Chapter 2

In the mists, Piper was preparing a meal when the glass container shattered and fell to the floor. As a result, it startled her. It had to be that dish, of all the ones she had. The family inheritance passed down throughout the generations of Halliwells.

The kitchen doors ajar, and marched in two guests.

"Mom, you okay?" Melinda asked her mother, as she noticed the mess.

"Yeah. Just pist! That plate was a family heirloom that can not be rebuilt!"

"Oh! Gram's rose crystal bowl?"

"Yes."

"Oh, no!" Melinda muttered, as she pushed Dean out of the kitchen.

"Hey!"

Melinda might not have any powers, but her mother did. When Piper is infuriated, well she can be the most dangerous and the scariest woman.

The sound from the entrance opening caught their attention. It was Leo who had come to know why his wife had screamed.

"What happened?"

Piper points at the broken crystal ware and sighs. Next, she reached behind the wooden frame to retrieve the broom.

"Oh! The family rose crystal. Don't want to be in the room when Penny finds out!" Leo rejoined.

"Ha-ha! Could you please help me?"

"Sure, but why didn't you just freeze it?" Leo probed, curiously.

"It happened too fast!"

Suddenly, something hit Piper, which made her thundered out.

"Wait a minute! Hold up, young lady! Who is that behind you?!" The fiery Charmed one exhorted, as she lifted her body up from being bent over.

All the blood in Melinda's face drained, as she knew what would come after. At this time, Leo had swept the remaining demolished glass and put it in the trash can. Last, he took the bag outside.

"This is Dean," Melinda announced.

"Dean Winchester." Dean cited, as he held out his hand and introduced himself. When nothing happened, he placed his hands in his pockets.

"Mom, he's a hunter!" Wyatt informed his mother, as he came out of nowhere.

"WYATT!" Melinda yelled at her older brother.

"I think I've heard of you. Your father is John Winchester. Mothers name is Mary. And you have a younger brother, Sam. Right?" Piper concluded.

"That would be correct," Dean affirmed.

Piper had indeed heard of them, anger flowed in her. How dare her daughter bring this venator into their home.

"You brought the most treacherous personnel into our house? Melinda, do you realize what this man and his family can do to us? They don't set exceptions with witches, not even good ones."

"Mom, please just listen!" Melinda pleaded, as she saw what her mothers intentions were.

Piper held up her hand and got ready to launch an attack.

"MOM, STOP!"

Piper faced her daughter and assented.

"Mom! Dean and I are in the middle of a hunt. We're... Um...Helping one another."

"Uh-huh!" Melinda's mother remarked, not believing her daughter's words.

"We are. And I'm always careful."

Piper let out a laugh and voiced the following.

"Yeah. If hunters worked with witches that means they only want one thing!"

Dean chuckled at that and when he saw the mothers expression, he quickly turned away.

"Oh! That's disgusting. I don't think so! You are not doing such a thing with a vile being that only wants to end you!"

"What? No, mom it's not like that! I know it's been years since I've lived here and after what happened..." Melinda exhibited between breaths and collected herself and ensuingly added. "I'm not a child anymore!"

"Hunting with the likes of him, though?" Piper quizzed in distaste.

"Yeah, so?!"

Leo mosey in after disposing of the bag to the outside trash cans.

"What's going on?" He quizzed and felt the tension in the room.

"Our daughter brought an assassin into our home and now she is on a so-called hunt with him." Piper stated.

"And mom is overreacting."

"Melinda, please! This is serious!" Her father cautioned.

"Dad! It's like I told mom! We both are after the same fiend. Why not work together?"

"Working with this brute will lead to your downfall!" Wyatt blurted out.

"Wyatt?!" Melinda warned.

"Look, I don't like it, but if you trust him. Then, all right. Just don't cry to me when it blows up in your face." Piper indicated.

Dean wanted to shout out that he was right there in the room. Despite that, he knew it wasn't wise, since the mother and son could do a lot of damage to his body. So, he kept his trap buttoned.

Wyatt interrupts with. " Mom, I was against this, but I know innocents come first and he was also hurt."

"In a blue light appeared and next vanished, Chris joined in.

"What's going on? I heard that Melinda yelling and-"

"Leo fill him in. You two follow me!" Piper instructed

"Check the book of shadows?" Melinda corroborated.

Melinda's mother shoo her away from the kitchen, to head up to the attic.

"The book of what?" Dean inquired, befuddled.

"Dean, you coming?" Melinda challenged, as she noticed he was still standing at the foot of the stairs.

"Oh, right!" He announced and made his way up the steps.

Once inside the untidy area, Dean jumped lightly at the view of the book that magically revealed itself. The pages went in different directions, until it halted. This reaction that Dean made Piper snickered. The book sensed Dean was good, which Piper was relieved for.

An hour had passed and Melinda could not find the creature that Dean and her crossed paths with.

"It's not here! Nothing!"

"Try and think back. Remember what you saw. Go through every aspect," Piper suggested.

"Well...Human appearance, ruthless...Black eyes and apparel. Sassy attitude."

"Sounds like the demons I've dealt with," Dean advocated.

"I've dealt with demons before. But! Not like this! Are they easy to get rid of ?" Melinda requested.

"Depends," Dean put forth.

"Can your demons change their eye colors?"

"What do you mean?"

"Well, the one I saw the other night had black eyes. Later on, the one that was there the first night we met, its eyes were red."

"No, that just means there's more than one. And it looks like a cross road demon has surfaced for its bounty."

"Bounty?"

"They only come here if the soul is ready to be collected when the ten years are up, along with the hellhounds," Dean alleged. Thereupon, he query. "Has any one here made any deals?"

"What? No! Mom?"

"Of course not!"

"What do we do now?"

"The important question is, can it be stopped?" Piper beseech.

"Yes."

"Of course you know." Piper commented, sarcastically.

With that, an awkward silence visited them. The atmosphere was very uncomfortable towards Melinda and Dean.

To ease up the tension, Dean strode over to Melinda. Who was back focusing on the book in front of her. He nudged her with a note and whispered.

"Here... I'm going to check something out. I'll keep in touch."

In response, Melinda nodded and carefully clutched the piece of paper. Then, she watched him leave the room.

An hour later, the house phone began to ring. In a rapid maneuver, Melinda went to pick up the receiver.

"Who is that?"

"Dean." Melinda responded, as she placed her hand on the mouthpiece to riposte her mother.

"How did he-? Nevermind!" Piper conveyed.

Melinda ignored her mothers words, as she concentrated on the other line.

"What? And you're sure? Oh, okay. Yeah, I can do that." Melinda answered and ended the call.

"What was the quester wanting?" Piper inquisitioned.

"MOM!"

"What?"

"He wants to meet him at P3."

"Oh, why my bar? It's not opened and if he think-"

"Mom, he wants us all to come."

"Why all of us?"

"Dean found information about the creature's wants us all to sit down and examine the facts, for future reference."

"And he's certain it's his type of "demon," because?"

"Because it's a monster he's come across, hunted and killed."

Once Piper, Wyatt and Melinda had settled into the bar stool. Dean brought out a couple of files that had the same details that they had been tracking. Melinda read the bold letters, as she analyzed the material and spoke of what they were dealing with.

"So, it's your kind of demon?" Melinda mentioned.

"Yes."

"We have demons and they-" Piper implored, but ceased mid sentence. Due to the fact that Melinda presented her the paper. Hence, Piper scanned the sheet, too.

"I honestly think that the demon will come back here."

"Be back?"

"I believe he's been stalking Piper's bar for victims, to get their souls." Dean propounded.

"What?!" Piper spouted in confusion.

"That's obscure!" Wyatt called out.

All of the sudden, his phone went off and afterwards excusing himself.

Dean showed her a picture and there was the same hellion he and Melinda saw. Directly, as Melinda saw it, she replied with.

"That's him!"

"I thought so!" Dean complied.

"That bastard!" Piper thundered out.

At that moment, Dean's cell phone went off. He glanced at the group and verbalized.

"Excuse me. I need to take this. I might have to leave."

"Sure."

The clatter from the entry, notified them that the older Winchester brother had left.

Soon after, Melinda had gone back to her former home in which her mother set foot in the household, too. Piper witnessed her daughter go up the stairs.

"Where are you going?"

"Going to check on something."

After the countless flipping pages, Melinda expressed the aggravation by slamming the book closed. Piper eyed her daughter and walked further into the room.

"We all have those days," Piper asserted.

Melinda looked up from her mom's assertion.

"Yeah, I guess. Although, recently it seems like it's a repeat! Why are they different types of monsters?!"

Piper took a seat on the worn out couch and motioned for her daughter to do the same. In doing so, Melinda obliged her mother's request.

"I am baffled just as you are. However, we need to have patience, things will get better!"

"So, you have said many times before."

"And have I been wrong?"

"No, it's just! I-" Melinda uttered and rapidly her cheeks reddened.

Piper caught that small blush and a smile widened upon her face.

"What?" Melinda questioned.

Piper giggled lightly and quizzed the following.

"Why do you have to be like your Aunt and like the bad boys?!"

"Which aunt?" Melinda pressed, sarcastically.

"Good point! Please! Just be careful!" Piper advised.

"I will."

More to come.
