Who We Are
Luz falls to the ground, blacking out instantly. Everyone charges towards Belos to fight back while Amity runs to Luz. Kneeling beside her, she tries her best to use what she's learned from Emira to heal her.
As Amity heals Luz, she checks for a pulse. She's still alive but just barely, so she quickly seals up the wound with healing magic. It's scary, all around her everyone's fighting Belos, but Amity stays strong. She's going to do everything she can to keep Luz alive.
"Luz, please wake up. This isn't over and we need you. I need you. Please…" Amity said.
Suddenly, The Collector shows up. Floating next to Amity and looking at Luz with a curious yet sad expression.
"We were going to play together forever, she promised. Is Luz going to be okay?" The Collector asked.
Amity tries to focus on helping Luz, but knowing The Collector seems to care about her could be useful.
"I hope so. I'm doing my best to heal her, but it doesn't look good." Amity replied.
The Collector looks around, watching as everyone fights against Belos. A storm of anger and tears avenging the one person who helped each and every one of them find themselves.
"It's him isn't it. Belos is the source of all of your problems. I can fix that." The Collector said.
Amity looks at The Collector confused. Then watches with fear as they speed towards Belos in a flash.
In an instant, The Collector's face to face with Belos, looking angrier than ever. Everyone stops fighting as Belos stands there terrified, trying to think his way out of this.
"Collector, I can help you. Look at all of them, trying to destroy your game you've worked so hard to build. Help me fight back and I'll help you keep this new world you've created." Belos said.
The Collector thinks about this. They know they can't trust Belos, but Luz did try to take them away from their Owl House game. Knowing this, they can't help but wonder if they're just the pawn in everyone else's games.
"No. I'm not falling for your tricks again, Belos. It's time for you to go, for real this time." The Collector said.
Belos tries to run, but The Collector pulls him back with a twirl of their hand. Then, they boop him again, but this time Belos explodes from the inside out in a colorful ray of light, turning into a pile of stardust that swiftly blows away in the wind.
Everyone stares at The Collector, terrified as they turn around and look at them with that innocent yet unsettling smile.
"Well, that was easy. Now the question is…What to do with all of you?" The Collector asked.
Everyone just watches, knowing The Collector's all powerful and the only way they're going to get through to them is by talking. Something Luz would be great at, but she's out cold, so it's up to them.
"Collector, I know you've got your mind set on continuing this game or taking Luz, but what if there's another option? You have the choice to stop these games. I know change is hard, but it might lead to something better." Amity said.
Everyone else starts to chime in, adding their own perspectives.
Hunter stands up and walks to Amity's side, sadly looking down at Luz for a moment. Then he looks up at The Collector.
"Amity's right. I get it. You're alone and desperate to find a sense of belonging, so you distract yourself with games and that gives you a false sense of control. Let it go. It's not worth it." Hunter said.
Willow joins them, taking Hunter's hand, proud of him.
"Yeah, I get it too. I used to think getting revenge on the people who hurt me was the answer, but it's not. All that leads to is self destruction, a lonely path that you don't want to go down." Willow said.
Gus joins in, adding his own perspective.
"I agree. I used to get stuck in my own head and that led to my illusion magic getting out of control. I ended up hurting everyone around me, but I've learned to be more self aware. It also helps to have friends who will always stick by you, no matter what." Gus said.
Eda, Lilith, Raine, King, and Camila all join in proudly. They can tell how much everyone has grown and hope it's enough to get through to this all powerful chaotic child from the stars.
Suddenly, Luz wakes up, her vision blurry, her head pounding. The sharp pain in her chest is still intense but slowly fading. She looks around and sees her friends and family all gathered around her, tearful but relieved.
"Luz, you're okay!" Amity said.
Luz smiles and slowly sits up. She's exhausted, but glad to see everyone's okay. Then she looks to The Collector who's floating above them all. She can see they're feeling conflicted, so she tries to help.
"Collector, are you okay?" Luz asked.
The Collector's taken aback by this. Luz is the one who's hurt, yet she's asking if they're okay. It's an act of kindness that they've never been shown. It feels different.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking things through. Luz, do you still want to come with me or did you just make that deal to save everyone?" The Collector asked.
Luz stands up with Amity by her side helping her. She feels like she's going to pass out again, but she holds her ground, carefully thinking about how she'll respond. Then, it comes to her.
"I'll be honest, I did make that deal to save everyone. But now I see that you're just a lonely and lost child who's been used as a pawn in other people's selfish games. You don't deserve to be treated that way, no one does." Luz said.
Hearing this, The Collector starts to feel seen. They knew there was a reason why they connected with Luz and that's something they've never had. A friend. Luz gets that and she's not going to abandon them like everyone else in their life.
"Okay, I'm ready. Let's go." Luz said.
Amity hugs Luz and everyone else joins in. It's a tearful goodbye and, although Luz was prepared to make this choice, it doesn't make it any easier.
"Goodbye everyone, I love you and I'll miss you so much." Luz said.
Seeing this, The Collector can't help but feel envious and sad.
Luz looks up at The Collector, sad but ready to be taken away.
As Luz starts walking towards them, The Collector stops her.
"Wait. The deal's off and the games over. I'm not going to take you away from your family and friends just so I won't be alone anymore. I'm sorry everyone, I'll just leave so I don't keep ruining lives." The Collector said.
Everyone stands there, surprised but relieved.
Luz watches as The Collector starts leaving. She turns to Eda, hoping for some advice.
"You know what you've gotta do." Eda said.
Luz nods, determined. She gathers all the strength she has to walk towards The Collector. Amity tries to help, but Luz stops her. She needs to do this on her own.
"Collector, wait! You don't have to leave. I know how you feel. You're lost, alone, and have been hurt too many times. You're an outcast who most people don't understand, but I understand. All of us here understand what it's like to be different. You're not alone. And us weirdos have to stick together." Luz said.
Luz reaches out her hand. The Collector turns around to face her and they take Luz's hand.
"Who are you calling a weirdo? Haha, just kidding! I get what you mean. Thanks." The Collector replied.
Luz smiles and gives The Collector a hug. They're surprised at first, but hug her back, feeling less alone.
Luz walks back to everyone else with The Collector by her side. Everyone's a bit nervous, but they trust Luz knows what she's doing.
"Everyone, meet The Collector. Don't worry, they're with us now." Luz said.
Suddenly, Luz feels that sharp pain in her chest again, her wound isn't fully healed.
The Collector notices and tries to help.
"Here, let me fix that for you." The Collector said.
Suddenly, Luz sees a bright blue light coming from her stab wound and slowly starts to feel better. Then the light fades into a faint scar, barely visible.
Luz smiles, feeling reenergized, almost like her old self again.
"Wow, thank you!" Luz said.
"No problem. Now, I'm going to go meet everyone else. See you later!" The Collector replied.
Luz waves as The Collector leaves to go join the group.
Amity stands by Luz's side, taking her hand.
"Quick turn around for that Collector kid, huh?" Amity asked.
Luz smiles, knowing from experience The Collector's journey is just beginning.
"Yeah, but I think it's a step in the right direction. Change is hard, but at least they know they're not alone." Luz replied.
