Dec 16th prompt from sirensbane: A supernatural occurrence.
Supernatural?
The cab skims his coattails by fractions of inches;
A brief glimpse of feathers, a flutter, then gone;
An image which goes through his brain in an instant.
He blinks, shakes his head, smoothes his coat, carries on.
A bright flash of gold from a crack in the pavement;
He stoops down to check, feels a breeze pass him by;
A rock skims his hat as a wheel strikes a cobblestone;
The oddest impression of wings in the sky.
Soft words, gentle whispers behind him, distracting him;
Cause him to halt in his tracks, turn around,
And sense a white shadow, as just up ahead of him,
A section of coping stone drops to the ground.
Now somewhat unsettled, he's had quite enough of this,
Stops, hails a cab with a wave of his hand
Cannot explain why he sends it away again;
Sees it collide with a stall on the Strand.
He shrugs off the notion that someone is watching him;
Briskly walks on, with his bag and his cane,
Steps back from a shop front, the reason evading him;
Narrowly missing a shattered glass pane.
Enough is enough…this can not be coincidence…
A short span of time with so many close calls …
How Holmes would have relished this singular mystery…
Was it really six months since the Reichenbach Falls?

A snow covered mountain, a rough wooden shelter;
A man seeking refuge in deepest Tibet…
His thoughts far away from the stark, stunning scenery;
The Baker Street comrade he'll never forget.
His cloak wrapped around him, a fire burning merrily;
All is so peaceful, and simple and calm.
He lights a small candle, sends hopes and thoughts silently,
Urging the Fates to keep Watson from harm…
