Welcome to the countdown to Christmas HoD day 3.
Enjoy!
Wade returned the snowboard he rented for the day, and stormed into the hotel, pissed with himself for failing so horribly on the slopes. He couldn't even get beyond the damn bunny hill before he called it quits. He wasn't going to make a fool of himself in the name of fun, not when he knows for a fact he'd be having fun back home. As he stormed through the lobby he tripped over some luggage, mumbling about people not keeping their crap out of the way, he missed the scowl that was all for him, the teen cursing under her breath about manners.
Entering the room he's forced to share with Jesse, he found his brother laughing it up on the phone provided in the room, laying on the bed in his boxers. Shaking his head, not even wanting to know what kind of phone call his brother has going on, he headed to the bathroom, slamming the bathroom door. He tossed his jacket, the one they had to buy when they got to Denver, to the floor, the stupid thing didn't keep him warm, he still felt the chill in his bones when the wind blew.
"What happened to spending the day on the slopes, showing off your moves?" Jesse asked, through the bathroom door.
Wade scowled at his reflection in the mirror, not any happier with himself and his poor excuse of a performance on the stupid bunny hill. "Don't you have someone else to bother and make their life miserable?" Wade asked, with a grumble, turning the water on. With a handful of warm water, he splashed it on his face.
"Did you fail? Get a bruise?" Jesse asked with a laugh. "Not everyone is a natural when starting out," he tacked on, not wanting to deal with a pissed-off little brother for the night.
"I know that," Wade sighed, drying his face off, and opening the bathroom door. "I didn't fail, because I got back up and kept trying," he stated, telling himself that in order to fail, one needs to stay down and tomorrow, he plans on going back out there and getting the best of the slopes.
"Are you trying to convince me, or yourself, little brother?" Jesse asked with a smirk, grabbing his magazine.
"Seriously, don't you have anything better to do?" Wade asked, his anger seeping out as his brother mocked him. The last thing he needs to do is fight with his brother and piss his mom off. Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath and slowly releasing it. Taking his anger out on Jesse isn't going to solve the anger he has at himself.
"Get some ice and you'll be fine in the morning," Jesse snapped from his bed, flipping through a magazine he picked up in the gift shop, where he was flirting with the 20-something worker.
"I don't need ice," Wade retorted, switching the light in the bathroom off. "How many times have you had to ice your ego?" Wade asked with a smirk, grabbing the remote for the TV off the stand that sat between the two beds, plopping down on the bed he gets to call his for their vacation. He was happy to see that his brother had jeans and a shirt on.
"You act like I've had my ego bruised before," Jesse smirked, dropping the magazine on his bed. "Ready to learn how to make the girls swoon?" He asked, casting a look over to his younger brother.
"I've seen you get turned down plenty of times," Wade remarked, leaving the TV on some movie he didn't know the name of. "And I don't need your help getting anyone to swoon," Wade laughed, tossing the remote on the same stand as before.
"There's no way that you can have a little holiday fling before I have one," Jesse smarted off. He had taught his brother everything over the past few years. There's no way that Wade has better moves than he does.
"I've got to admit that unlike you, I'm not here to focus on having a holiday fling, I want to shred the slopes," Wade told him. He's all about having fun, but using someone like that, in a bet with his brother, didn't seem like it's the thing that he needs to be doing. Unlike Jesse, he doesn't have anything to prove to anyone. He already knows that he can get anyone to swoon over him, but that's not what he wants this trip to be about. At first it was, but his brother is taking the joy out of it.
"After failing so horribly today?" Jesse asked laughing as he padded across their shared room, stopping in the bathroom doorway, wanting to make sure his appearance is just right.
"At least I tried and wasn't too chicken shit to try it," Wade retorted, sending a glare his brother's way.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk, Wade," smirked Jesse. "What would mom say if she heard that language come out of your mouth?" Jesse laughed, shutting the bathroom door behind him.
"Mom's not here to hear it," Wade mumbled under his breath, looking out the window, watching as more snow started to fall from the sky. Whatever he thought about this vacation and snow, can now go to hell. After one day out on the slopes where he failed and made an ass of himself, he's not sure he really wants to venture back out in the stuff. Casting a look at the mountain where he failed. He doesn't quit and he's going to conquer the snow where he has a board strapped to his feet as he flies down the side of the mountain, even if it kills him.
"Look, you can sit here and mope about how all snow is cursed and out to get you, or you can live a little and have some fun and enjoy winter break where you're not going to be seeing any of these people ever again," Jesse stated, dropping down to his bed, to slip his shoes on.
"I'm going to regroup and get my ass back out there and prove to myself that I can snowboard, and not make a fool of myself in front of some girl that's older than me and not interested at all," Wade remarked, pulling the curtains closed. "The ice machine is down the hall when you need some for that ego of yours," he smirked at his brother.
"You enjoy the sights while freezing your ass off and I'll enjoy the beauty in the warmth," Jesse smirked, heading to the door. "Don't wait up," he commented, checking to make sure his parents weren't in the hall.
Wade shook his head, ready to call it a day and spend the rest of his afternoon in the room waiting to call it a night in a few hours, when he decided, to quickly slip his shoes on, follow Jesse's example, and spend a few hours where he's not cramped in the room, going over what he had done wrong when learning how to snowboard. Unlike his brother, he didn't care if his parents were spying on him, it's not like he's trying to hook up with anyone the way Jesse is. No, he's just going to see what the lobby has to offer. Hopefully, they have some food because he doesn't want to go outside to get any. He's had enough snow and ice for one day.
"We're going for a walk, want to join us?" His mom asked when he got to the lobby and saw them bundled up.
"I would hate to be the third wheel on your romantic walk," he told her.
"Good choice," Earl laughed, putting his arm around his wife's waist. "Don't get into trouble," he warned heading outside with Jackie.
Wade grunted, shoving his hands in his pockets, and headed further into the bigger part of the lobby filled with couches, chairs, a fireplace, pool table, darts, a mini-arcade, and a food bar.
