasn't afraid of that. She undid the last button and carefully pulled his shirt apart, freeing his arms from the sleeves. Now it was her turn to take a sharp breath in.

"Jesus, Matt." Her eyes ran through the numerous cuts, bruises, scars on his body. She saw it now why he didn't want to go to the hospital as Matt Murdock, doctors would have questions about these old scars. Several of them looked like they were stitched up in a rush, possibly done by himself while was dizzy from blood loss, resulting in a very sloppy job. There were two large long cuts, still red, but started to heal, looked only a couple days old. There was the wound from the bullet that scraped his left side when he freed her from the laboratory, mostly healed. The deep cut on his left biceps he got in the sewer tunnel, still visible and wasn't stitched up properly. She found the ones she healed, they looked almost invisible next to the rest. This man went through a lot of pain and suffering. And all to help others, all unselfishness, asking nothing for return. She couldn't help herself, reached out with one hand and traced the scar on his collarbone with her fingertips. Matt shivered by the contact, and she heard his breathing change. She moved her hand down along his ab muscles to the large scar just under his ribs. "This looks only a few days old." She pulled her hand back, watching his face intensely. He furrowed his brows and his expression was ashamed. "I had no idea you were hurt. You were walking around like nothing happened." She wondered how often he does that, hiding his pain from everyone around him, acting like he's fine. She remembered she was watching him move after that bullet scraped his side because she was suspicious. That wound must have hurt like hell, but he walked completely pain free as Matt. That meant two things, he has tremendous amount of self control and high pain tolerance. "Promise me something?"

He tilted his head, then nodded.

"Promise you will never hide anything like this from me. You are not alone anymore, Matt. If you're injured, if you need to talk, if you're unsure about anything... I'm here. And I want to be here for you, as much as you are here for me."

Matt felt deeply touched. He didn't have to listen to her heartbeat to know she's completely honest, and meant it.

"So... this means you're not leaving me?"

She smiled. "I'm not going anywhere."

He's not alone anymore. He was sure she will just leave, he didn't expect any woman to accept him with all this. He's a vigilante, hunted by criminals and police, had lots of enemies. He started feeling emotional, tears threatening to come out, so took a deep breath in, and pulled her in his embrace. "You... you have no idea how long I've been waiting for you."

Anna put her hands around his neck and leaned into his body, letting her head rest on his chest. They stayed there for long minutes. It was perfect. Slowly she pulled away, took out a wipe from the medical kit and started cleaning his smaller cuts on his chest, with face blushing red. Despite all the scars his body looked extremely hot and she was sure he was aware of how loud her heart was pounding and how flushed her skin became. Which made her blush even more. He stayed very still, no complains or movements and she knew he's holding his breath. She put bandaids over the few days old two bigger cuts as well.

"All done." She whispered, and felt him finally moving and pulling her in for another hug. She rested her head on his chest again, listening to his heart beat for long minutes. It was fast and loud. She felt the heat from his bare skin, and couldn't help but placed a gentle kiss on it. His body shivered immediately, then carefully tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and moved his hand into her hair just behind her neck. She loved when he stroked this spot, it was so sensitive. He draw small circles there, waking up those butterflies in her stomach. She closed her eyes, the lust she felt just by being touched by him was almost unbearable. Slowly lifted her head and gently captured his lips with hers. A raw sound left his throat and his hands were guiding her closer for a much deeper kiss. She didn't resist, instead surprised him by climbing into his lap, legs apart on both of his sides. His hand moved down along her spine, creating sparks along the way, and she arched her back as the shiver ran through it. She sighed in pleasure, and her own fingers started exploring his bare chest, feeling like they're gonna burn from the heat radiating from him. His body felt strong and hard under her touch and she desperately wanted more of him. Matt traced his hands back on both of her sides, moving up to her shoulders by avoiding her breasts. She growled in frustration and squeezed her thighs around him. He smiled into her kiss, and touched her waistline on the sides, grabbing her there gently before brushing her thighs along on the outsides.

"You are beautiful." He said, and she realized he was mapping her to get a better picture of her body. She blushed and before she could do anything he bit her neck gently under her jaw. She moaned deep, feeling like loosing control over her voice and movements.

"Matt..." she breathed his name, which made him move his hands back to her hips and lifting her up like she weighed nothing. Anna crossed her legs around his waist while he walked her to the bedroom, avoiding every obstacles on the way. He laid her down on the bed, standing by the edge like a statue. Anna wanted him to move, climb on her so she can feel his body like in her dreams and desperately wanted him to continue what he was doing, being wild and passionate like that night when she was drugged, but she saw him hesitating.

"Matt... Please..." She said it, and something snapped in him, and she saw that same fire in his eyes she saw the other night. He kneeled down next to her on the bed, claiming her lips again with hunger this time. She made a deep noise and unintentionally lifted her hips to be closer to him. He pushed her down with one hand, holding it in place, while moving his lips painfully slow down along her neck. Anna felt like she's on fire, she wanted to get out of her clothes, otherwise she's gonna burn. But he stopped her hand when she tried to reach for her shirt, and instead his right hand wandered up from her hip to her abs, but freezing there. The tension in Anna was so tight, she thought she's gonna break into pieces, so arched her back this time, pushing her abdomen into his palm like a plea to keep going. His fingers dig into her skin through her shirt and his mouth was on hers again. He bit her lower lip, and she moved her hands back to his bare chest and traced her fingernails along his sides, exploring his lat muscles, as much as she could reach. She whimpered, desperately wanted him to be on top of her, feel the weight of that body of his, but he kept her pinned down with his right hand by her abs still, so she couldn't move. His lips were gone, and he slowly distanced himself from her. Anna's eyes popped open in confusion and frustration. What is he doing? Then he placed a gentle kiss on her lips, full of love and care.

"Good night, Anna." He said as stood up next to the bed. "I will be back in a few hours."

"What?" She had no idea what just happened. Did she do something wrong? Well, she hasn't been with a man in way too many years, but she can't be that horrible. She sat up on the bed and watched him walk to the living room. What did she do that turned him off so sudden? He has to go out, now? He was just hit by a freaking car, almost killing him! She was all confused, and felt her temper was rising so walked out to the doorway between the bedroom and living room.

He came out from the bathroom in all black except the mask. A shiver ran down her spine from the sight, making her speechless. Damn he looked good in that outfit. He walked up to her and placed a gentle kiss on the top of her head. "I need to take care of that Italian guy. Don't wait up for me."

She watched him putting on the mask and heading out through the roof access.

How am I supposed to sleep when you left me like this?

The next morning she woke up to the smell of coffee, and saw Matt in all lawyer clothes ready to leave.

She rushed out to the living room, remembering a pressing matter they needed to talk about. The bakery. She knew well that he's not immortal, couldn't forget about that his heart stopped under that pier. Which meant he wasn't there at the bakery. Then who was?

"Matt, can I talk to you before you leave? I think we have a problem."

He walked up to her, avoiding the coffee table and other objects precisely. He moved so different now that she knew his secret, she couldn't tell he is blind.

"What is it?" He asked, hearing her heart thundering under her chest.

"I watched you die... a week and some ago... Stabbed and then they cut your throat!" She poured the facts on him without any warning.

"What?"

"So.. It wasn't you at the bakery, right? The Daredevil they tortured and killed in front of me?"

His confused look answered her question. It wasn't him, it was someone else dressed in Daredevil's clothes.

"Oh my God, Matt!"

"Tell me what happened."

"I thought you were dead! I thought I lost both of you, then came home and you as Matt just walked through that door, proving that I was wrong and you are not Daredevil. And I was happy to have at least one man still alive who I care about deeply. But that didn't change the fact that they killed Daredevil." She was babbling fast.

"Wait, wait, wait... What? You knew I'm Daredevil? And who died? I had no idea what you went through there... I knew it was bad, all that blood I smelled on you... but you only told me you lost someone special that night..."

Anna was scratching her palm again, and tried slowing her breathing down and collect her thoughts to talk more clearly. "I just had a suspicion that you are him. I mean we've known each other for so long and I just... anyways, I wasn't hundred percent sure, a few things didn't add up. But the point is that Dr. Moon called me on your phone that day, showing that they have Daredevil captured and tortured. They wanted me to go there, kill an old man with my power, then go with them to the lab voluntarily, or they will kill you, I mean that Daredevil. But I... I messed it up..." her heart rate skyrocketed, and Matt pulled her down to the couch to sit.

"It's ok... what happened?" He asked gently.

"I... I just couldn't kill that old man, Matt... I'm so sorry... I... I was able to control my power and only made him pass out. I tried to whisper you that we need to fight, because I knew you would hear that but nobody else. Well, that Daredevil didn't hear it obviously, because when I turned to my guards to disarm them, that Daredevil still didn't move and Dr. Moon gave the order to his men to kill him, and..." she started crying and had to focus on silencing her sobs to be able to keep going. Matt placed his hand on top of hers.

"I watched as they drove a blade through Daredevil's heart and then sliced his neck." She forced it out between two sobs, her body was shivering now. Matt pulled her close trying to ease her pain. "I'm so sorry Matt... that man died because of me, because of my decision. And could have been really you. I thought he was you!"

"It's them who need to be sorry, you didn't do anything wrong. Forcing someone to chose between two lives is one of the most evil things someone can do. Why didn't you tell me what you went through there?"

"I just couldn't, I wouldn't tell anyone that I knew Daredevil."

"What happened after..?"

"I... I... I felt this anger and pain in me so badly... I wanted them to pay for what they've done to you... so I made them hurt. A lot... I... I poked their eyes, broke their arms, used my power on them, I did horrible things to them..." she looked down her hands ashamed. "But more came and one of them pushed that needle in me, and I thought it's sedative, so rushed back home, not wanting to pass out there." She made a big sigh. "I was ready to go back when you came home. I couldn't believe my eyes that you walked through that door alive, unharmed."

"Yeah, I remember, you 'looked' like someone seeing a ghost... So this means they're already trying to use Daredevil against you."

"Yes, and I wanted to tell you this, because I don't think they will stop."

Matt nodded. "I agree, we have to be very careful."

"Especially you, if you go out at night. Please, Matt. I'm worried they're trying to capture the real Daredevil this time."

"I will be careful, I promise."

She nodded, her eyes were still red. "I'm not sure who was that guy dressed as you... but now that I know he wasn't the real Daredevil I will do some research on missing people."

Matt nodded. "That's a good idea. But Anna... don't let the guilt and anger you're feeling control you. It's very dangerous, and can make you do things you will regret later and wish you'd never done them. Just be careful, because it can change you. You're not a killer, you didn't kill the old guy, but you also didn't kill that Daredevil either. Just remember that."

She swallowed, sounded like he's talking from experience. "Wish it would be that easy."

"It needs some time. Have you tried meditating? That usually helps me."

"No, I'm not sure if I could do that, it's hard to shut my mind off."

She lowered her head.

"Was everything ok last night?"

"Yes, I visited our guy, who wanted to hit you with a car, and made sure he leaves town this time. You're still not on Don Carlos's radar, this was just his personal action. But he's not gonna cause any more troubles."

"Good, I don't like the idea of you getting hit more than once. Thank you for taking care of that."

"Of course."

Anna hesitated for a second, knowing this question will be embarrassing. But she had to know.

"Is everything ok? Between us I mean..."

He furrowed his brows in confusion. "Yes, of course. Why do you think it's not?" He hold her hands in his. "It should be me who's asking that..." he lowered his gaze at her. "Are you sure you're ok with me being Daredevil?"

"Yes, of course." She said without hesitation. "It's not that... it's silly, never mind, just... just forget that I asked."

"Are you sure? You did sound worried." He 'watched' her with concerned look.

She felt so silly all of a sudden. She didn't have experience with reading men's intentions, so probably she was mistaken everything, and he possibly wasn't even thinking of sleeping with her last night. It's not like they were dating, or were they? She realized she had no idea what type of relationship they have right now, had no idea where he stands. Too much going on, she just learned about his secret, and things been happening fast, so she decided this probably wasn't the best time to discuss something like this.

"Yes, all good, and I'm glad everything is good on your side too."

"Ok. Please stay home this time." He gave her a small smile. "I need to rush now, but will call you later, ok?"

Anna nodded, not bothering to answer this time. "You know that I just nodded, right?" She said laughing.

He smirked. "Yes."

She started her day by checking the missing people's database on the Police's website. As she scrolled through the photos an older guy got her attention.

"Oh, no!" It was the guy who she was supposed to kill. She was wondering what Dr. Moon did to him after she left. Possibly killed him? Or maybe he's still alive and kept there as a hostage? She felt horrible not thinking of checking this website out sooner. She has to find him if he's still alive. She was considering to sneak into the lab and search for anything what would lead to the man's whereabouts, but then stopped herself. She needed to talk with Matt about this, she promised she won't leave the apartment this time, except for Fogwell's, and no more reckless missions. But what if the man was still alive? Being kept hostage and tortured?

"No, you have to stay put. You promised." She talked to herself loud to make a bigger impact on herself and don't do anything stupid.

As she was scrolling down the page there was another man in his thirties, well muscled, 5' 10" tall. She zoomed in, trying to imagine this guy in a mask, then decided he could be a possible candidate as the fake Daredevil. "This is all my fault!" She closed Matt's laptop forcefully, the guy's face burned into her eyes. Now she had a name to the dead man, which made it more real and more painful.

She felt angry at herself, so went down to the gym to let all her frustration out on the bag. Her, not thinking sooner of the possibility of the old man could be still alive and the fact that the fake Daredevil who died - called David - had a good and possibly happy life.

"Don't let your guilt and anger control you..." she yelled at herself through her teeth while punching the bag as hard as she could.

She didn't have any wraps or gloves, so after a good half an hour her knuckles started bleeding, so she switched to doing katas instead. She liked practicing them, it was like fighting with an imaginary opponent. As she slowly calmed down, her mind wandered to his secret, which wasn't a secret anymore. He was the same man she met seven months ago, the same one who risked his life multiple times for her, who died in her arms under the pier, who comforted her when she was scared, who showed her his true feelings when she healed him in Matt's apartment by the staircase, who searched for her and rescued her from the laboratory. But also the same one who pushed her away despite of his feelings, trying to keep her safe even if that hurt him. He was always trying to do what he thought was best for her, putting her safety above everything else. Those were all Matt, with all his passion, kindness, fearlessness, strength, stubbornness, and struggles. She knew now for sure that she loved him, all of him, and nobody else. He finally started to open up to her, but he still needed to figure out what he wanted, and she didn't want to push him or force him to do anything. Knowing his secret was a big deal and all new for both her and especially for him.

She was walking back through the alley when saw a familiar figure in the lobby of the apartment building, standing by the elevator, balancing a big box in one hand.

"Foggy?"

"Anna! Were you just sneaking out?" He rolled his eyes. "Should I tell Matt?"

"It's all good, he knows about it, I was just at Fogwell's around the corner from the alley. Nobody saw me."

"Fogwell's, huh?"

"Yeah, had to let out some frustration."

The elevator dinged and Foggy motioned her to go in first.

"I hope it's not Murdock who made you frustrated." He teased her, and she shook her head.

"Not at all. Oh, you're coming up? Matt isn't home."

"I'm here for you, and only you. With coffee and bagels."

Anna's eyes grew wide, and she smiled widely. "Well, come upstairs then."

"So Matt told me you are a little bit bored sitting around here all alone, and since he's with a client most of the day, Karen has to stay in the office, so I figured I drop in to be the entertainment for a few hours."

"Awww, thank you! I'm so happy you're here! Being a little bored is actually an understatement, I'm dying from boredom! I cleaned this place more times in the past few weeks than I cleaned my own apartment in 3 years."

"Matt must be happy about that."

"Oh, I'm not that sure. It's a little challenging to remember where things were after a while, and that's a tragedy for a blind man."

Foggy laughed. "He will adjust. Matt needs a woman in his life."

Anna turned the key in the lock, blushing on that sentence.

"Oh, I didn't mean to. I just figured you two are... you know?"

Anna blushed even more as they walked to the dining area, where Foggy placed the box on the table.

"I'm not really sure what we are actually. Never really named it, and things are a bit crazy lately."

They sat down and Anna grabbed the coffee and bit in an asiago bagel right away. "Sorry..." she apologized after noticing Foggy's look. "I'm starving."

"Jeez, I need to teach that man a few things. Leaving you here without food?"

"Oh, no. It's just the hunger after the workout." Anna protested, she didn't want to get Matt in any trouble.

"So, is my friend treating you all right?" He asked with one brow raised.

"Yes." She smiled honestly. "He is perfect actually."

"Lucky bastard. He always gets the pretty girls."

Now it was Anna's turn to raise an eyebrow. "Is that so? Did he... ugh.. had many of those?"

"Murdock?" Foggy laughed and sip from his coffee. "He had more girlfriends than I could count. Gorgeous ones. That blind puppy look, girls love it!"

Anna had no idea what was it, but she had this weird feeling twisting her heart. She never felt it before. Was this jealousy? Or just disappointment? Or those two mixed together? But of course it made perfect sense, he was Daredevil, hot and sexy. He had a huge fan group among women she knew that well. But Daredevil told her he doesn't do relationships. Then what was with all these girls Foggy's talking about?

Foggy noticed her whitening face. "Oh, I'm sorry, sometimes I don't have filters. But you don't have to worry. None of those lasted long, only a night or two..." he stopped, hesitating. "Well, except one, the Greek Goddess. But that was back in College, many years ago."

Anna started feeling like she's sinking. Great. She's falling for a guy who does not do real relationships only one night stands. Is that what this is gonna be? Her face turned completely white when realization hit her. Or not even that? This must be it, last night. All those gorgeous girls before, and he realized last night that she's nothing compared to them. He mapped her body and realized she's just not his type. Well, she was athletic and skinny, didn't have those nice curves. And her boobs were on the very small side. That's why he left, he doesn't even want a one night stand with her, not to mention a real relationship. Oh stop it! You always think of the worst. - she yelled at herself inside her head.

"Anna, are you ok?" Foggy started to worry about her white, motionless figure. "Maybe you're allergic to bagels?"

Anna shook her head to get the blood back in there. "No, no, no. I'm fine, Foggy. Just my mind wandered somewhere, sorry about that."

"Don't worry, I do that too when I think of Karen." He smiled.

"So..." Anna hesitated. "That Greek Goddess... how did she look like?"

"Oh, Elektra... well, she looked like a movie star, all perfect skin, hair, expensive perfume and nice makeup. Her dad owned this big company, and they had all the money they wanted. And you know those types of girls? They are very confident, know what they want, and can easily get into men's minds and pants to make them do what they want. And she loved trouble. She started guiding Matt to a complete different direction, he missed several of his classes and almost didn't finish College."

Anna felt that twist around her heart just got stronger. Elektra was her complete opposite, and that's the woman Matt loved? She felt the blood was draining from her again.

"Why did they break up?"

"I'm not exactly sure. Not even sure if they broke up at all, or she just had to leave town. Matt never talked about that night when she left." He went into deep thoughts. "But she came back just a few years ago."

Anna's heart rate jumped to high speed. He didn't mention it. Though she probably didn't know a lot of other personal things about him.

"So they started dating again?"

"No, well... I don't think so. She was here only for a few days as far as I know." Foggy regretted mentioning Elektra to her, she looked like she's going into cardiac arrest if they keep talking about this topic. "Look... she guided him to the wrong direction, I don't think she was the right fit for him honestly."

That made Anna feel a little better, but still there was the fact that his type of girls were exactly the ones she feared of.

"Oh, by the way! Please, convince Matt to get a dog." Foggy changed the subject.

"What?"

"He came in to the office this morning with a bandaid and some bruises on his face, again, poor thing walked into a streetlight post!"

"Oh..." a streetlight, of course. The picture of the SUV hitting Matt straight in the chest and making him fly several feet flashed into her mind. Must be so hard lying to his friends. Or maybe he got used to it after all these years...?

"Anyways..." Foggy started nervously, which was very unusual for him. "Since you haven't named the relationship between you two, I guess there is something going on. Do you like Matt?"

She looked into his eyes. "Yes, I do. And I care for him like nobody else before."

"Good. I know he cares about you a lot as well. He took it very hard when you disappeared, didn't sleep, and was worried all the time. He was even more distanced and quiet than usual. You are very important to him you know?"

Anna felt the warmth in her chest, and some guilt came up to the surface about the whole disappearing. She couldn't deny that he truly cares about her. She remembered that night when he showed up here at the rooftop with a deep cut in his thigh, bleeding out and forgetting to mask his feelings toward her. That deep care she felt when they connected was unimaginable and warmed her heart.

Foggy went straight to the office where Matt was just saying goodbye to his client.

"Is everything all right?" He asked his blonde friend who seemed nervous.

"Yeah, Anna is ok. I think..."

Matt raised an eyebrow. "You think?"

"We spent several hours chatting about random things, well, mostly about you. I don't believe you haven't made a step and told her how you feel yet!"

"Foggy, it's not that simple. She went through a lot lately, it wasn't the right time to talk about it."

"Yeah, yeah, she was also trying to make an excuse for you about things being crazy lately. But still... She is a very nice girl, you know that? Not someone who deserves her heart broken. And you also deserve to be happy, you just have to let it happen. Push away that Catholic guilt of yours and enjoy life a little. But not the way you usually do... you know what I mean..."

Matt knew exactly that he's referring to his so called one night stands. "Look, Foggy. I'm not playing games on her. Actually I'm more serious about this than anything else before."

Foggy's mouth grew into a big smile. "I'm glad to hear that. Because you're definitely changed since she is with you, in a positive way. And I like this new Matt, less moody and more happy."

He let out a nervous laugh, he was too feeling different since Anna, especially now that she accepted his secret.

"I actually have a big favor to ask."

"I'm all ears!" Foggy said excitement on his face.

"Can I have your parents restaurant for Friday night? After they closed."

"Aha! Like a secret date?!" He stepped closer. "Of course! Let me give them a quick call!"

Anna locked the door behind Foggy after he left. It was already late afternoon, they have been chatting for a while.

Now that she was alone her mind started shifting to the beautiful girls with Matt, seeing them all gorgeous, nicely dressed with salon hairs, nails and makeup. She looked into the mirror and growled. Yes, he was blind, but according to Foggy he still was able to tell which girl was hot, and which one wasn't. He's Daredevil with all super senses after all. She turned away from her own reflection, tired of watching it and decided to take a shower instead since she hadn't had a chance after the gym. Plus her head was going to explode if she thinks more about this. Matt said no relationships, but possibly these one night stands didn't count as relationships. Of course not, because they're not. Maybe he's still doing it? It's not like they're together and he had to answer her, he's free to sleep with anyone. Her heart twisted, so jumped into the shower, couldn't shut her mind off. She was always insecure when it came to men and relationships. The hot water felt great and she was humming a song pretty loud to clear her head from those previous thoughts. As she calmed down a little she got to the conclusion of whatever relationship they had right now it didn't matter, she just wanted to enjoy it no matter what and not overthink it. After a while she turned the water off and stepped out. Without bothering to put clothes on, she just wrapped the towel around her body and still singing a sad melody walked out from the bathroom. Just to find herself face to face with Matt with an amused expression on his face, standing there in the middle of the living room.

"Shit!" She jumped when saw him, hands over her heart. "Please stop doing this, showing up unannounced. You freaked the heck out of me!"

He just laughed, then slowly went all quiet. He scanned her with his senses, realizing what she was wearing, or actually what not wearing. He gulped.

Anna realized it as well, and her hands moved from her heart to cross around her towel wrapped body, to hide it as much as possible, feeling naked and exposed suddenly.

"Shit." Her face turned red. "I make a hard guess that you can tell that I'm standing here naked in a towel...?" She asked, voice higher pitched than usual.

He nodded, but didn't move.

"I'll be back." She didn't waste any time, turned around and ran to the bedroom, closing the sliding door behind her just out of habit, not that it mattered in this particular case.

She covered her face in embarrassment, and jumped when heard the knocking on the bedroom door.

"I was wondering..." came from Matt from the other side of the door. "Maybe you want to put on something warm?"

Anna turned around confused, facing the still closed door. Matt continued. "We could go for a walk on the rooftops. It's already dark outside."

"That would be great!" She replied with excitement, but still a little embarrassed about her lack of clothes and singing skills. At least he didn't see her dancing. Some fresh air sounded awesome right now. "Give me five minutes!"

When Anna stepped out to the living room, she saw Matt already wearing a change of clothes as well. Black cargo pants with tactical belt and his batons strapped to his leg, boots, gloves, and the usual tight black shirt, holding his mask in his hands. "This way I can protect you easier if needed. But I will make sure we won't encounter anyone tonight." He smiled and Anna felt the excitement washing over her seeing him like this.

They walked up to the roof and he reached out for her hand after putting his mask on. She smiled wide, blushing slightly while interlocking her fingers into his. It felt like in the old days when Daredevil walked her home after her night shifts, and the memory warmed her heart.

The weather was a bit chilly, but at least no wind.

"Let's go this way, less jumpy." He smirked and Anna shook her head in disbelief, laughing.

"So when you come out at night, do you have a planned destination, or route already?"

"Not always, mostly I just head out to that building... It's called the Orion building, and it's the tallest one in Hell's Kitchen." he pointed toward a tall one not too far away. "I can hear more from high up there, and just wait until someone cries for help, or gunshots, knife noises, sirens, anything suspicious."

"I bet the view is also pretty from there. Can we go up now?"

"If you'd like. There's no easy route there, but I think you can manage it."

Anna smiled. "I trust you."

They got to the top of the neighboring building and Matt walked her to the connecting wall with a downspout. "We can climb up on this, you go first and I can help from the bottom."

"Haha... so this is your way to check out my butt?" She laughed, and Matt's lips turned into a smile as well.

"I have a pretty close picture of it already, but never hurt to make it clearer."

"I knew it!" She smiled wide and started climbing. It wasn't a high climb, but she was glad he was right there below her in case she loses her grip. After they reached the top of the downspout, she was relieved to see there's a ladder leading from this level to a suspended scaffold what the window cleaners use. It was way easier to climb up on that one and ride on it to the very top.

She looked around, taking the beautiful view of the lit up city in.

"It's amazing, I wish you could see it!"

Matt smiled, enjoying her happiness. "I think I do, just reading your emotions now."

Anna faced him and stepped closer, lifting up to her toes and kissing him on the lips a little nervously.

"What?" He asked after a few seconds, breaking their kiss.

Anna blushed. "It's just... so many times I was dreaming about kissing you like this, even before I knew who you are." She laughed slightly in embarrassment.

"Hmmm... So who's kissing better? Me or that Matt guy?"

Anna smirked. "Let me see again..." and with that she kissed him again, deeper and longer this time, running her fingers up on his strong arms. He pulled her to his body and they stayed there in each other's embrace for a while.

Her eyes wandered around the city again, seeing the lights reflecting on the Hudson in the distance. "I think I like this place." She said and Matt placed a kiss on the top of her head and removed his mask.

"Do you have any plans for Friday night?" He asked her while they walked to the edge for her to see better.

She laughed, what plans could she possibly have? "No, not really. Why?"

"I was hoping we could go out for dinner? Since we didn't have the chance last time."

She looked up at his face. "Like a date?"

"Exactly like a real date." He smiled at her.

"So... this means you got over your struggles?" She asked carefully, wanting to make sure he's serious about this.

"Yes. I'm completely serious."

She smiled with heart pounding in her chest.

"I would love that." She said, blushing. "And I promise you I will show up this time."

He tensed up and tilted his head. Anna first thought her disappearance was still a very sensitive topic, but then she realized he's listening to something else.

"Go." She said and Matt turned toward her hesitating. "Go!" She yelled this time. "I will be fine. I stay right here, promise. Now go!" She gave him a slight push. "I'm completely aware of what I signed up for with you and accept you with everything. I know this is what you do, and don't want to be in the way. It's the opposite. I want to support you. So go!"

"But seriously, stay here, don't go anywhere, and stay away from the edge."

"I promise." She crossed her heart, and he put his mask back on and jumped down to the deep darkness. Anna carefully looked down, seeing nothing, but was pretty sure he knew where he was jumping to. She walked to the other side to see the East side of Manhattan, identifying buildings in the distance, like the Rockefeller Center and the Empire State Building. It wasn't long, maybe twenty minutes when he jumped across to her rooftop from somewhere else, giving her the usual heart attack.

"Sorry." He apologized immediately.

"Not a problem, you just do what you need to do. Is everything ok?"

"Yeah, it was a mugging." He didn't elaborate it and they sat down by the parapet, leaning into it with their backs.

"I found the old guy they wanted me to kill in the missing people's database. He's still missing."

"You think they killed him too?" He asked carefully.

"Possibly, but what if they're keeping him hostage to use him as a Guinea pig again?"

Matt rubbed his gloved hands over her arm. "There's a possibility for that. Easier than finding yet another person for their next plan. And I'm sure Dr. Moon hasn't given up testing your power on others. I can check out the laboratory to see if there are any leads there. Karen also has a list of some of their buildings in the city, can go search those as well."

"I would like to go with you." Anna said.

"I don't think that's a good idea."

"But I'm the one who can identify that man!"

"Anna, there's no need for that. If I find anyone there, I'll save them. It doesn't matter who is that."

"I just feel bad leaving all the work to you. I'm not afraid of them anymore."

He smiled at her and stood up, and she followed suit. "I noticed that. You seemed different a few nights ago in the alley. You disarmed that rapist quickly without any fear."

She crunched her hands. "Matt, we need to start trusting each other. It's my fault what happened to that guy, I want to help. I could've just gone there by myself and being reckless again, but decided to tell you this instead. No more lies or secrets. Please, this is very important to me. The fake Daredevil - David - died because of my decision, and I'm the reason for his death. I rather not add another person to that list. You told me I need to overcome my guilt and anger, and this will help I know it. Have you ever felt like you're responsible for someone's death?"

He sighed, he knew that feeling exactly. "Yes, several times."

"And what would you do if there was a slight chance you could save one of them?"

He stepped closer and hold her hands, lips forced together. He was really worried of her getting hurt.

"Please?" She begged.

After a short silence he took a deep breath in and let it out slowly. "Ok, but you can't leave my side and will do what I say. Deal?"

She narrowed her eyes. "And you're not gonna ask me to wait outside of the building, right?"

He shook his head with a miserable laugh. "I promise I won't do that."

"Then deal." She reached her hand out and he grabbed it and shook it.

"Then let's go."

"Now?" She asked surprised, then laughed. "Let's go!"

They quickly scanned through the laboratory, finding nobody there late night like this except the two security guys. Then they stopped at their law office for Karen's list of the buildings and Anna read the addresses of all five of them to Matt, and they started searching through them. It was 2am when they got to the third building, which was an old warehouse in the industrial district.

Matt grabbed Anna's hand, pulling her back to cover. "There are four men outside of the entrance, just around this corner." He whispered to her, and she nodded. Finally, not an empty building like the rest were so far.

"I go to the other side." She said and ran around the block, waiting for Daredevil's signal. He jumped down from the roof, landing on top of one of the guys. Anna had no idea how he got up there in the first place, then how he was able to survive a jump from up high like that, so just shook her head in disbelief while running up to one of the guys to help him out. Daredevil finished with three men by the time she knocked her one opponent out.

"Damn, you're good." She told him with a big smile and he smirked at her.

"There's nobody on the other side of the door, let's go." He said and Anna handed him the key she took away from her now unconscious opponent.

The warehouse was full with large cardboard boxes piled up almost to the ceiling, standing on pallets and secured by plastic wraps around them.

"Wonder what they keep in these boxes..." she whispered mostly just to herself.

"Medicines and medical equipments. Nothing illegal." Daredevil said confidently.

She huffed and just smiled at him amazed.

He stopped her again, pulling behind one of the large boxes. "Stay here, there at least a dozen coming this way."

"Hell no! You promised me."

He rubbed his jaws with his hand. "Ok, then go around and attack them from the back. But be very careful. Here." He handed her the batons, but Anna just lifted her hands up, shaking them.

"I have my weapon with me, and it's completely under my control."

"Ok then, let's do this before they find the ones by the entrance and call for reinforcements."

He was all business, so she nodded and ran around the boxes. Just a second later she heard punches flying and she moved closer as well to jump on one of the men in the back. Things got crazy from here, she has never faced twelve trained men before, and though most of them were attacking Daredevil, a few noticed her in the back, so she was fighting with three guys at once. She was trying to peak at Matt time to time how he's doing, but all she saw was him still fighting and moving incredibly fast. She was happy for taking practice more seriously lately, because she needed every little ounce of it. Grabbed the arms of her opponents to force pain in them for a few seconds, just enough to make them vulnerable for her punches. She definitely needed her powers, because these men were big and trained. Eventually she finished with her three enemies, collecting some bruises where she missed blocking their attacks, and looked at Matt who was fighting with four still. His punches were precise and fast, and he used one man's body to push him to his team member, both of them losing their balance and landing on the floor while Daredevil turned to the other two. Then her eyes moved to the one who was standing a few feet from them, probably just arrived, his gun was out and aiming at the masked man. She didn't hesitate, ran up from behind, pushing his arm up with two hands, making the bullet hit the ceiling. With a swift move, she landed a punch on his exposed ribs high up under his armpit to the sensitive spot. He jerked and she twisted the gun out from his hand, and knocking him out on the head with the handgun's grip. As she turned around she saw Daredevil was just finishing up with his last opponent, punching him in the face while kicking his supporting leg out from underneath, making him fall on the ground, so he can knock him unconscious. Then he turned to her direction fast, alarmed.

"Anna!" He yelled and she saw him launching toward her and wanted to ask what was wrong when she felt a sharp pain in her upper back. She reached back to pull out a dart from her shoulder as Daredevil ran up to the shooter to disarm him. She narrowed her eyes as her vision slowly became blurry, then heard the masked man was punching and yelling at the guy, questioning him what was in the dart. She saw his face turned bloody as Matt kept hitting him and her tummy turned as memories from the bakery flashed back.

"It's just sedative..." she whispered, not able to speak louder. Then his shoulder was under her arm, supporting her. She laughed weakly. "It's nice you're carrying me this time for a change."

"You're ok?" He asked, and Anna nodded.

"Yeah, just feeling a little sleepy."

"The guy said it was really just sedative, they have an order not to kill you."

"How lucky I am..." She was babbling a little uncoordinated.

"Are you ok to walk? There's a room over there." He said and she nodded. He walked her a few steps around the boxes, where was indeed a closed door.

She forced her eyes open with hope that they'll find the old man alive. But instead reaching for the door knob Matt suddenly grabbed her around her waist and pulled her back to his chest, hiding behind the boxes.

"Shhh..." he said, and she felt the shiver running down her spine from the contact of his strong chest against her back, and she wet her lips as his breath tickled the skin on her neck. Daredevil smiled, he loved how sensitive she was, and placed a kiss in the crook of her neck, biting in it gently with his teeth, making her moan quietly and feeling fully awake now. "Stay here." He whispered to her ear.

A man walked out from the room, and Anna felt cold as the masked man's body disappeared from her back, and in a few seconds he finished the man. She slowly walked out from the hiding spot, tracing her hand over the boxes for support. Her eyes shifted to the now unconscious guy on the floor. "Do you think he's here?" She asked nervously.

"Someone is in there for sure, adult, man, his heartbeat tells me he's scared. Definitely not one of the soldiers."

Her eyes brightened and opened the door. The relief washed over her as she recognized the man she tortured. He was alive.

"It's him." She said and she felt a strong arm around her body as everything went black and her eyelids closed.

She woke up in the bed the next morning, all covered up with the blanket. Her shoes, socks, sweater and hoodie were off, placed by the armchair and as she sat up she noticed her belt disappeared as well. He left her jeans and t-shirt on her. Matt walked in with a coffee and a plate with a taco on it in his hands and sat down next to her.

"How do you feel?"

"Like someone had a full night sleep. That sedative was good." She smiled at him, but he thinned his lips with guilty expression.

She put the plate on her lap and sip from the coffee, thinking if she ever had anyone bringing breakfast to bed. Nope, never before. She eyed the taco, it wasn't from a restaurant. He cooked and made it for her. "Thank you, this is very sweet of you."

"I'm sorry, Anna."

"Don't be, it wasn't your fault. Plus, I got to carried home in the arms of Daredevil as a perk." She smiled at him. "A lot of girls would envy me."

"It could have been a real gun."

"But it wasn't, remember what the guy said? They won't kill me, now we know. And we saved that man. So please, no self torture. I'm glad they didn't shoot you with that dart, because I wouldn't be able to carry you home." She smiled, but saw his still guilty expression, so added. "And if you didn't take me with you, you would have definitely been the one got shot and sedated."

He let out the air he was holding. "I hope you're not planning to do this often though."

"Definitely not. I'm not Daredevil." She gave him a reassuring smile this time. "Life isn't always chaotic like this around me."

The edge of his lips turned upward. "Like when isn't it?"

She thought about it for a second, frozen. "Like... when I'm asleep?"

He laughed, and she laughed with him. It was good to see him finally relax.

"How many bruises did you get last night?"

"Maybe two." He said, thinking. "At least what I'm feeling right now. You?"

"At least four, or maybe five." She laughed. "I need to learn how to force pain on my enemies faster, like in a second."

"I can help you practice that."

"No way I would do that to you. It's not pleasant, trust me."

"But can potentially save your life in the future. Worth it."

"Definitely not." She said, knowing that she would never take him up on an offer like this. "I really liked the walk though, maybe we can do that part again sometime?"

"I would like that." He laughed again, tilting his head high up.

The next day was pretty much the same routine for her during the day, but eventually the afternoon came and she was excited about seeing Matt soon. Her phone rang loudly, showing Karen's name on the screen.

"Hi Karen, is everything all right?" She asked with a slight worry in her voice.

"Hi Anna, yes, absolutely! Matt and Foggy just went to meet their last client for today, he's disabled and wasn't able to come to our office. So I'm just sitting here, and thought I give you a call because I heard about your dinner date Friday night!"

Anna blushed, couldn't mask her excitement. "Yes, I can't wait, have no idea what Matt has in mind, since my situation right now... it's not easy to go anywhere."

"Oh, don't worry about that! I'm just really happy for you guys."

"Thank you, Karen."

"Maybe if you want to talk, or have questions, I just wanted you to know that I'm here."

Anna actually had several questions, but most of them fell into the 18 plus category. "Yeah, actually that would be great."

"Great! So how about if I stop by tomorrow morning for some girls talk with a dress you could wear for the date?"

Anna's eyes widened. "Really? That would be a huge help. I promise I take good care of it and give it back afterwards."

"Sounds good, see you tomorrow then!"

She barely hung up when heard the door opening.

"I thought you are with your client." She smiled at Matt, who raised an eyebrow. "Karen told me, don't worry, I haven't developed super hearing yet."

"Oh. Yeah, we met him, talked a bit, then Foggy said he will take his case, so I came home. I'm sure he just wanted me to be with you sooner, which I appreciate."

"Seems like they're both very supportive of us." She blushed.

"Yes, they are... They are good friends and they like you a lot."

He lowered himself next to her, giving her a kiss and Anna moved closer to him. All she wanted to do was cuddle here with him all evening, so leaned her head on his shoulder and Matt immediately hugged her to his body. She made a big satisfied sigh. To her luck Matt loved cuddling, and they didn't leave until bedtime.

Karen came over around 11am when she had some break at the office. She brought coffee and a bag with her.

"Matt told me how you like your coffee, so I hope you will like this one."

She sipped in it. "Perfect, thank you!" They both sat down on the couch.

"This place looks even cleaner than a few days ago, l like what you did with that shelf too." Karen looked around.

"Oh yeah, don't even mention it, one of my time killing activities." Anna laughed, and now that she knew about Matt's secret she was able to actually reorganize some things.

"It will be over soon, and you can go outside safely, I'm sure of that."

"Yeah, I'm not complaining, I feel so lucky to have you guys around, especially Matt." She blushed as usual just for mentioning his name.

"You really like him, don't you?"

"Yes, more than anything."

"I hope he's not gonna screw this up. I don't think he has much experience with real relationships, maybe he will need some guidance from you time to time. And patience." Karen said with a smile.

"That's what I heard from Foggy too." Anna's stomach twisted thinking about those other girls with Matt. "But he's really nice to me, and we're just getting to know each other, so will see how it goes." She drank some more from her coffee. "Plus to be honest I don't have too much experience with real relationships either."

"Because of Dr. Moon?"

"Yeah... So you're together with Foggy for two years now?"

"Yep. He's great, I really love him. We started getting closer to each other a few months after Matt broke up with me."

Anna raised an eyebrow. "I didn't know you two were together."

"Well, not really. We went out on one date and thought we had something common, but then he distanced himself for some reason. He wasn't able to open up to me completely. It was around the time when Elektra came back."

"Oh..." Anna felt the now familiar jealousy over Elektra washing over her.

"Anyways, don't worry about me and him, we're just friends. I just wasn't sure he mentioned it to you or not, and figured it's better if you know, so it won't be awkward if it comes up one day. Matt is very nice and kind, and always ready to help people. And seems like you two understand each other quite well, and I'm so happy."

Anna smiled. "How long do you know Matt?"

"I was their first client, right after they opened their law firm. So it's been almost seven years."

"Wow, that's a long time."

Karen reached for the bag. "I brought two different dresses, hope one of them will work." She pulled out a dark blue one with flowers on it and a gray one, much tighter fit. "This gray one is very short and would show your body better, but wasn't sure if you like that, so brought this other one too, a bit longer."

"Thank you, let me try them on!" She rushed to the bedroom and put on the blue one first. "This looks so nice!" She walked out and spun around.

"I agree! It's modest, would work on the first date."

Anna went back to put on the tighter dress, having some difficulties figuring out how exactly it needed to be put on. Karen walked in since she was taking too much time. "Need help?"

Anna jumped and turned around facing her, covering her chest with her arms, but she wasn't fast enough.

"Oh my God, what happened to your back?" She walked up and turned her around, revealing an old long horizontal scar on her lower back, close to her waistline.

"Just an accident."

"They did this to you, didn't they? Dr. Moon..."

"No... it's... I'm sorry you saw that... I know it's ugly." Anna started backing up, but Karen pushed her arms away from her chest. Under her bra there was another cut, and a bit lower through the middle of her chest a smaller, but fresh one from a few weeks ago.

Karen's anger started rising. "We will catch those bastards, they can't get away with something like this."

"No, please... you don't understand how dangerous these guys are. Please, don't do anything." Anna begged, seriously worried that she's gonna get into trouble because of her. Matt mentioned how committed she was pursuing a case. "They watch everything, hide their secrets well, and they will come after you if they find out you are looking into them."

"Don't worry about me, I will be fine, we will do this together, using the law as usual."

Anna let out a big breath, she screwed this up big time. Karen isn't going to stop, she knew that well from Matt.

She called Matt the second Karen left the apartment.

"Hey, I'm so sorry, I think Karen is going to do something dangerous, please watch out for her. We talked and she got very upset about Dr. Moon, she really wants to take him down. I'm so sorry, I know you warned me this could happen and I really tried to convince her it's not worth it. I'm really sorry. She rushed out fast, not sure where she went."

"Ok, calm down. I'm glad you called. Just stay there, I'll find her and talk to her." With that he hung up, hearing Karen's footsteps from the far distance approaching. At least she's coming back to the office, good. He thought.

"Hey Matt... can I talk to you?" She asked right away as she stepped in to the reception area, pulling him by his wrist straight to his office, then shutting the door behind them.

"Of course, what happened? You look very upset."

Karen paced around in the middle of his office in small circles and Matt just leaned back to his desk. "I... I don't know how to say this nicely..." She crossed her arms. "Those scientists, they tortured Anna badly, she has old and new scars on her back and chest, big ones. And who knows where else. We need to do something, we can't let them get away with something like this."

Matt felt the blood draining from his head, he knew they did experiments on her, but had no idea she had scars like that. He felt an old small one close to the new cut when he stitched her up, but didn't know there were more.

"We will, trust me, there's no one who wants them behind bars more than I do. Just not yet, we need a plan, need to find evidence without them noticing we're digging. They can't find Anna, and if they'll notice we're digging they will know we're helping her and she's with us. As we suspect the person who approved this whole project is someone high up. We need to be very smart here, ok?"

Karen nodded. "Ok, ok... don't worry, I won't do anything stupid this time, I learned my lesson in the past. I'm not planning on marching into their laboratory and ask questions. But I can't just sit around either. I have to do something!"

"Understood. Let's start with some computer work, newspapers, articles, anything we could find online public. Let me know if you find anything and then I will look into things deeper. Just be careful."

Karen nodded. "Ok, I already have ideas where to search!" She jumped up and rushed to her computer. "I also have the files I found when she went missing and we were looking for her, I will go through those again as well."

Matt wiped his forehead with his palm, this hopefully will give them some time, but he definitely needed to keep an eye on her, and come up with a plan soon what to do with the doctor and his team.

This was a lighter themed chapter, leading up to more action soon in the following ones. The next chapter is almost finished, so hopefully can post it in a few days.
