I have decided I am going to write a story for every day leading up to Christmas. They will be in various fandoms, and posted as different stories, not one story with multiple chapters.
-Look Who's Under the Mistletoe-
"Was this really a good idea?" Eric whispered, leaning towards Nell.
"Stop being such a wuss." She shot back, not looking at him. "This was as much your idea as it was the rest of ours."
Eric shook his head and looked back to the big screen at the front of the ops center, which was showing the security camera over the bullpen. Sam and Callen were currently trying to hang a sprig of mistletoe in the doorway from the tunnel.
Callen was up on a step ladder, using twine to attach the plant to the doorframe. Hetty had warned them that if they used tape or anything that could damage the wall, it would be their heads on the line. Hetty had also not told them to not do this, so how bad could it really be?
Sam, meanwhile, was keeping watch in case Kensi or Deeks got back to the Mission before Callen was done.
Nell sighed, she wished she could have some popcorn to watch what was bound to happen, but she didn't want Hetty to kill her, so she suffered in silence.
"There!" Callen exclaimed in excitement as he tied a final knot in the twine and jumped down from the step ladder.
"Perfect." Sam smiled and clapped Callen on his back before they both hurried up the stairs to the ops center.
The pair rushed into the room just in time to see Kensi and Deeks enter the bullpen. Though the security camera could not quite hear what they were saying yet, it was clear they were arguing about something, even if it didn't look too serious.
Nell grinned as they saw Hetty waylay the pair in the doorway.
"Mr. Deeks," she started, "Thank you for the lovely box of Vahdam India tea, though I'm not sure what the reason for which it was given."
"Oh, uh, hi, Hetty." Deeks seemed to panic.
"Probably didn't think he'd need to talk to Hetty this soon." Callen laughed at Deeks.
"This'll be good." Sam muttered, watching the younger detective stutter.
"Yeah, um, they were to thank you for inviting me to Thanksgiving at your house."
Hetty gave him her signature grin, and nodded. "I see," she said before turning and walking towards her office, away from the camera's view.
Kensi promptly hit Deeks in the shoulder, "You idiot, I told you not to lie to Hetty, just tell her you broke her teacup. Besides, why did you think getting her tea would help the matter? If anything it will make her realize it sooner rather than later." She hissed.
Deeks rubbed his shoulder, "What she doesn't know won't hurt her."
Kensi threw her head back in exasperation, but stopped when her eyes caught sight of the sprig of the mistletoe.
"Deeks." She whispered, and he followed her gaze upwards.
His eyes widened, "Oh."
Kensi finally tore her eyes away from the mistletoe, and glanced around the room. "Well, it is tradition, Deeks." She said when she had seemingly decided that none of their team would see them.
"I suppose so." Deeks answered with a coy smile as he pulled her close and brought their faces together.
Nell pumped her fist in the air, "YES! You owe me $10 each! I told you they would honor tradition!"
Sam and Callen sighed and dug into their wallets for the cash right away, while Eric continued to watch the screen.
"Guys, they're still going." He said, shock evident in his voice.
The other three in the ops center snapped back to the screen to see the pair downstairs indeed, still kissing.
Nell began smiling as she got an idea, "Let's drop something on them." she suggested with an air of mischief in her voice.
"Don't we still have water balloons in the upper janitor's closet?" Eric asked, "we could drop a water balloon on them."
Finally, after almost a half minute, and before the tech wizards could get the water balloon ready, the pair broke apart.
They laid their foreheads together for a second and smiled, before pulling apart and walking to their respective desks and sat down.
"Well, should we go down?" Callen asked, looking over at Sam, who was still in shock it seemed from the younger partners kissing.
Sam shook himself, coming back to the present. "I didn't think they would actually kiss," he muttered as he followed Callen downstairs, Eric and Nell following as well.
Sam and Callen took their own desks and watched in silence as Kensi and Deeks worked on their computers.
Eric was the first to break, "So, Kensi, how has your morning been going?
Kensi glanced up from her desk, her eyes narrowing at Eric, "My morning has been pretty good. What about you?"
Eric's grin almost split his face in half, while Nell laughed behind him.
Deeks now looked up too, "Is there something you want to tell us, Eric?"
"How was your morning, Deeks?" Eric turned the question on him, still smiling.
Deeks was the one to figure it out, though.
"You guys were the ones that put the mistletoe up, weren't you?" he asked, looking between Eric, Nell, Sam, and Callen.
Kensi's eyes widened as she realized what Deeks already had: they had been set up. "Who's idea was it?" she asked.
"Mine, Nell said, "you guys won me $30!"
Kensi sighed, but she could not be too mad when Nell was so excited. However, she could be a little annoyed with Eric for helping Nell pull it off.
"I'm assuming you put the mistletoe up, Eric?" she asked.
"No, he was up in ops with me, trying to convince me this was a bad idea." Nell put in, "Sam and Callen put it up."
The pair in question, who had been doing their own work glanced up and sighed.
"Did you really need to tell them, Nell?" Sam asked, "I thought you said we would be anonymous."
"Sorry," she said, "I didn't want Eric to get blamed for something he didn't do."
While they were arguing, Kensi and Deeks had gotten up to go elsewhere, but were stopped when they went under the mistletoe again.
"Hey," Nell called, "look up."
The pair did that, and sighed
"Not again," muttered Deeks, even as he pulled Kensi close once more for a kiss.
