Chapter 6

"I'll let you two be," Piper commented, as she left the area.

"I–Why-" Dean stuttered, but couldn't muster up the words.

"Dean, I can't have kids, because according to the doctor I have too much scarring."

"Oh! Sorry about that."

"It's not your fault."

"Still interested in helping us with this case?"

"Yeah. Hey, I'll give you a call, okay? I gotta go and check on something." Melinda put forth, as she glanced at her phone.

"Sure."

Few days passed, Dean and Sam were befuddled on this investigation. However, Dean pursued his baby brother to stay, regardless of the sudden dead end. He pointed out to him that he had a feeling that Melinda might need their help. Sam agreed reluctantly to his big brother's wish.

"Here again, Dean?" Piper asked.

"Yeah. I do admit this place is great!"

"Thanks." Piper riposte and added. "She won't be here."

"I know. I told her if she wanted to help us in this case, she was welcome to."

"Oh, well that's nice. I think?"

Suddenly, Wyatt marched towards them and his mother saw the expression he displayed.

"Wyatt, what's wrong?" Piper beseech.

"Mom, I think you need to come with me!"

"What?"

"Mel is-"

"Say nor more!" Piper responded, as she rushed to her oldest son.

"I'm coming, too!" Dean instructed.

"If you must."

"WYATT!"

Piper grabbed Dean's hand and Wyatt took hers. In a swift blue light, they vanished from that spot to another direction. The scene they came to was a fighting one, with Melinda involved. It was cleared that the hellion was winning. Wyatt made an explosion occur, not before the evil being pushed her into the fire.

"NOO!'" Piper and Dean both yelled out and ran towards her.

Wyatt was the first one to get to her, though. He scooped up Melinda's motionless body and murmured. "I am so sorry sis! I got you!"

Immediately, Wyatt orbs her to the hospital, while Dean and Piper fight off the creature. After the foul pest was disposed of, the two made their way to the healing clinic.

Melinda opened her groggy eyes. All she recollected was this nasty essence aggravated her to fight. In addition, there was some kind of heat and smoke. To the prior she read this vermin didn't have that type of power!

'Great, there's someone more powerful in the mists!' Melinda pondered.

She refocused at the sight in front of her. Melinda comprehended that she was in a hospital. At that moment, she quickly raised up.

"What happened? Where-"

"Shh! You exhausted yourself and had to be admitted," Piper stated in a hush tone.

Five days later, Melinda was at home and feeling much better than before. She guessed that by now Dean was working on this occurrence by asking people around those abnormal questions. In doing so, Melinda had gone to the magic school to get some studying done. She had to be prepared! Unexpectedly, Melinda turned from what she was doing, for she heard a noise.

"Mom? How did you get here? And why?" Melinda inquired.

"I came to check on you!"

"Mom, I'm fine! How are you going to get back?"

"Wyatt."

"Oh! Well, how about we try something?"Melinda suggested.

"What did you have in mind?"

Piper and Melinda emerged and acknowledged Dean had been waiting for their arrival.

"WOAH! That spell still needs some adjusting." Piper informed her daughter.

"Yeah. It was still awesome though!"

"Where have you guys been?" Dean questioned.

"Magic school."

"Magic school?" Dean quizzed, confusedly

"Yes, it's a dwelling where witches of any gender can strengthen their craft." Melinda answered.

"But I thought-"

"How come someone like myself, visit such a venue?" Melinda implied.

"No, no, it's not that! I just didn't think such a place existed?"

"Hate to break it to you, but it does." Piper established.

A couple more days went by. The vile sustenance that had been lurking here, was in fact a wicked entity that escaped from the Winchester's side of town. The three rode the black beauty to the monster's location. Instantly, they saw him. Sam retrieved the demon blade and handed it to Melinda.

Sam and Dean went to distract the fiend, with his full attention on them. Melinda jabbed the fake human form. A red streak of lightning occurred in the brute, followed by its nonexistence.

"Take that!" Melinda exclaimed.

Directly, the three went back to the Impala and put their equipment in the trunk. Then, they climbed into the sable sedan.

The drive home was endless silence, as Dean and Melinda would peeked at one another. No words were spoken, until they had arrived at their destination; the manor.

"Well…we're here!" Dean verbalized.

"Hey guys, you want a beer? Or water?" Melinda offered.

"Beer." The Winchester brothers said in unison.

The three strolled into the creaking house. The two males followed Melinda's path into the kitchen. Whereas, she reached into the fridge and picked up two cold beers and handed to them.

"Thanks!" Dean replied.

"Thank you!" Sam cited.

An hour tick on, as the three discussed all the contentions they had been on, especially this one.

The laughter of the good memories could be heard throughout the house, as it would bounce consistently.

By and by it was time for the Winchesters to leave. After this was announced, Melinda walked Dean and Sam outside. Deep down, she knew it was time to say goodbye. To put it off, Melinda jested.

"See? Working with witches isn't that bad!"

Dean nodded in agreement, while Sam uttered and also suggested.

"Yeah. It was nice to meet you, Melinda. Anytime you need us, call!"

With that, Sam made his way to the car.

The quietness lingered between Dean and Melinda. Neither one wanted to say those dreadful and hurtful words. Finally, Dean spoke them.

"You… This would have never worked out. You deserve much more than I can give you. It's been proven to me by not lacking in trying that setting down isn't my thing."

"You're right. And besides, long distance relationships don't last anyways." Melinda pointed out.

In return, Dean nodded, while Melinda placed a strand of hair behind her ear.

At that instant, he bent in and gave her one endurable long and meaningful kiss. When it ended, she opened her eyes to look at him. To remember his appearance forever.

"I will not forget you, Dean Winchester!"

"And I won't forget you, either!" Dean conveyed, as he positioned his head on top of hers, savoring the moment.

Dean and Melinda both kept on delaying his departure. Eventually, he whispered the following.

"I gotta go."

"I know. I-" Melinda stammered.

"I know…Like Sam mentioned, if you need help, call us."

"I will."

Melinda watched, as Dean entered inside the ebony 1967 Chevy Impala.

"That is one nice car!"

"Ain't she tho!"

Dean's assertion made Melinda giggled. The two only stared at one another, until Dean had to put the car in a different gear. Thereupon, the trance was broken and only she remained her sights on him.

'Goodbye my flannel knight!' Melinda thought to herself, as the view of them faded away from her. To never to be seen again.
