The next day came quickly. He was soon back in his coffin, more determined than ever to get to the bottom of it all.

The stars twinkled effortlessly among a sea of blacks and blues above them. Dio woke to find the sea had gone. He lay on his back in an endless grassy field. He looked cowardly up into the abyss before him. He'd never had this dream before. His dreams were few and far between and when he did get a dream, it was always one he'd had before.

He looked over. Lying next to him was Jonathan. He two was on his back, but he admired a clear starry sky, not a black pool of dread. He wasn't as clear as he was before, his head being the only main thing Dio could make out in detail.

Dio said nothing. He lay with Jojo for a while. Looking aimlessly around the sea of stars for something to keep him occupied.

"The stars are beautiful, aren't they?" Jojo smiled as he admired the glimmering lights.

"Really?" Dio scowled; sarcasm evermore evident.

But Jonathan noticed not his annoyance. "Yes, look over there! At those two!" he pointed childishly to two stars next to each other. They were unusually closer than most.

"What about them?" The two stars flickered in his memory. Dio swore he'd seen those two before.

"They shine so much brighter than the rest. Don't you think?"

"Not really."

"That one looks kinda blue. And that one is really yellow. I think there's some green in there too."

Dio studied the stars Jojo was so eager about. He saw those colours too. The glinting yellow and green in one of them. And the other, it was rather blue for a star.

"Shouldn't all stars be yellow or even white?" Dio turned to Jojo, his face being the only part of him that wasn't blurred.

"I guess, but the stars can be whatever colour they want. Right?"

"They aren't born that colour?"

"Even if they where born that colour, they could make the most of it. Or even change what colour they where over time. To be a colour they wanted to be. They don't have to stay the colour they're born as."

"You didn't have to stay a gentleman, but you did."

"Was I still a gentleman? Or even did I become a gentleman at all? I thought going through all of that would change me. Maybe even-"

"You never changed; never slipped into the dark." Dio muttered to himself. Diverting his gaze from Jonathan to the sky.

"What do you mean?" Jonathan turned to him. A loving smile of bliss and ignorance; the clearest thing Dio had seen in this blurry haze.

"So, stars don't have to stay the colour they were born as? So why am I still the same colour? If I was a star?" The two stars now had company of five more stars as the night rolled further on. Each shining their unique colours to the onlookers below. "What am I even saying?"

"Maybe that was the colour you wanted to stay as? Or maybe your colours did change? You just didn't know it?"

"Huh, sure."

"You're a star, like me. Stars shine no matter what. Even if their colours are blurry or changing. Even if they don't change at all. They still shine. They still have something to say."

Dio lay silent. Jojo's words making barely any sense to being completely comprehensible. Like his ears only heard what they wanted.

"You said you wanted to achieve heaven. I don't know what that means but maybe one day you'll get it. I may not understand why you want it but you'll find it. You always get what you want after all. Even if it is-"Jojo lost his words, recalling Dio's various crimes still fogging his memory.

Dio looked over to him cautiously. Why would he ask that? How did he know? Why would he-

"It's ok if you don't want to tell me anything. You have your reasons."

"Maybe being the most powerful thing in existence-"

Jonathan sat up. His worried face growing prominent in Dio's view.

"-would mena-" Dio paused. He turned to Jonathan's worry. "-would mean getting whatever I wanted without limitations. Without hassle. Wouldn't you want that? Everything you want in your lap at a simple command?" He blinked. Jonathan was gone. Leaving Dio alone to wade in his power.

He sat up; heart racing. Maybe being a god would grant him that power?

"Your colours did change."

Dio's eyes slowly focused on the dulled room around him. The soft blue bathed everything. The moon was full and on display through the open gap in his curtains. It had surrounded itself with six large stars. Each with their own cluster of smaller stars. Each a different but distinct colour none the less.

It fascinated him. A long-forgotten wonder crossed his world.

"So they're the stars I need to look at."

"
