December 25: "Christmas, in three parts" (from sirensbane)

Thank you everyone for the kind reviews and well-wishes in the past week! I'm feeling much better and hope to catch back up again before the end. Hope you enjoy this little foray into silly poetry!

Part 1

'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the flat,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a gnat;
The Slipper was flung by the chimney, just there,
In hopes that S. Holmes would soon smoke in his chair.

Good Hudson and Watson turned in for the night,
And Basil and Dawson were as snug as you like.
But Holmes the detective would not go to sleep,
There was thinking to do, and the thinking was deep.

Then out on the street there arose such a clatter,
He sprang from the chair to see what was the matter.
Away to the window he flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash!

Part 2

Dashing through the snow,
It's a two-horse covered cab
M. Holmes arrives below,
In weather cold and drab.
The doorbell need not ring;
Sherlock is at the door
He lets his brother in:
"Hush! My housemates snore!"

"Oh, Sherlock Holmes, brother dear,
A case has come my way
Oh, tragic news has come to me
And I suspect foul play!"

"Oh, Mycroft Holmes, brother mine,
Not one moment to lose
I shall grab my coat and hat
Now don't take off your shoes!"

(Jingle Bells)

Part 3

You know Sherlock and Mycroft and Wiggins and Watson
Basil and Dawson and good Mrs. Hudson,
But do you recall...
A mystery just did befall!

Sherlock, the great detective
Solved a case on Christmas Eve!
A killer was put in prison, and
His housemates never heard him leave!

Mycroft, his older brother
Returned home, at last carefree.
Sherlock, the great detective
Slept as tight as he could be!

Holmes in bed on Christmas day,
Watson came to peep
"Wake up, my friend, it's gifting time!"
But Holmes is fast asleep!

Then how they celebrated
As they drank champagne and tea
Sherlock, the great detective
You'll go down in history!
