13th December prompt from cjnwriter: Sleigh bells

A drabble.

Sleigh Bells

Sleigh bells down the street are ringing,

Passengers, well-wrapped, are singing

Christmas carols, all are bringing

Joy at Christmastide.

~0~

Watson's at his desk, he's scorning

All things festive, deep in mourning.

Black; no green nor red adorning

Home this Christmastide.

~0~

Watson hears the sleigh bells ringing,

Hears familiar carols bringing

Memories of Mary singing…

Not this Christmastide.

~0~

Watson sighs, writes on, preparing

Holmes' past case notes, set for sharing

With the world; it helps in bearing

Grief this Christmastide.

~0~

Bells outside his door are ringing,

Voices he knows well are singing

Words of comfort, friends are bringing

Hope this Christmastide
