Bayley rallies the God Girls when Seth tries to pull Sasha out of deep waters with the McMahon family and Bray Wyatt on his own and Roman Reigns files for custody of Abiyah Rollins.
Chapter Seventeen – You Should Have Asked First!
New York Memorial Hospital, New York City, New York
Austin Theory looked nervously between Carla's adoptive parents as she spoke to her sister about something that had happened in Connecticut. Dan and Charlotte McCool didn't know what to think of the young man who was now engaged to Carla McCool and it made the future WWE Superstar very uncomfortable. He kept looking over his shoulder to see if Carla was still on the phone but she hadn't finished her call yet; something serious must have happened in Connecticut.
Dan eventually was the first of the McCools to speak even though he was recovering from a so-called heart attack, his face was tight as if he really didn't want to talk to Austin. The Truth was Austin was as untrustworthy as they were.
"So, you're from Georgia. What brings you to New York?" Dan asked Austin.
"I'm a pro wrestler we travel all over the world," Austin replied.
"You didn't answer my question," Dan replied curtly.
"Why am I in New York? The WWE had a show at MSG last week and I decided to hang back and spend some more time with Carla," Austin replied.
"So, you're here in New York City with the rest of the roster?" Charlotte chimed in.
"No, I'm here on my own," Austin replied.
"So you're not on the road at the moment?" Dan asked him curiously. "Are you on vacation?"
"No I'm just spending some time with Carla, since she is based outta New York City. I'll catch up on my dates, I know how to manage my career," Austin replied confidently."
"Austin, can I ask you about your engagement to our daughter?" Dan said leaning forward from the hospital bed. "Did you tell Shawn and Hunter that you wanted to marry Carla?"
"No, it just sort of happened. After a few dates I realised that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her," Austin said with a wide and beguiling smile.
"Yet you didn't tell us," Charlotte said resentfully. "So nobody knew about your feelings for Carla except for you and Carla?"
"Its really no-one else's business Mrs McCool, we are grown ups and we are responsible for what happens to us. Did you really expect me to check with you before I proposed to her?" Austin replied incredulous.
"Yes!" Dan and Charlotte replied at the same-time.
"She's our daughter!" Charlotte snapped. "We don't even know you and quite frankly, you hardly even know Carla!"
"Look guys relax, you have all the time in the world to get to know me. I'm not going anywhere," Austin reasoned and Dan and Charlotte were about to get into a heated argument with him when Carla came off the phone and walked back into Dan's hospital room.
"I just spoke to ATM, we have to leave right now," Carla said to Austin who got up and faced her noticing the concern in her voice.
"Carla wait, can we please talk about this engagement?" Dan asked her.
"I just came here to make sure you were okay and the doctor said you'll be fine to leave by the end of the week. After that, I don't think we'll be speaking or spending anymore time together," Carla said and Dan and Charlotte looked at her shocked.
"Is this because of what ATM told you, that we're out to get your money and you can't trust us?" Charlotte said panicking.
"I really don't want to talk about this, Austin and I have to leave right now," Carla said.
"But we want to talk to you about this engagement!" Dan yelled as Carla and Austin headed out.
"You don't have to worry about it, you won't be coming to the wedding," Carla said and Dan and Charlotte watched stunned as their adopted daughter left with a man they hardly knew and a mind that was totally made up.
"My God we have got to get outta here Charlotte. If Carla marries Austin our plans go up in smoke! That damn ATM are ruining everything, everything that we've been planning since Carla was a child! How dare they interfere in our lives like this!" Dan said fiercely.
"Daniel calm down, we'll get through to her but first we have to convince her closest friends Charlene and Cassidy, that we're not as bad as ATM are making us out to be. If anyone can convince Carla to change her mind its Mac and Cassie," Charlotte said.
"What if LC's already gotten to them?" Dan said and Charlotte's thoughts darkened.
"I always knew that girl was going to be trouble, we should have retained our guardianship over both Lisa and Carla, then we wouldn't be in this situation. Now that they've both been sold on the DX legacy, we're going to have a hard time getting Carla back," she said bitterly.
"This isn't over sweetheart, something's happened in Connecticut. Let's get out of here and find out what's going on and then we can turn things back in our favour. If DX think they're running away with both Lisa and Carla, they've got another thing coming," Charlotte said.
The McCools were going to have a hard time convincing Carla that they weren't the traitors that ATM said they were. They might have to take a note out of Austin Theory's book as he was well schooled in lies and deception, thanks to his time under the learning tree of Shane McMahon and Bray Wyatt. The news of DX's disappearance was spreading fast across Connecticut but not as fast as Bray Wyatt was finding his way to Connecticut to speak with Shane McMahon. Now that DX were missing, Shane McMahon had to move and move fast and Bray was just as eager to help him implement his evil plan to get rid of DX for good. Shane McMahon was making his way back to the Sandbox. Now that DX were gone, nothing could stop him from gaining access into the Sandbox.
The Sandbox
Becky Lynch looked at the menacing forms of Shane McMahon and Bray Wyatt heading towards them from the video intercom.
"Man, that is one ugly dude," Becky said of Bray Wyatt as Shane pressed the buzzer.
The DX family was huddled inside with ATM and the God Girls talking about what had happened at the Stamford Diner and how much trouble Beth Hardy was now in.
"Let me in!" Shane McMahon said and Bray Wyatt shook his head unimpressed.
"It's so much more effective when I say it," he said but Shane ignored him.
"Knock it off Wyndham, this is McMahon property and as a McMahon, they need to respond to my voice, not yours," Shane said and Bray tried not to laugh.
"You are so your father's son," Bray said to Shane, "you're arrogant, you're entitled and you're black-hearted, just like your old man, and just like your old man, you underestimate me and just how good I am at my job,"
Shane looked at Bray thoughtfully, "Well, do your job," he said after awhile and Bray disappeared into the Sandbox and appeared where ATM, the God Girls and the DX family were standing.
"We can do this the easy way or the hard way," he said, "if we do it the hard way, I'm going to start a fight, a fight that will stress out Seth's Treasurer of Secrets. If we do it the easy way, I'll open this door and let Shane McMahon in and we will tell you what our plans are now that DX is gone forever,"
"DX are not gone forever you idiot," Trish "The Truth" Stratus said derisively, "now that Seth and Sasha are looking for Abiyah, it won't be long before DX are standing in this house,"
Bray scowled at Trish. Beth Hardy had screwed up by Transcending Abiyah Rollins but he wasn't about to let anyone think they weren't in control of all the chaos.
"You don't know what we've got in mind, why don't you hear us out?" Bray said and he reached for the door knob to let Shane McMahon in.
"Turn that knob and you'll be ashes in four seconds," Becky Lynch warned Bray Wyatt.
"Stay in this house and your marriage will be over in four hours," Bray replied. "Who do you think is comforting a very distressed and anxious Beth Hardy at the Sheraton Hotel in Stamford right now?"
"She wouldn't dare go near my Finn!" Becky snapped and Bray Wyatt laughed maniacally and that made Becky even angrier.
"I think I've said enough, we'll come back when you've cooled off," Bray said and he disappeared back outside the house much to Shane McMahon's confusion.
"Why did you leave the house?!" Shane asked perplexed and Bray looked at him confidently.
"My intention wasn't to get you in the house Shane, it was to cause a distraction. I injected chaos into a very powerful army and now all we have to do is wait," Bray Wyatt said calmly while Shane threw his hands up confounded.
"Wait for what?!" he yelled when suddenly, ATM and the DX family were running after Becky Lynch who was now airbourne and heading for the Sheraton Hotel in Stamford to prevent Finn Balor from slipping.
"Quick to the ATM Machine!" ATM said and they got into their classic van with the DX family and the rest of the God Girls and chased after Becky while Shane and Bray Wyatt looked on with smiles on their evil faces.
"Wait for that," Bray replied and they shared a laugh while walking right into the Sandbox and claiming victory in the first strike in their war against a very missed and greatly needed DX.
