Sixteen-year-old Cecilia Masters was utterly burned out from the last few days. The end of the year was looming as December started tomorrow. Fortunately, it hadn't snowed yet. Peace Valley's winters could go either way, from being relatively mild to being buried alive.
At least she wasn't the one who had to shovel it. That responsibility fell upon her father and younger brother. Of course, given she wasn't a child anymore, the snow had long ceased being a plaything. Her little sister Felicity hadn't outgrown seeing snow as a plaything. It had yet to become a nuisance to her.
Ceci did have to acknowledge she wasn't a fan of winter. However, she did have a soft spot for going with her friends to the indoor skating rink. They'd finished construction of the ice rink when she was twelve. She wasn't an Olympian figure skater, yet she was halfway decent. Denise did marginally better, given she was a cheerleader. Jamie couldn't even make it three minutes without falling on his butt.
The teen slowly but surely approached her twin-size bed after she had confirmed that her bedroom door was bolted. Employing her enhanced ghost senses to deem everything secure. She then utilized intangibility to extract her journal from its hiding place. Like most young people, the teenager kept a diary. However, like most teenage girls, she knew her younger siblings would potentially snoop through her things.
Hence, she started utilizing her intangibility to conceal items in locations they couldn't reach. Her journal and medium size bedroom color scheme were her favorite colors, which happened to be aqua and magenta. Uncapping the pen, she started to transcribe her thoughts.
"It's been so exhausting these past few weeks. Now that Christmas is fast approaching, things will get extraordinarily chaotic. Between Christmas shopping and the holiday drive at school? I wonder how I'll have time to prevent further ghost attacks on the town! Who knows when the ghosts start acting up? At least, there is the Christmas Truce.
I sincerely hope this year I see my half-brother Danny again. Even if we only met once so far? I'm dying to know more about him and his world. After all, he's the only one who understands what I'm going through.
Scratch that. I mean, he's the only other teen who understands what I'm going through. I implore that the Ancients will use their powers to enable us to meet again. Also, I'd like to encounter my father's half-ghost self. I'm confident Danny wants to meet his half-ghost father. But, again, I pray the Ancients will somehow make that a reality.
I'm already brainstorming about what to get him and my other younger siblings for Christmas. I know exactly what I want to give to Danny if achievable. But, again, I pray what I'm planning is conceivable. I hope my companions will be alright as well.
Jamie's little brother Ruben's bar mitzvah will be in January. I can unquestionably remember how Jamie was an utter disaster when his bar mitzvah came around. Thank God he made it through without it becoming a complete catastrophe! Also, thank God his parents accepted the fact he's gay! I know some people are way too strict when it comes to theology.
Speaking of religion, I would like to check in on the Brotherhood. I still can't believe the multi-religion house of worship in town has the spirits of past leaders watching over it! Thankfully, none pose a threat to the rest of the city. Instead, they wished to continue to serve the Lord from beyond the grave!
I also expect things to go well for Denise's family's annual Christmas celebration. She and her little sister Danika go all out when decorating their residence. Undoubtedly, Denise's family would triumph yearly if we had someone judging Christmas decorations. However, I'd like to know if the city council will follow through with that this year.
We should start our own decorating by the weekend. I appreciate that the end-of-the-year holidays are the one time my parents usually behave. From Thanksgiving to New Year, they're genuinely like everyone else.
Well, I better go. It's almost time for our nightly patrol. Please, let this be stress-free!" she capped her pen before secreting away her journal in the floorboards. Glancing at her alarm clock, it read 7:00 pm.
She utilized her enhanced hearing one more time. Breathing a sigh of relief, she said softly, "Spirit up!" Converting from Cecilia Masters into Ceci Spirit. She then rocketed out her window. She only hoped she could do her everyday responsibilities and safeguard the town. Also, praying Christmas wouldn't get ruined in any way.
