The Crisis At Hand Part 2

Lisa parked the speedboat outside on the lake when she arrived at Fort MacArthur Military Academy.

Lisa could hear the clank of spoons against bowls and immediately went to the mess hall.

When she arrived in the mess hall, Lisa was stopped by two boys in uniform.

"What have we here, " an oily voice sneered. "an intruder?"

A boy who bore an amazing resemblance to a red haired weasel in camouflage came walking around the others to where he could see Lisa.

When the boy saw pretty Lisa he did a double take and his face widened into a cocky smile.

Lisa groaned inwardly, Not another one. she thought, annoyed.

"You can't be here without permission!" he snapped trying to act important

"I have permission," snapped Jason. "ask your CO."

"A likely story," he retorted, then he grinned at Lisa. "of course a date might change my mind."

Lisa jammed her heel into the instep of one of the guys holding on to her, causing him to howl in pain and let go of her, then she kicked the other one in the groin sending him to the ground.

A few minutes later, Lisa found Hikaru now with his stew bowl empty.

"Hikaru," Lisa cried. "we need you, Kari fell off Cherokee and is in the hospital unconscious!"

"What," Hikaru said, jumping up. "I had a feeling something was wrong, but I can't leave without permission!"

"Well," Lisa asked. "who do we see for permission?"

"Sergeant DiAngelo." Hikaru replied, nodding toward the officers' table.

Hikaru and Lisa went to the officers' table to speak with Frank.

"Sergeant DiAngelo," Lisa cried. "we need Hikaru, Kari fell off Cherokee and is in the hospital unconscious! Can you give him a pass to leave the premises?"

Frank just looked at Lisa blankly, "I'm sorry but I don't give out passes willy nilly!" he said.

"This isn't just some random pass request," Lisa said. "did you not hear a word I just said, Hikaru's sister is in the hospital with a concussion, we need him to try and help wake her up!"

"She's in the hospital," DiAngelo argued. "what could he really do?"

Before Lisa could answer, another voice spoke.

"Give him a pass DiAngelo." the voice said.

Frank then turned to see who dared give him orders, his face paled when he saw who it was, "Colonel Hanson!" he exclaimed.

"DiAngelo don't make me pull rank on you," Hanson growled warningly. "just cut the crap and give Hikaru the pass!"

Frank gave Hikaru the pass.

Then, Hikaru returned with Lisa to Camp Rosewood.

Once back at Camp Rosewood, Lisa returned the key to Jessa.

In her hospital room, all Hikari could do was lie in bed helplessly.

"Why did she do it? Why did Kari attempt that jump when she knew she was not ready?" Hikaru asked.

Miranda looked at Hikaru's serious expression.

"Hikari wanted to win first place in the West Ridge horse show," Miranda explained to Hikaru. "and she wanted to give her ribbon to you as a birthday gift."

Hikaru looked at his older twin sister, "The only thing I want, is for you to be well on our birthday." he said to Hikari.

Hikari reached up and squeezed her brother's hand.

"What was... that?" Carole asked.

"No idea." Lisa answered.

Hikari opened her eyes, "Kon'nichiwa... min'na." she said.
