Epilogue

One year later

Tris' POV

They say that life can change on a dime. That in just a blink of an eye everything can change. Although they said that, I never really believed it. That is until now. Last Christmas everything changed so quickly. What I thought I would lose, I gained so much more. I now run the resort that my grandparents built with the love of my life Tobas.

It only took a week after Christmas for all of the official paperwork to be handled and all the arrangements to be finalized changing the ownership of the resort over to Tobias and I. In that time, even then, so much had changed.

Caleb and Susan, who were both upset, left in the middle of the night, refusing to spend even one ounce of Christmas with anyone else but themselves. By the time the sun rose, they were long gone. Leaving behind a note in replacement of their goodbye.

It's clear I'm not needed here.

Don't worry I won't come back.

Hope he doesn't take you for everything our family is worth.

Good riddens

Caleb

That was the last that we heard from Caleb. Neither my parents nor I have heard a single word from him since that day. Although I'm sure my parents have tried to reach out to him, he refuses any contact with us.

As for my parents, they bought a small condo in Florida to retire in with the money that Tobias gave them for his shares. I think in the end, it all happened for the best. Although they say they miss this place very much and the family… I know they love their new adventure and path that they are taking. We kept their names as co owners and they continue to receive their shares for being silent partners. At least it helps them with their retirement on the beach. They've made it up here a few times since they left. They loved all the changes that Tobias and I have made to the resort over the past several months, much has changed already with more in the future.

We started with the apartment on the top level of the resort. Replacing it with an additional ten rooms. Tobias and I moved into the cabin that Caleb and Susan occupied. Of course there are plans to build a more permanent residence for Tobias and I in the back, but it's home for now. There are plans to build additional cabins in the future.

Just like our property has grown, so has the staff. In fact it was by Spring our staff grew by three and two little ones. It turned out that both Hana and Zeke both couldn't stay away from Tobias and I. Shauna finally gave in to the situation by the third trip out here, insisting that they would save on traveling expenses by just moving out here.

Hana immediately took to the idea, volunteering her time each time she came out here in the past left her highly qualified and experienced for the job as head chef. My mother couldn't be happier for her. She wouldn't have it any other way. But given Hana's age, we didn't want to take advantage of her either. We hired Shauna as her assistant. It's very interesting watching both mother in law and daughter in law working together. There are lots of hours of bantering overheard through those swinging doors.

Zeke, on the other hand, became valuable when it came to the new gym that we converted one of the cabins into. Although there are plans in the future to expand the main building, for now it works.

Of course where one Pedrad goes, soon the other follows. It didn't take Uriah long to jump ship and move out here as well. As of October Uriah is our new ski instructor, replacing me since I no longer am capable of doing so. I gotta say, he loves it. During the winter months he is the ski and ice fishing instructor, but during the hotter months he is the water rafting instructor. This resort definitely keeps him busy all the months of the year. He is always booked.

Marlene too moved out here, but it didn't happen all at once like they hoped. Marlene had to finish some last minute business things that came up before she could indeed join us out here. It has been a blessing in disguise having her here though. It helps having three women running this place even though the men swear they do. She helps run our newly added and temporary convenient store out in one of the other cabins. Keeping snacks, drinks, and convenient items for guests on hand. Shauna and I definitely agreed that having her here has been a real treat. Definitely an ice breaker when it comes to our three special men when they are together.

Tobias didn't spend too much time before proposing to me. Hiding my engagement ring in a box when we were moving ourselves into Caleb's and Susan's cabin out back. He just about made me open a certain box, surprising me with a single black velvet ring box on top of a bed of bubble wrap. I wondered why the damn box didn't weigh much at all. Of course I couldn't help but burst out my answer yes, even before he had a chance to ask me the question. We both laughed as he took me into his arms. Of course what made things even more hilarious was when he asked to have the ring that I already put on my finger when he was too busy hugging me.

We were married at the resort in June. Zeke was Tobias' bestman and Shauna was my bridesmaid. We kept it small, but it was absolutely perfect. It was out by our favorite romantic spot at the Chasm. An iconic spot that will soon be shared with many brides and grooms to be. Marlene came up with the idea of making this place a marker for wedding venues. An idea that will surely bring us some more revenue for years to come.

Of course like everything else in our lives… Our pregnancy news was just as insane as ever. After much agreement back and forth between Tobias and I and many others, I finally gave in and went to get checked out by a doctor. Turns out I didn't have the stomach flu that Zeke kids brought back from school as we all thought. After my blood was drawn and testing my urine it was diagnosed that not only was I healthy as a horse, but we were expecting. After my examination at the hospital, we had a sonogram taken to measure the baby. That's when we learned that there wasn't just one baby cooking in my tummy, but two. I was instantly thrilled as the tears rolled down my checks. Tobias on the other hand, needed help off of the floor once the Nurse brought in the smelling salts to wake him after he passed out. I admit I never thought that color white could ever exist in anyone until that moment. But after the shock wore off, we were both extremely excited at the news of being parents to two amazing children, a boy and a girl. How perfect is that? I'm hoping my little boy looks just like Tobias and of course he's hoping our little girl looks just like me.

"Are the little ass kickers okay?" Uriah asks. I stick out my lower lip, looking up at him. He laughs at my expression, before deciding perhaps it's best to rescue his ass from the mother of the little asskickers. "Tobias told us that they have been keeping you up at night." He gestures to my growing stomach. At only five months pregnant I feel as if I'm larger than a barn and I'm only half way through.

"Not both of them," I corrected him, feeling the sudden need to defend my little ones.

"Figures…" He laughs. "Odds are it's the girl kicking the boys ass… obviously taking after you." Uriah says, taking the seat beside me.

"Oh shut up," I say, right before elbowing him in the ribs. He cries out, rubbing his bruised spot.

"Alright, Momma bear, Jeeze." He places his arm on the back of the couch, settling in to hear the story we have both heard million of times before. This time next year, more will change. Rooms will be added, houses will be built and expansions will be made. But best of all, two little Christmas miracles will be joining us. Two more sets of ears for my father to read to….

"T'was the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring not even a mouse…" My father begins.

A/N

First off, FDFobsessed and I would love to thank each and every one of you for your continued love and support for not only this story but our other stories this year. What a crazy year it has been! As I'm sure you all have your own craziness going on.

FDFobsessed and I have read each and everyone of your comments and I can't express how much they truly mean to us.

To answer a reader's question on what movie this story was inspired by…. It was on Hallmark's channel "Let it snow" If you haven't seen it, please do. I highly recommend it.

With that stated, please help me give out a special thanks to our Beta FDFobsessed! I swear I don't know how in the world she puts up with me. LOL, she's always fighting for each detail of all these stories and having no problems with checking these chapters again and again for any errors. Not to mention all the late nights we spend working on these stories. I don't know what I would do without my bestie!

I would love to dedicate this story to my mother, Blanca, who passed away two years ago today on Christmas morning, due to heart failure. She loved Christmas, it was her Holiday. She loved the movie, Let it snow.

I also would love to dedicate this story to two other special people… My sister Liz who always had a smile on her face even when she was hurting. We lost her to kidney failure 6 years ago. And to my brother Fred, who passed away this September due to a heart attack. My brother always loved playing Santa Clause on Christmas Eve. Disappearing after dessert to change into his outfit and make a grand entrance for the little ones.

You are all missed everyday.

On to a more serious note:

FDFobsessed and I have both decided to take a little time off to regroup and plan for the next story that will be starting Feb 14th, Valentine's day. I know we usually start the new year with a new story but this year has taken a toll on everyone.

I will tell you that the next story will be modern. It will be a good one!

So please set your calendars, follow my profile and check back with us!

From our family to yours, Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Like always, Happy reading everyone, be safe and stay healthy

Trini
