Sweets And Letters

The next morning dawned with bright sunshine as Hikari awoke, dressed quietly, and climbed to her bunk long enough to grab her letter that needed stamped and sent off across the lake.

Lisa awoke with a start when she heard the door slam shut.

"Hey! Easy on the camp property, Kari," Lisa called. "Jessa replaced those doors last summer! Gosh!"

Hikari looked at the letter in her hand.

"I still need to mail this letter, would you, Miranda, and Carole like to join me?" Hikari asked.

"It's too early," Lisa groaned. "we'll join you when the store is open!"

Lisa then shifted in her bunk and went back to sleep.

Hikari decided to go for a jog before breakfast in the canteen.

A short time after breakfast, the camp store was open.

Hikari paid for the stamp and placed it on her letter.

Then, Hikari saw Miranda paying for her gumdrops, Carole paying for a sugarless lollipop, and Lisa paying for some lightly salted peanuts.

"Thanks for the reminder!" Hikari exclaimed.

Hikari took the friendship bracelet she had made in arts and crafts off and put it in the envelope with her letter.

Then, Hikari sent her letter.

Over at Fort MacArthur, the recruits were doing push ups as part of basic training.

"Keep going! Keep going!" Frank ordered.

Veronica and Phil were in the middle of their push ups when they struck a conversation.

"Man," Phil commented. "your dad's really harsh, Veronica!"

"Tell me something I don't know," Veronica said to Phil. "this is worse than wasing Colbalt's brushes!"

Frank came up to Veronica and Phil.

Veronica and Phil ended their chatter and went back to their push ups.

Back at Camp Rosewood, Melanie, Jessie, and Beverly passed by the riding ring on their way to the outdoor arts and crafts area to find Hikari setting up a jump.

"I reckon we can do this, Cherokee, my handsome boy." Melanie heard Hikari say to her horse.
