It was a cold, lonely night on Minami's island; not even the birds would keep her company; they were all busy caring for their young. Minami was bored and didn't know what to do to pass the long sleepless nights.

Then she remembered something Misao had said long ago: 'Whenever I get bored or lonely, I just draw new characters!'

Minami grabbed her paintbrush and began to draw, on her first attempt she drew font face="Nimbus Mono L, monospace"span lang="zh-CN"い/span/font, on her second attempt she drew font face="Nimbus Mono L, monospace"span lang="zh-CN"ろ/span/font, and on her third font face="Nimbus Mono L, monospace"span lang="zh-CN"は/span/font. Surprisingly, Minami was impressed with herself.

She kept going, drawing more characters until she had an entire stack of them.

"Hm, this one is A; this one is Hi; this one is Ku…" she continued naming each of the symbols until they were all named. She counted that and found out she had just under 50.

Minami felt better after drawing, and was finally able to go to sleep.
