It feels like the entire nation is frozen right now. Kaz isn't a big fan of it, his hands buried in his pockets as he frowns out at the ice-coated world past their window. And it would be going on for the next three days. He sighs as Daniels walks up behind him, two mugs of hot cocoa in hand. "Well, guess we'll just have to make the most of it," he says, looking over Kaz' shoulder at the winter storm steadily worsening before their very eyes.

"Yeah, guess so," Kaz says, wandering past him for a moment, grabbing a couple of candy cane sticks and dropping them into the mugs along all of the marshmallows. They move away from the windows and closer to the fireplace, settling in on the couch to stay warm, watching the creamy white of the peppermint drift into the cocoa.

"You still really hate cold weather, huh," Daniels asks with a soft laugh, sipping from his mug.

"Don't act like you suddenly love it," Kaz scoffs, still stirring his drink. "I could barely convince you to make this trip, and that was before we knew about the turn the weather was going to take."

"True," Daniels concedes, lips twitching up into a smirk. "But it's fun to rile you up."

Kaz rolls his eyes at him and finally takes a sip from his mug, content to be distracted by the mess that's brewing outside. "So, three days at least snowed in here. What are we going to do?"

Daniels' smirk grows. "I'm sure we can think of a few things," he says with a chuckle that sends a not entirely negative shiver up Kaz's spine.

"Hm, yeah, probably," Kaz says. "Especially if the power goes out."

Daniels chuckles harder. "Yeah. Definitely." He casts a curious glance towards Kaz over the rim of his mug. "Should we get something to eat first, just in case?"

Kaz peers once more towards the window before nodding. "Yeah, guess we should. Just in case." He huffs as he stands, loath to move from the comfortable couch, but he makes do as Daniels follows him into the other room and they start volleying back ideas of what to make, and what would be best to make later on in their stay here. After deciding on pasta and grilled chicken, Daniels has moved to prepare the stove, Kaz working on getting the chicken seasoned, when he glances out at the blustering snow once more.

It's still a little frightening, watching it blow in such thick waves, over neighboring roofs and around every visible surface, but Kaz feels pretty stable with Daniels within touching distance, so Kaz merely smiles and turns his focus back onto the meat before him.
