The Island Swim
Back at Camp Rosewood the very next morning dawned bright and sunny as Hikari turned the radio on her boombox on so that she, Carole, Miranda, and Lisa could listen to the weather report.
"For today's forecast, nice and sunny," the meteorologist announced. "perfect for a canoe race or a swim in the lake!"
Hikari turned the radio off.
"Yoshi! We will be able to take our island swim in order to get certified today!" Hikari exclaimed.
"Here's the plan," Carole said. "we'll meet the rest of our fellow campers in the canteen, then, we'll come back here and change into our swim gear for our certification test."
"Right!" Miranda, Lisa, and Hikari agreed.
After changing for the canoe ride and island swim, Lisa, Miranda, Hikari, and Carole met up with Ken at Lake Rosewood.
Another room of Doe Cabin girls had finished their swim.
"Yes," Lorna exclaimed. "my bunk mates and I rule!"
"I'm not going to let Lorna and her goon squad intimidate me," Hikari said to Ken. "I'm ready, willing, and able to hit the water!"
"That's the spirit!" Ken exclaimed.
Hikari dove into the lake as Lisa, Carole, and Miranda climbed into the canoe and paddled after her.
As she swam, Hikari pictured the loving smile of her younger twin brother staring back at her from the island.
Hikari then swam back to the dock thus earning herself and her bunkmates their certificates.
