Hey everyone, welcome to day 19 of the Hart of Dixie countdown to Christmas!
Enjoy!
Zoe woke up with a groan, the morning sun seeping through the open curtains. Rolling over in the bed, she found that Wade had left in the middle of the night. They returned to Zoe's room to watch a movie or two. Halfway through the first movie, she found Wade sound asleep, during the second movie she passed out.
Grabbing the fluffy white robe, Zoe made her way out to the hotel room's living area. A soft smile crossed her lips seeing the spread of food on the kitchen counter. Plates of sugary pastries, pancakes, waffles, fruit bowls, granola, yogurt, fried potatoes, eggs, bacon, and sausage.
"Mom, how do you expect us to eat all of this?" She asked, looking at her mom sitting on one of the smaller sofas in the room. She doesn't even think they're going to make a dent in the food, let alone make it look like they've eaten any of it.
"It's not just us eating it," Candice shrugged, picking her coffee cup up.
"What do you mean it's not just us eating?" Zoe asked, popping a grape into her mouth.
"The Kinsella's were welcoming enough to let us crash their plans for the day, it only seemed right that they come to ours," Candice explained. "It only made sense that they use our room for their dinner," she informed her daughter. "Be a dear and get that," Candice told her, as she could only assume the knocking on the door would be their guests.
Groaning as she walked across to the door, as she hadn't even brushed her teeth, and she was answering the door in her robe and fuzzy slippers. She raked a hand through her hair, as she hadn't even brushed it, thinking it was only going to be her and her mom for breakfast, only after that was she planning on getting ready for the day.
"Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Kinsella," Zoe greeted pulling the door open, an easy smile on her face. She relaxed a bit seeing that Wade or Jesse wasn't with them.
"Morning dear," Jackie smiled, entering the room, Earl following behind his wife, both of them with their hands full of food for dinner. "Wade and Jesse will be here shortly," she informed Zoe. "They're fighting over the shower," she teased.
"It's Earl and Jackie," Earl reminded her, putting the bags he carried onto the floor by the fridge.
"Right," Zoe laughed nervously. Having them in her space felt weird. "I'm going to go take a shower," she informed the three adults in the room, popping a grape into her mouth as she went.
Lounging in her pj's over breakfast had been the ideal choice. Instead, she grabbed her red plaid wrap skirt that stops above her knee, with a dark gray turtleneck sweater, and a few other things, and headed to the bathroom, a smile overtaking her face at the laughs coming from the small living area.
Not wanting to spend long in the shower and miss out on breakfast when Wade and Jesse show up. As much food as they have, it won't withstand two teenage boys. That much she does know. The teen boys she spends her days with are complete pigs when it comes to food.
She had a quick shower, and she rushed through her makeup routine, putting her hair up in a simple bun. Deciding she looked good enough she emerged from the bathroom, seeing Wade and Jesse entering the hotel room. She gave Wade a warm smile, tossing her things in her room.
"I about got caught this morning," Wade whispered, as Zoe came to stand next to him, looking over the choices on what it is she wants to have for breakfast. "By your mom and by my parents," he chuckled.
"Are you saying being stealthy isn't your strong suit?" Zoe teased. She doesn't know what her mom would have done if she had caught Wade sneaking out of her room at an ungodly hour of the morning. She's positive she wouldn't have liked the long talk about sex and the hormones running through teenagers. She has heard it once already and she doesn't need to hear it again. As for what Wade's parents would have done to him, she's not really sure. They seem like they're chill parents, who are strict when need be.
"Did you not hear the first part," Wade remarked, loading his plate up. "I was stealthy enough to not get caught," he stated a smug smirk on his face.
"Only because of timing," Zoe pointed, a smirk on her face to rival his. Zoe decided to sit at the table instead of with everyone else in the small living area. Putting her plate on the table, she went back to get some orange juice, getting Wade one as well.
"Thanks," Wade smiled, taking his juice from Zoe. "Timing or not, I didn't get caught, hence neither one of us got into trouble," he simply stated.
"You have a point there," Zoe conceded. Growing quiet as they dig into their food.
"This is a good way to start Christmas," Wade commented, washing a mouthful of food down with some juice. "Just gotta remember to save room for the main course," he teased.
"Says the guy that can't get enough," Zoe remarked, shaking her head. Wade has eaten twice as much as she has in a small period of time.
"I'm a growing boy," Wade ghastly said, faking a horror expression.
"That doesn't mean eat until your jeans no longer fit you," Zoe stated, raising an eyebrow at him.
"One of the joys of Christmas," Wade said nonchalantly. "Eat until you have to pop the button on your jeans. With leftovers for days."
"Unlike you, I'm not going to eat until I feel sick," she informed him. "Therefore I will have plenty of room for dinner," she said.
"You don't know what you're missing out on," Wade shrugged, digging back into his food.
"You do know that no one is going to waltz in here and steal the food from you, right?" She asked, raising an eyebrow at him.
"I'm not nitpicking your eating habits," he commented, stuffing a piece of bacon into his mouth with a bite of pancake.
"Because out of the two of us, I'm the one eating like a civilized person, who remembers her manners," she pointed out in a joking tone. She doesn't want Wade to get mad at her over something as silly as how one eats a holiday breakfast.
"I know my manners," he protested, wiping his mouth clean.
"You sure about that?" She teased, getting up to put her dishes in the sink.
"You're not as funny as you like to think you are," Wade quipped out, following Zoe's lead, having gotten his full of breakfast. "Come on A Christmas Story is playing all day today, and you need to watch the most classic Christmas movie of all time," Wade informed her.
"We're going to watch a movie in my room," Zoe called out to the three adults in the room. She wasn't sure when Jesse had taken off, as she hadn't been focused on him.
"Keep the door open," Candice told her, looking over her shoulder at her daughter.
"Got it," Zoe nodded. "Though I don't know what you think is going to happen when our parents are outside the door," she commented lowly, only Wade hearing what she said, which he chuckled at.
"The same thing we can do with the door partially open," Wade commented, following behind Zoe, leaving the door slightly ajar. "Care to find out?" He questioned with a wink, getting a blush to cover the apple of Zoe's cheeks.
