A drabble
Whist
The Honourable Ronald Adair headed out,
From his family's London address.
As his wont, he was due at the Bagatelle Club
For a card game; his mind on the recent success
He'd achieved with his partner, one Colonel Moran;
A considerable sum had been won.
The result had surprised him, in view of their hands;
He hadn't a clue as to how it was done.
No sign there was cheating, but something compelled
Him to check there was nothing he'd missed.
There were many pursuits he could choose to enjoy;
What harm could there be in a preference for whist?
