"I have terrible news, Dawson," reported Basil, dashing into their little home. "Mrs. Hudson has acquired a cat."
The little mouse's complexion paled, and he set down the sandwich he had been eating. "Oh, dear."
"Fortunately," Basil continued, hanging up his hat and taking up his pipe, "I deduce she will not keep him long. Mrs. Turner's daughter has been begging for a cat, and it's only a matter of time before the creature is out of our hair."
