Now let's get this party started… BEGIN!
Chapter 2: Into the Forest
"Hey, girl, what kind of food do you like?" I asked my Pokémon partner.
"Sol?" Absol gave me an inquisitive stare.
Oh, right. You see, readers, we arrived at the Poké Mart and were browsing through the aisles for any supplies we needed for the journey. The main problem for me is that I had to decide if I wanted to bring along more Pokémon food for other Types or not. I mean, I am gonna be getting other Pokémon for my initial team but it pays to be prepared.
Not only that, I had to get a tent, a sleeping bag, outdoor cooking supplies, non-perishable food items, and many other things.
But every Pokémon's diet is different, along with their tastes. Absol might like sweet stuff, bitter stuff, or maybe sour stuff; hence why I asked her such a question. She's my Pokémon and as such my responsibility to care for along with any other Pokémon I capture on the path.
Then again, I gotta make sure to give my Pokémon excellent care, especially Absol. Though, I need to be careful with compliments around her because after that little shock fest I received from her, I learned she's a tsundere. Cute though that is, I don't wanna be shocked again…or blasted…or clawed…or anything really.
"Sol, sol." A clawed paw nudged my leg, drawing my attention down to Absol, who gave me an inquisitive stare.
"Oh, sorry, girl. Lost my train of thought." I apologized then looked back at the bag of Dark-Type Pokémon food in my hand. Hm, looks like it comes in five different flavors. Might as well get this one just to see if Absol will like it. "Well, I hope you're not a picky eater, Absol. The journey to Petalburg City is a long one."
"Absol." The Disaster Pokémon replied, nosing the bags of Pokémon food.
"Right, I forgot who I'm dealing with." I chuckled, placing several bags of Pokémon food in the basket I carried with one hand. Among them were supplies for myself as well as camping gear. "I think I got everything we need. Let's head up to the register and get these paid for."
"Sol." Absol nodded then pranced off towards the register, which I had already begun walking towards as well, standing behind a woman, her daughter, and a Poochyena with a pink collar around its neck.
"Thank you for your purchase, ma'am. Have a great day." The man behind the register gave the woman a friendly smile while handing her three bags of groceries.
"You as well." The woman replied with a smile of her own before she, her daughter, and Poochyena left the Mart.
"Next up?" The man at the register looked at me, prompting my feet to step forward as I set down my own shopping while Absol sat beside me.
"Alright. Got supplies, camping gear, and new clothes. I think we're all set, girl." I told Absol while admiring my new outfit at a mirror inside of a dressing room. In addition to my normal shirt, pants, and sneakers, I decided to add in a light blue vest, a pair of black-red fingerless gloves with dark blue wristbands, and a white handkerchief tied around my neck. Not a bad style for a new Pokémon Trainer.
"Absol." My Pokémon partner chimed in.
"I know, I look stylish." I replied, posing a bit by flexing my muscles. "And devilishly handsome to boot."
"Sol…" The Disaster Pokémon gave a dry look.
"Relax, I'm not gonna let it get to my head." I told Absol. "But damn I look good."
"Sol, sol." She just casually waves her paw in…a dismissive manner!?
"Hey, are you making fun of me?!" My childish retort came. Am I arguing with a Pokémon that has the power to kill me? Yes. Do I care? No.
"Soooool…"
Okay, she's giving me that snarky look that asks, "What do you think?"
"Don't you get sassy with me, you little tsundere!" I shot back. "Need I remind you that Absols are known to be cool? How would you like it if I told people that a Pokémon of your species pouts?"
*C-R-R-R-ACKLE! C-R-R-R-ACKLE!*
Uh-oh…
"Don't you do it! No, Absol! No! Don't! I just bought these clothes! I'm warning you!"
Evidently, that did not stop her…
…I have major sympathy for Ash now and all the times he's been hit with attacks by his own Pokémon. From Pikachu shocking him to Charizard roasting his ass with those flames.
"I hope you realize that I am really mad at you, right now." I told my traveling companion before coughing out a bit of soot.
"Sol!" Absol had her eyes closed with her head up as she sniffed away from me.
"Sassy little…" I growled under my breath. Why couldn't my Absol just be like those from the anime or the movies? Cool, calm, and collected. Instead, I get a snarky teenager with a short fuse. Reminds me of Lysithea from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Mention her age and she'll wail on you. Cute as a button but a total brat.
Anyways, after leaving Littleroot Town, we had officially set off into the Petalburg Woods. If I know my game, they'd be crawling with Wurmples, Silcoons or Cascoons, Shroomish, and the occasional Nincada. None of which are my desired picks for a Pokémon team. Not to say they ain't good but I'm picky when it comes to a balanced team.
Absol being a Dark-Type yet able to use other types of attacks makes her a versatile choice in battle, so long as she doesn't get hit with a type disadvantage.
Still, kinda depressing I'm on my own with my only companion being a Pokémon that can only speak its name.
Wait, how long does it take to get to Petalburg City from here? Professor Birch mentioned Ash and May so that meant this world is likely a fusion of both anime and games. Which means I have to worry about time differences when it comes to traveling. Damn, wish I saved money for a bike or something.
"Sol?" I was snapped out of my inner rambling when Absol decided to make her presence known by nudging me with her head. Apparently, she doesn't like to be ignored.
"Sorry about that. I was…thinking of stuff." I told her, adjusting the backpack I carried and kept walking. Not sure how I feel about having to deal with possible future antics from Team Rocket if they're here as well. I mean, not to crap on them but they are seriously annoying. Stalking a bunch of kids just to steal one little electrical rodent? And those ridiculous reasons their boss might want a Pokémon? Idiots, all of them.
Though now that I think about it, Jesse and James are a lot older than Ash, and… ugh… now it makes me think they're a bunch of pedos…
Hm. Would it be wrong of me to possibly eliminate said pedos? I mean, death is rare in the Pokémon world but it happens. Not like they do much but get in the way. Then again, there are times where their idiocy sometimes helps…
…Ughh! I hate how confusing this shit is! Seriously, how is it so hard to come up with a plan!? And what happens when I finish Arceus's little quest? Will I even get to go home or am I stuck here?
"Sol…" Absol looked at me strangely.
"No Absol. I'm not losing my mind." I replied to her dryly. Okay, I lied. I am kinda losing my sanity, a lot.
Actually, maybe I already have. Maybe all of this is a hallucination that I'm having while ranting and screaming in a mental asylum…
…but that was shot out of the window when I got zapped by actual lightning from Absol. The pain was real. You can't fake pain.
"Absol, be honest with me," I spoke, trying my best to calm my already broken nerves. "Are you real?"
"Sol?" Absol tilted her head in confusion.
"Okay, look, call me crazy, but Arceus sent me here for some reason. You're suddenly here, and I'm stuck in this world for who knows how long." I spoke. "I'm kinda losing my mind, I'm feeling really homesick, and I really don't know what to do."
"Ab…?" Her look of confusion became…something else. Inquisitive? Like she doesn't know how to answer that.
"Come on, Absol. Give me something. You didn't just show up out of nowhere, did you? You had to remember your parents, your childhood, anything like that. In fact, I'm wondering if you're just a part of my brain imagining one of my favorite Pokémon. Just to screw with me."
Now Absol seemed…scared. Why? She seemed like she was deep in thought but when I mentioned "parents" and "childhood", it was like a switch had turned. She almost looked…I don't know, scared? Confused?
"Absol?" I asked. Now I was starting to feel scared. And it made things worse when Absol took a few steps away from me. "Absol, no, wait, come back, I-"
The moment I took a step forward…
…she ran deep into the forest.
(3rd POV)
"Hey, Brock, how's lunch coming along?" A young girl asked.
"It'll be ready in a few minutes, May. Be a little patient." A tall tanned teenager assured the girl while stirring a pot filled with stew.
"Oh, I'm so hungry but I can't help how good your food is." The girl, May, whined.
"Why is it that all you think about is eating?" A little boy with glasses gave the girl a dry look. "Geez, sis, it's crazy that we're related sometimes."
"And what's that supposed to mean, Max?" May gave her little brother an annoyed look.
"N-Nothing! Nothing at all!" Max waved his hands frantically.
"C'mon, May, it's just a few minutes." Another young boy said, having messy unkempt hair and brown eyes. "Besides, you can help out by giving the other Pokémon their food."
"Pik! Pikachu!" A yellow rodent chimed in on the boy's shoulder.
"Hey, Ash, back from training with Taillow?" Brock asked the boy.
"Yeah, I still can't believe it can tank Pikachu's Thunderbolt like that despite being a Flying-Type." Ash said with a chuckle before a small swallow-like Pokémon landed on his unoccupied shoulder. "But that just means Taillow is really tough!"
"Taillow! Tail! Taillow!" The Young Swallow Pokémon cried out proudly.
"Well, we're still a long way from Rustboro City. Hopefully, we can find a Pokémon Center along the way if we encounter any problems." Brock mentioned, taking a small spoon to taste test the stew. Once he deemed it satisfactory, he looked at his friends with a smile. "Lunch is done."
"Alright!" May cheered, before taking out a Pokéball. "Torchic, lunch time!" She said, before throwing the Pokéball in the air and opened up, revealing an orange feathered chick-like Pokémon.
"Torchic! Tor!"
"Alright, let's dig in!" Ash said with growing excitement. However, just as he was about to sit down, Pikachu's ears twitched.
"Pi?" The electric mouse turned his head in another direction, staring into the woods.
"Hey, what's wrong, Pikachu?" Ash asked.
"Pi! Pikachu!"
"Huh? There's something out there?" Ash wondered, looking in the same direction as his rodent friend.
Suddenly, a white blur tumbled out of the bushes before it fell to the ground, revealing a Pokémon that Ash had never seen before.
"What's that?" He wondered aloud.
"An Absol!" Max suddenly exclaimed in both surprise and awe.
"Absol?" May repeated before she pulled out her Pokédex to check the database.
["Absol. The Disaster Pokémon. Absol live in steep mountainous regions, and rarely venture down into areas inhabited by humans, but should an Absol be seen by humans, it is said that catastrophe is soon to follow."]
"What's it doing out here?" Max pondered.
"Maybe it left its territory?" Ash suggested.
Brock, however, didn't seem convinced. "I don't think so. Look at it. It seems…afraid."
Absol picked itself back up on unsteady feet before it noticed the group of humans and Pokémon in front of it. It shrunk back into itself, looking ready to bolt at the slightest movement.
Ash, not seeing the harm in helping, decided to approach it. "Hey, there," He spoke gently, making sure to make small steps so he didn't frighten Absol. "Are you lost? Or hungry? If you want, we can give you some Pokémon food. We got plenty."
"Sol!" The Disaster Pokémon cried out, as it stepped back further, and electricity crackled from its horn.
Pikachu leapt off Ash's shoulder and approached the clearly unpredictable Disaster Pokémon. "Pika, pikachu. Pika?" He waved his small arms while talking to it.
"Sol! Absol!"
"Pika! Pikachu! Pi!"
"Any idea what they're saying?" May asked Brock.
"I don't know, but Pikachu's trying to calm it down." Brock answered.
"Absol, where are you?!" A voice called out. "Please, come back!"
"Sol?!" The Disaster Pokémon looked surprised, before it suddenly bolted off.
"Pika?!" Pikachu looked surprised.
(1st POV)
Dammit…! What was I thinking when I said that?! Now Absol's having an existential crisis and it's all my fault! SHIT!
I can't believe this is happening. First start on my journey and my Pokémon runs away. Not my finest moment but I can't just let Absol leave, I need to find her! She's fast but this foliage hinders her movements. She'll need an open field to get away but then-
"Oh, shit!" I cried out, tripping over an exposed root in the ground before tumbling out of the trees and landing on my back. "Ow…"
"Uh… are you okay?" A feminine voice asked.
Wait… I know that voice! May?!
And before I knew it, I had a yellow mouse staring down at me from upside down. Wait, I think it's standing above my head.
"Pi?" The lovable mascot of Pokémon, Pikachu tilted his little head in confusion.
"I must've lost my mind. I think a Pikachu just spoke." I knew I was basically joking but I didn't want to come across Ash and his friends like this. Better to act the clueless fool…which isn't further from the truth in my case. "Was kinda hoping for a cute girl…or Absol, she'd understand."
Gahhh! No time to think! I immediately sat up, with Pikachu moving out of the way and to my surprise, I saw Ash, Max, and Brock standing there too. As much as I wanted to fangasm, now wasn't the time!
"Sorry, did an Absol run through here?!" I asked.
"Uh, yeah, it ran off that way." Ash answered, gesturing to his left, which I followed to reveal an open field along with a mountain.
"Dang it!" I cursed, making sure not to use 'big boy' words since children were present. "I'll never be able to catch up to her now!"
"Are you Absol's Trainer?" May asked.
I hesitated. Am I still her trainer? I just said something that made her question her existence. "Uh… it's a long story." I managed to say. "But I need to find her! There's…something I have to say."
"We could help you find Absol." Ash offered.
"Huh?" Was I hearing that right? I honestly didn't think I heard that right. "Help me?"
"Yeah, you're looking for Absol and you don't seem like a bad person so maybe you said something and want to apologize to it."
…
…
Wow, did I suddenly meet a smarter Ash?
"Uh… yeah, that would be appreciated." I blinked.
*GRUMBLE!*
Ugh… and my stomach just had to growl. This is no time to eat dammit! But… given how I ran all this way…
"Maybe we should eat first before we start looking for Absol." Brock suggested.
Every fiber of my being is telling me not to wait around but to look for Absol. Every second I waste means she's a step further from me. However, a small part of my brain keeps buzzing me to rest first then focus on the search.
"I could eat." I replied, softly.
So with great reluctance, I sat down with Ash and company and chowed down on the food. At least I'll have something in my stomach. And Brock's cooking really is as good as he says it is.
"Ahhhhhhh…" I sighed in content, eating the stew as my body was feeling warm and fuzzy. "Man, that's delicious."
"Yeah, Brock's an amazing cook." May complimented the former Pewter City Gym Leader.
"Oh, come on, guys. You're making me blush." Brock said with a sheepish chuckle.
Ash ate a spoonful of stew then looked at me, "Anyways, I'm Ash from Pallet Town. I'm on a journey to be a Pokémon Master."
"My name's May," The brunette girl and future Pokémon Coordinator greeted before she gestured to the little boy beside her. "This is my little brother, Max."
"How do you do!"
"And I'm Brock." The ever close-eyed teen greeted with a smile of his own.
"My name is Chris Holmes. I just started my own journey here in Hoenn." I greeted them in turn then looked down at the half-eaten bowl of stew in my hands. "As you can tell, it's not going so well."
"Why did your Absol run off like that?" Ash wondered.
"I…I said something that upset her." I admitted. The guilt I felt when she looked at me with wide eyes and the terror she must've felt. "I didn't mean to do that but…I was asking myself a question that probably affected Absol too."
"Like what?" Max asked.
"Sorry, that's a bit personal right now." I didn't want to tell these kids that I came from a world where they existed as cartoon characters. They'd think I'm crazy.
"Hey, it's all cool." Ash reassured me. "We all have our secrets. Only if and when you feel comfortable. You can tell us then."
Wow, Ash isn't as dumb as he looks after all. He's actually considerate.
"Thanks," I nodded, then finished off the rest of my stew. "Well, I appreciate the meal. Now I gotta find Absol before I lose track of her."
"Why don't we look for her together?" Brock suggested.
"You sure? I mean, I don't wanna be a bother." I replied, even though I could use the help but it was still better to ask.
May smiled, "I'm sure if it was any of our own Pokémon, we'd think others would do the same for us."
"I know I'd drop everything to find my pal, Pikachu." Ash chimed in while said Pokémon rubbed his cheek against his trainer's.
Right, I forgot that in the Pokémon world, everyone is overly friendly and willing to trust and help those in need. I guess…I'm not used to that yet. Still, I can appreciate it nonetheless. "Thanks, everyone."
"Alright. Hey Taillow, think you can fly up and search for Absol?" Ash asked the young Swallow Pokémon.
"Taillow! Tail! Taillow!" The bird cried out before taking off into the air and flying off after. "Taillooooow!"
"I'm guessing we will start following it?" I inquired, mostly out of curiosity because I have no idea how they are able to find a Pokémon in the forest.
"As soon as Taillow finds your Absol, yeah." Ash said. "But while he's at it, let's finish up here really quick, then clean up after."
Yeah, not only smarter, but he's also actually more responsible too. I guess traveling with others can help you with social and life skills.
"Sounds like a plan." I replied with a grin.
(3rd POV)
Meanwhile, a few yards away from the group of five, three heads slowly peeked out from behind bushes.
"Did you hear what the twerps were talking about?" A young woman inquired, with long fuschia hair and wearing a white-black uniform with a red 'R' on the half shirt she wore.
"Something about a runaway Absol." A young man said with short blue hair that was parted in the middle and fell to his neck, wearing the male uniform with the same red 'R'.
"Absol's a rare Pokémon. If we can nab that and Pikachu for the boss," A cat-like Pokémon spoke in a New Yorker sort of accent. "We'd be set for life! Salary increases, promotions, and the finest food in the world!"
"Wooooobuffet!" A blue blob-like Pokémon chimed in with a salute from behind the trio.
"So, let's be on our way!" The young woman cheered.
"Big pay day!" The young man added.
"That's what we say!" The cat-like Pokémon chimed in.
"Wooooobuffet!"
(1st POV)
After finishing up lunch and cleaning up the camp, I followed Ash and his friends through the forest while we waited for Taillow to come back and tell us the news. I just hope Absol will be found soon. I need to apologize to her. I didn't think she'd have that kind of reaction, but I should have expected that. I don't know what I was thinking.
"Are you alright?" I heard May ask me.
"Huh? Oh, uh, yeah." I replied, a little sheepish that someone who is ten years old could look somewhat like a preteen girl. I don't know how a 10-year-old would already develop bre- no, no, no! Stop! She's 10 years old! Don't think about her that way!
"You sure? You look a little down." She pointed out.
"Well, to be honest, I'm worried about Absol." I answered, rubbing the back of my head.
"I mean I would be too, if Torchic were to run off." May said. "But we'll find Absol. Promise."
"Thanks, little lady," I said with a grin. "So, since you have a Torchic, can I assume you're also a newly traveled Trainer?"
"Yeah. Although that Mudkip wouldn't listen to me. And that Treecko was kinda creepy…" May muttered.
"Really? Doesn't sound like you like Pokémon all that much." I pointed out.
"Well…" May looked left and right before she told me to lean in so that the others wouldn't hear. "Just between you and me, it's more of the traveling I'm interested in." she whispered.
I chuckled softly, "I don't blame you for that." I whispered back. "Still, traveling and seeing new Pokémon is why I decided to go on my journey." Though that was about half the reason why I traveled.
"Where were you before you came here to Hoenn?" May asked.
Oh crap… How do I answer that? Think brain, think! Make up some bullshit!
"Uh, Kanto. I lived on the outskirts of Viridian City." I replied. "I decided to travel to Hoenn to try my hand at the Hoenn League."
"Why didn't you try the Indigo League then?" May pondered.
"I, uh… didn't have a Pokémon at the time." Came my sheepish answer.
"So you're literally just starting out too?" May asked incredulously.
I couldn't stop the sheepish chuckle from escaping, "Well, when you put it like that…" I mean, technically, I am just starting out. That's no lie.
"Taillow!" The cry of Ash's lone Flying-Type drew my attention.
"You hear that?" Max asked.
"Taillow must have found your Absol." Ash realized as the Young Swallow Pokémon flew down to us. "Taillow, did you find Absol!"
"Taillow! Tail! Taillow!" It cried out, before turning around to head in a direction.
"Let's not waste any time!" I told the group, running after Taillow. Hopefully, I can find Absol in time…and tell her I'm sorry.
(3rd POV)
After running for who knows how long, Absol came to a stop at a stream of water.
She didn't know how to react nor how to process what her Trainer had said. When Absol tried to remember her past, all she saw were…empty spots. She couldn't recall her childhood, her parents, or anything.
It made her bring up a question similar to what Chris had asked himself as much as her.
'Who am I?'
All she could do was stare at her reflection. Looking at the image of an Absol that might not even be real.
Then to her anger, she used her paw to swipe the water away, as if ridding herself of her own identity before walking off.
But after three steps, Absol paused…
*Drip*
…
*Drip, drop*
…and fell on her haunches as tears spilled down her muzzle.
What right did she have to exist? Why is her only memory when waking up the face of her Trainer? Can she even call herself a Pokémon?
"Absol!"
That voice…
"Absol, can you hear me?"
No…not him. She doesn't want him to see her like this…
"Absol!"
No, she shouldn't go back to him!
With this, she attempted to run off, but then-
*WOOSH!*
(1st POV)
"Absol? Absol!" I called out. No response.
This definitely seemed to be the place that Taillow led us but I couldn't even see a streak of white fur. "Taillow, are you sure Absol is around here?" Ash asked.
"Taillow! Tail!"
"It couldn't have gone too far." Brock pondered.
"Maybe it's near a water source?" Max suggested.
I rubbed my chin, pondering this info. "It might be possible. We didn't really have lunch before she ran off, so she might be thirsty. I just hope-"
I was cut off when I heard, "SOOOOOOOL!"
"Absol?!" I exclaimed in surprise, hearing her cry of terror.
"Over there!" Max pointed as we all ran towards the source. We went through some bushes and past some trees, following the river downstream. We arrived at a forest clearing and- oh fucking hell… tell me I'm not seeing what I think I'm seeing!
We found Absol…caught in the grip of a robot hand and held in the air by a mechanical monstrosity that reminded me of a Zaku Tank from Mobile Suit Gundam. However, it had a big red 'R' emblazoned on the torso.
"What's that thing!?" May cried out in shock.
"Some kind of robot!" Brock exclaimed.
"It's got Absol!" Ash said, looking at the captive Disaster Pokémon with gritted teeth.
"AHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" A familiar trio of voices cackled. Ugh…just my fucking luck. Welp, nothing like the present… I'll verbally abuse them, then send them flying. After I kick the crap out of them if they hurt my Absol.
"I know that laugh." Max snarled.
"Prepare for trouble and a big change!"
"Make it double because we've got range!"
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all peoples within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
Popping out of the robot's head were the two human members of the bumbling trio. A familiar redheaded woman and a blue-haired man.
"Jessie!"
"James!"
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!"
"Surrender now or prepare to fight!"
Hopping in front of the duo is a feline Pokémon.
"Meowth, that's right!"
"Woooooobuffet!"
"Team Rocket?! You again?!" Ash growled.
"Who are these kooks?" I asked. Of course, I knew who they were, but I couldn't tell Ash and the gang that I already knew them.
"They're bad guys that like to steal people's Pokémon." May explained while glaring at the crooks.
"Yeah, they follow me everywhere I go!" Ash said. "Trying to steal my Pikachu every time!"
Alright, time to abuse them.
"Wait, what? They've been stalking you?!" I faux gawked, making Team Rocket fall down anime style.
"Excuse me!" Jessie, the magenta-haired woman, exclaimed. "As if we'd ever stalk a twerp!"
"What do you take us for?! A bunch of creeps!?" James, the periwinkle-haired man added.
"I mean…you follow a kid around and keep trying to steal literally one of his Pokémon. A mouse that conducts electricity. So yeah, creeps." I said, matter-of-factly. "In fact, you're more like a pair of pedophiles to me."
This made Jessie and James completely pale and comically crack.
Is it wrong that I wanna laugh at them right now?
"Ahhhh! No!" May and Max cried out, hiding behind Brock, since he's the oldest of the group.
"Huh, I never thought of it like that." The former Pewter City Gym Leader remarked then glared at Team Rocket.
"You losers should be in jail for that. Maybe even sent to a mental asylum for all that." I pointed out. The fact that these guys have been chasing Ash for 20+ fucking years amazes me in a bad way.
"Hey! Jessie and James aren't a bunch of pedos!" Meowth snapped.
"Oh yeah?" I said, as I stared at Meowth, then at the pair. "Maybe they're into Bestiality too with you around."
*CRACK!*
Oh wow… Meowth's koban coin on its head actually cracked as he paled. I think I broke him.
"You have a disturbing mind…" Brock pointed out.
"Hey, they're the ones that are disturbing. I'm just pointing it out." I shrugged. "But anyways! Give back my Absol, ya damn thieves!" Even though they aren't much of a threat, I definitely did not like it when they held my Absol in the air like that.
Jessie managed to snap out of her mental crisis and glared at me, "Not a chance, twerp!" The hell you just call me!? "This rare Pokémon is going straight to the Boss!"
"Over my dead body!" I roared, my body already moving on its own as I jumped onto the arm that held my partner.
"Ah, Chris!?" May called out.
"Pikachu, use a-" Ash was about to have his faithful Pokémon partner use its signature attack before Brock stopped him.
"Wait, Ash! If you use Pikachu's Thunderbolt, it could affect Absol and Chris."
Even while the kids were pondering what to do, I continued my climb on the robot's arm to get to Absol. Huh, now I get that whole meaning of why Ash is known as a human Mankey.
"Hang on, Absol! I'm coming to get you!" I grunted.
"Sol! Absol!" The Disaster Pokémon shouted at me.
"Look, you can hate me all you want, but I'm not leaving ya!" I said. "I'm sorry for what I said! I really am!"
"Absol, sol!" She shook her head. She wasn't mad at me?
"Are you…trying to tell me that I shouldn't save you?" I pondered in confusion.
"Meowth! Shake that twerp off!" Jessie ordered.
"You got it!" I heard the feline say before the robot arm I was climbing on began swinging around, trying to throw me off.
"Sweet mother of Arceus!" I cried out, holding on for dear life. "I hate carnival rides!" Urp! I think I'm gonna puke…
"Grrr! Do something, Meowth!" Jessie yelled at the Pokémon.
"I'm trying, but this twerp's got a good grip!"
"Ughhh… I'm gonna puke!"
"No, don't!" James cried out.
"I'm gonna do it!" I shouted. Oh no! Here it comes! "BLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRGH!"
"AHHHH! NOT THE PAINT JOB! THAT COSTS EXTRA!" Meowth cried out in despair.
"That is just gross." Max commented.
Screw you, kid. It's not like you're the one on this thing.
"Then we'll have to do it the old-fashioned way. James, take care of him!" Jessie told her partner in crime.
"Fine, Cacnea, come on out!" James said, throwing his Poké Ball and out came a small round cactus-like Pokemon, with thorns on its body and arms, a small yellow crown for its head and having holes for a smile, but it suddenly turned around and clutched onto James like usual. The man squealed in pain. "Why can't you hug the twerps instead?! Use Pin Missile!" He whined.
"Cacnea!" The small cactus Pokémon aimed its needle-like arms at me and fired a barrage of needles.
"Ah, crud." I cursed. I managed to somehow swing out of the way as the barrage of needles hit the arm of the robot.
"James, what are you doing?! You're going to break our robot!" Jessie cried out.
"It's not my fault the twerp moved! What was I supposed to do?" James argued.
"Ugh, if you want something done right…" Jessie growled, bringing up her own Poké Ball. "Seviper, Poison Tail!"
The ball opened up to reveal the black-scaled pit viper like Pokémon with its red, yellow, and purple scales scattered around its body. "Seeeevipaaaa!" It hissed, then its pointy tail glowed purple as it dashed towards me, ready to swing. This isn't gonna end well as I used too much energy to dodge that last attack and I'm still feeling sick.
"Oh, no!" May cried out.
"Get out of there, Chris!" Brock called out.
"No way!" I exclaimed, glaring at the approaching Poison Tail then did possibly the stupidest thing I had ever done in my life…
…catching the glowing purple tail in my hands.
How is it possible, you ask? Jessie might have a decently strong Seviper but she's never actually trained it. To me, it might as well be a drunk guy throwing a punch at my face.
"Haaaaaaaaaah?!" Meowth gawked.
"Alright Seviper, time to send… you… FLYING!" I grunted as I used the one free hand I had and started swinging Seviper around like a lasso and I'm pretty sure it was getting dizzy. I don't know where I'm getting this strength from, but hell, I went with it. After a few more swings-
"YEEEEEEEEET!" I yelled, throwing Seviper high in the air. I think I heard it doing those funny raspberry noises it makes whenever it flicks its tongue before it collides face-first with Jessie. "IT'S GOOD!" I declared, raising up an arm in the air.
Now with that out of the way, I can focus back on saving Absol.
"How did he-" May gawked.
"Best not to question it." Ash answered.
As I reached the hand holding Absol, I grabbed onto a metal finger and started pulling, "Hang on, Absol! I'm getting you out!"
"Sol?" She looked at me with confused eyes.
"I'm sorry, Absol. I made you question yourself when I was questioning my own. But that doesn't matter now." I told her, still pulling the finger. "Whether you had a past or not, you're still my partner! And I'll never let you go! Absol, you're my Pokémon! And I wouldn't change it for anything else!"
"Sol? Absol!"
"Yeah, I mean it! I really do!"
The way Absol was looking at me, it seemed as if she was coming to a realization. Then her eyes narrowed as she opened her maw, charging up a Shadow Ball.
"That's right, girl! Use Shadow Ball to break yourself free!" I shouted.
"Uh… Meowth, what's it doing?" Jessie asked, after getting Seviper off her face.
"I think it's something that's gonna end with us in a world of hurt." Meowth groaned.
"ABSOL!" She launched the dark energy ball at the arm that was clutching her, destroying it in the process and freaking Team Rocket out, but now she and I were free falling.
"They're gonna crash!" Max panicked.
"Absol, Extremespeed!" I told my partner while wrapping my arms around her neck.
An aura of what seemed like wind surrounded Absol before she moved in the air with a burst of speed then landed albeit roughly on the ground.
"Ugh…yeah, not as bad as I thought it would be." I groaned.
"Chris!" Ash called out as he and the gang ran up to us. "Are you alright?!"
"Could've been worse." I groaned again, as I slowly got up, as did Absol. "But we'll worry about that later. Let's blast them into the sky!"
Ash smirked then glared at Team Rocket, "Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!"
"Absol, use Shadow Ball!" I added in.
"Piiiiiiiiiikachuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!" The electric mouse Pokémon cried out, discharging electricity at Team Rocket's robot.
"Absol!" The Disaster Pokémon released a ball of dark energy which then combined with Pikachu's Thunderbolt to create an awesome effect which I'll call Shadow Bolt. Yeah~ has a nice ring to it.
Anyway, the combo attack managed to strike the Team Rocket robot and even gave the bumbling idiots a good shock. Huh, it's amazing how these guys can survive an explosion as well as an electrical attack.
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!*
And now their robot exploded, and there they go, flying.
"LOOKS LIKE TEAM ROCKET'S BLASTING OFF AGAIN!"
"Wooooobuffet!"
*DING!*
Huh, they really said it. And it even came with the little tingle when they go far.
"Good riddance to bad rubbish." I commented. I then turned to Absol and knelt on one knee. "You okay, Absol?"
"Sol…" She said softly but she wasn't looking at me in the eye.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
Absol started to tremble. Is she…crying?
"Absol…I meant what I said." I told her. "Can you look at me, please?"
Absol slowly lifted her head up and sure enough, she was crying. "Listen to me. We're partners for life. We'll get through this together. Even if what I said before you ran off, is true, that doesn't change the fact that the bond we have is real. It is very real."
"Sol…?" She asked in a timid voice.
"Yeah, it is. You're my first Pokémon, Absol. That will never change. And you're also…my friend as well." I replied with a smile. "So whaddya say? Will you still have me?" I asked, holding out my hand to her.
Absol stared at my hand for what seemed like an eternity, then looked up at me, before she finally placed her paw in my hand.
"Absol…" I smiled in relief, as did the others.
*C-C-C-RACKLE!*
"Eh?" I blinked, before Absol… smiled…? You sassy little-
*BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT!*
"YaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaA!"
…
…why?
"Wow, that had to hurt." I heard Ash comment.
"No kidding." Max added.
"I guess that's Absol's way of forgiving you?" May asked.
"Sure…let's go with that…" I groaned, coughing out a bit of smoke before collapsing on my back. Absol smirked in satisfaction at my suffering.
Yup. This is gonna be my life now.
