A continuation of 23:Tree
Truffles
The frenzied and destructive chase concluded at the kitchen table;
Cat and dog collided with the legs and rendered all unstable.
Mrs Hudson whirled around whilst pouring heated cream, distracted,
Spilt some in a bowl of chocolate pieces, when the pair impacted.
Scolded both the errant creatures, peeved that they had caused this mess;
Cream should be on eggs not chocolate; both were wasted now…unless…
Picking up a wooden spoon she stirred the mixture, stirred it well;
Placed it in her paw-proof pantry, left it cooling down a spell,
Brought the bowl out some time later, studied the resultant paste,
Rolled it into little balls, and then in cocoa, checked the taste,
Smiled, and handed round the treat to those involved in pets' kerfuffle…
The tree was wrecked, but Mrs H had pioneered the chocolate truffle.

A/N…on checking…legend has it that Escoffier may have invented the truffle by accident in the 1920s…Clearly, Mrs H got there first :-)
