Objection!
Of all the pointless rituals and seasons,
Believe me, Watson, this one takes the cake!
Just look at all the fuss, the mess, the chaos;
Each household forced to clutter up the home; to shop and bake.
Carollers appear on every doorstep,
Trapping the unwary with their song;
I'd rather trees were growing in the forest…
Or in the park,
Not parlours where they really don't belong!

Oh, Holmes, you act the humbug each December,
Voice your great displeasure, your dismay.
Endless disputations and objections;
Ripping into all the fun which heralds Christmas Day.
Remember, I have seen your real emotions;
Underneath your outrage; every year,
Layers of scorn just melt away like snowflakes,
Ensuring you can't hide your true
Delight in festive cheer!
